Saw velvet revolver before their first album came out. Nobody their knew what to expect. IT WAS EPIC!!! played a bunch of STP and G'N'R songs along with songs which were on the album when it was released. Ended the show playing negative creep by nirvana. It was CRAZY!
Loved it! And if you like Scott Weiland's voice, Stone Temple Pilots will not disappoint. Velvet Revolver was great in that moment, but STP was together for many years and created some seminal 90s rock. Edit: Check out Wicked Garden or Sex Type Thing
I play bass guitar as a hobby, and have played in a few bands that have done both Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver covers (same bassist). Duff is an unsung hero. You need to hear Fall to Pieces by this band. It's awesome.

Pretty heavy task since Duff had just got sober a lil while before. If Iggy Pop, Sid Vicious, and Jim Morrison had a musical Baby it would have been Scott

Their HUGE hit was Plush, and they also get a lot of airplay still with other big hits Wicked Garden, Sex Type Thing (which isn't x-rated, so don't be shy about listening), Interstate Love Song, Vasoline, Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart.
