- Along with Florence Nightingale, Sister Dora Pattison (Dorothy Tutin) was one of the world's greatest nurses. The saddened child of an insane Yorkshire clergyman, she finally broke free and became a teacher before joining a religious nursing order and fulfilling a long recognised instinct and talent for nursing and caring for the sick.

Such high moral and noble personality in these characters.
Something so lost in our current society.😮💨🥺
I used to think that such character as this nurse has , is an exaggeration etc. until I met ( years ago ) an old woman in her ninety`s , that had been a nurse in the 1914/18 war , one could see she had been a very hansom woman and still was, although very old but still with a great strength of character . Yes ! They existed alright !
superb!
How could she turn down such an opportunity?
I live in the blackcountry, strange when you hear it in a program
Such a poignant ending. 😢
It was nice of the other nurses to put on her full make-up and do her lipstick while she was unconscious with the pox, they must have known the handsome and charming doctor would be in to see her as soon as she woke up 😁.
😂
Yes, very funny!
How lucky can she be, to have men wanting to marry and she rejects them, my question is, why cant she marry and still work and do what she likes best????. I dont understand.
Well women were expected to give up their jobs when they married in those days, so it would normally be assumed. However, I'm with you in wondering why she didn't even ask if it would be ok if she carried on working. He sort of hinted that he wouldn't mind but she ignored him as she was too busy being dramatic.
How lucky they were to be ABLE to stay home and raise their children and not be forced to do a useless job, for meager wages.
That choice has all but been robbed from us, it doesn’t seem to be working all that well either . Kids seem to need to be raised by a loving mother rather than by strangers who don’t love them and are paid pennies to only make sure they are kept alive from day to day(if you take issue with this you have clearly NEVER been in a daycare)
@@MissMarie1377 I agree women should have the choice and it's also much better for the children to be brought up by their own mother.
I was able to do both as we were running a pub but every day was a massive juggling act trying to give the business and children the attention they needed. Still it was good because they also got to see a lot of their dad. We left there when my youngest was four but I managed to get work that I could do from home (mostly when they were in bed) so although they had to learn to entertain themselves sometimes they've never had to go to daycare for which I consider myself very lucky indeed!
Is there an episode 3? and is it on youtibe? I can't find it!
