I listened incessantly to this song, and the sublime album from which it was taken, in the last normal year of my life. I walked along the canal in glistening sun, and played in the park with my nephews, with this as the ongoing soundtrack - sometimes in my mind, often actually playing out loud. I had no idea that my life my about to change irredeemably within months. Now, this song is like crystal to me, I can barely touch it, but it is eternally, incredibly beautiful - even more so now than then - and a way to access the quiet slow motion sunshine my memory tells me that life once was.
i’m crying reading this comment and i don’t even know you. life may not ever go back to the way that it was, but Tolstoy said it best: “As long as there is life, there is happiness. there is a great deal, a great deal before us.” hold on for that. i believe in you.
Very powerful words difficult because they touch a nerve with so many others and remember the journey has many dreams to turn into experiences jump on them ❤️🙏
Is there a more honest, more vulnerable musical artist than Paul Buchanan? I don’t think so, he is astonishing with his ability to move. His musical journey with The Blue Nile is well worth visiting.
as all of our lives eventually fade into the half light, i'm continually floored by the way this song captures the fragile majesty of life itself, especially when we see it through the lens of the lives of our loved ones - the ones we adore, the ones we crave, the ones we cherish - it makes us realize just how magical life can be, and how in the end, it always seems to be suspended in mid air.
One of my favourite songs ever by one of my favourite ever singers. I wrote the below poem for it, and Paul. :) Standing in Mid Air For Paul Buchanan His voice is ice cracking a wind resting a hailstorm ending his voice is porcelain breathing a leaf falling embers fading his voice is the land sighing broken glass crunching a mirror misting his words are everything else
@@wwonka52 Hi Bill, thank you very much for taking the time to read. Paul recently played a few new songs in Glasgow so maybe there might be a new album on the horizon. :)
Discovered only a couple of days ago, where have I been? Better late than never, I suppose. So beautiful. The Blue Nile as well. Happy ears for days to come.
I cried the first time I heard this song and just cried now, the hundredth time !!! Mr. Buchanan permeates my soul to it's core with this rendition. I cannot imagine anyone else singing it and kind of hope no one else does.
Just lovely. Just beautiful. Ut's the sequel to Send in the Clowns - Isn't it rich? Are we a pair? Me here at last on the ground You in mid-air Send in the clowns

I find as I get older, my appreciation of Paul's work keeps opening my eyes to experiences rembered and I identify with them, such beauty at times such sad was wistfulness but joy, you can't have just without......
I really love this song so much, that someday and one day, this could be the first and without its end, the best-wedding song in my life... I Could TRAVEL BACK IN TIME, by this sincerest and most romantic-dramatic song in my known existence

Same here bro ! One of the best movies i’ve ever seen :,)
That's one of my favorite movies.
still love it to this day
Just watched About Time this week. Loved it and this song
If you could, what would you change in your past?
The achingly beautiful lifts and troughs of notes in perfect sequence stir my soul...I feel it, it touches me...makes me cry every time I listen ❤❤❤
The world is a more beautiful place because this exists. Thank you.
Ahhhh I heard glimpse of this in the movie” about time “ and immediately searched. Omg what emotions. Loveeeee it.
Check out Paul's other work with The Blue Nile
Yes, that was when I first heard it. Just heard it again in the pilot of "Shrinking" and used at a very right moment.
If you could, what would you change in your past?
A voice, a piano, a seemingly simple melody, with enough power to devastate emotionally :`)
Well said
Truly
A most touching song that I feel so blessed to have come across in the movie About Time.
About Time is a very beautiful film, and this song fit it so perfectly.
I'm so glad I listened during the end credits and heard this. What a beautiful song.

Stuning indeed
No nudity or profanity, just pure heart, soul and talent. Worth a thousand pop songs, truly beautiful song and wonderfully performed.
Please make more music Paul.
The world desperately needs more beauty such as this x
The kind of music that only comes from the heart of old men. A beautiful inspiration for me.

Discovered this in About Time, one of the best songs I've ever heard
Heart-breakingly beautiful.

Standing in Mid Air
For Paul Buchanan
His voice is ice
cracking
a wind
resting
a hailstorm
ending
his voice is porcelain
breathing
a leaf
falling
embers
fading
his voice is the land
sighing
broken glass
crunching
a mirror
misting
his words
are everything

Everytime it's shivers up the spine...I dunno what happens. Those songs of his are mesmerising...subtle, regretful...beyond beautiful.
I am humble in his presence. Truly a master work that should be treasured for ever.
John Richards absolutely
Sublime
This song expresses my whole love story.♥️
Lyrics
The buttons on your collar
The color of your hair
I think I see you everywhere
I want to live forever
And watch you dancing in the air
All the lies and make believe
The very things that one day leave
But I can see you standing in mid air
The girl I want to marry
Upon the high trapeze
The day she fell and hurt her knees
And only time can make you
The wind that blows away the leaves
For everything that life was worth
The fallen snow, the virgin birth
Yeah I can see her standing in mid air
I can see you standing in mid air.

Exceptional piece of music
Absolutely beautiful
Always loved Paul’s singing May he go on forever
What a wonderful voice.
Amazing performance. Mid Air is one of the most brilliant albums of 2012. And not getting all the attention that it derserves, sadly.
A good tune sir

슬픈듯 행복한 듯 노래가 따뜻하면서도 애잔하고 외로워요 샤갈의 공중에 둥둥 떠있는 그림들이 연상되는 노래
это музыка пробудила меня....
He's just put into song and words the defining reason for my life. To say thank you would be petty.
