First finally
Hello Paul
congrats on 200k paul
I would love to hear an appraisal of how the virus is and has affected your channel and how you see your channel going forward giving what's going on in the world! Maybe you would even record a video from home giving us a heads up about your plans
Wingin’ It! Paul Lucas please load the Kiwi flight report. Also love your channel. Big fan.
I literally forgot that the bush fires happened... what a ride 2020 has been.
That may be the understatement of the year.
And it's only half over!
Mate, the bush fires happen more often than you’d think. I live in the bush and the media are only interested in us when its suits their narrative. Glad you enjoyed your trip to OZ: do come again!
@@wrongtracksuit or you know, they make the news when they're the largest since 1974?
I have to tell you that your videos helped me get over my fear of flying. I had never been on a plane, but when I turned 50, I wanted to go to Hawaii. I watched a lot of flying videos beforehand. It helped me know what to expect and that there’s no need to be afraid. I flew from Atlanta to Honolulu (9 hours) for my very first trip. It was awesome! And I’m so happy I got past my fear!
The best way to deal with fear of flying is learning how planes actually work, you basically have an understanding how extremely safe flying is. Especially learning about turbulence.. and the fact it’s only slow air moving against fast air.. it’s as simple as that
Yes Paul.. these uploads have helped me alot through this lockdown
Me too 😝 Glad I’ve had some work to do!
Luke 100%. I can imagine I’m living in a world where we’re back to normal flying wise. I so miss it all. Paul great video and glad to hear Virgin will hopefully back to business soon now Bain has scored!
Thank you for a great review of the Virgin Australia domestic product. I’m a VA long haul employee, stood down, and it’s great to see continued appreciation for our brand product and service. It’s just a shame you didn’t get to try out our flagship 777’s between Aus and the USA as I’m sure you would have loved it. Thank you again.
aaron794 I got to fly Premium Economy twice LAX-SYD and loved it! The best PE product yet! So sad that I’ll probably never experience it again 😔
6:17 cabin crew making the popcorn
If this was on a 737 Max I'd be bringing DOUBLE the popcorn.
Thanks for entertaining us during lockdown!
Love the BunnikTours bag belt tag at 0:42 XD Australia is such a fascinating country/continent, definitely a bucket list place to visit. Brilliant review as always Paul!
Thank you Paul, the last row of the couch cabin reminds me of a 12-hour flight with constant toilet flushing and door banging. Never again!
Thanks Paul. I only flying Virgin, and have found their staff amazing, and services on board great. I, too, hope they are back in the air soon
Early Sunday morning flights are my favorites! They just seem so fresh & energizing. Envigorating!
I feel so bad for our families down under with all of their fire damage. Even in Arizona we are dealing with the effects of the Cali fires. I lived there thru the Laguna mountain fires in the mid '70's. Up all night hosing down our roofs to keep them from igniting.
Honestly Paul you are the most underrated aviation vlogger ever. Always have amazing and informative videos! Your videos have certainly made my Australian quarantine better 🤟
I really hope that Bain Capital is able to turn Virgin Australia around
Bain is a vulture company they buy up companies, fire a bunch of employees and then sell off the parts for a big profit.
@@garystrankman3841 Isn't that Mitt Romney's professional razor gang? No doubt they'll just do what Joyce did a few years ago with Qantas and make it leaner and meaner. It's a shame Borghetti's sums couldn't match his vision as they really gave Qantas' domestic product a kick up the behind in recent years.
Perhaps there really isn't room for 2 large, full service carriers within and out of Australia?
I saw the bunnik tours bag strap...
Nice subtle touch
I would love to go to australia, it looks like a nice country
We would love to have you visit us once this virus problems has been sorted. We always welcome friendly folks.
Dominus yes, that’s true. I live in Australia, I recommend visiting Western Australia, nsw, qld, fuck it. They’re all great states.
@@unknowntraveller8633 We sure are.
If you do visit the NT, real outback shit
Thank you for (possibly) choosing Qantas, the spirit of Australia
Not a bad review, but it's really missing something, or even someone!
All Aussie reviews need a guest appearance from Dennis 🇦🇺 😜
Absolutely rapt that someone else noticed the SA-VIC border from the air! I've seen that quite a few times on the ADL-MEL flights and when you tell people, they give you a quizzical look!
a week ago i should have been in las vagas for a week but the virus ruined that, thats the holiday ive missed this year
Another Aussie Video!
All Aussies rejoice!
Still got a Qantas A330 business class video to post :-)
@@Paul_Lucas Oh yes
Growing up in Perth and living in Sydney, Virgin Australia's T1 was like a second home to me since it opened. Now that VA has gone into a rocky situation, it looks like I'll only be flying with Qantas from now on. It's good to see one of my favourite RUclipsrs in Perth.
Great video mate! Hope you are able to travel again soon! Shouldnt be too long I hope
As a “yank” and used to our mediocre in flight service here in the states, I was quite surprised when I flew this same route last year during my visit to Australia. I had flown SYD-PER on a Virgin Australia A-330 and was surprised to have been given lunch in economy! And on my return, I was on the red-eye to SYD on their 737-800, and was given dinner!
I was also shocked that, at least in the domestic terminal in Perth, friends could accompany you to the departure gate when you were flying out, something that’s nothing but a memory here. Because of that, and my friend’s gold status on Virgin, we got to hang out in the lounge that night before my flight out.
My Skyteam Silver status was recognized by Virgin and I managed to talk them into an upgrade to “economy X” in the exit row - very comfy and free booze too!
Probably with the partnership with Delta
Was flying out of the Gold Coast last year and my friends also accompanied me to the gate. They just walked through security with me, no boarding pass check, and then back out through arrivals once I'd left.
Nice tripreport, as always!
I was lucky back in December 2018 and flew on the Fokker 100 on exactly the route you mentioned, from Perth to Adelaide. :D
Great videos Paul, especially your train journeys. Keep them coming
Honestly Virgin economy class is/was such good value. They also added much needed competition on the NZ/Pacific routes.
Great Trip Report! I hope Virgin Australia do survive post COVID-19. They seem to have a very solid product, and comparative service against Qantas!✈️
They have been sold to Bain, so wait and see what they end up like
For me Mashed Potatoes must have both lots of butter and pepper. Always enjoy your videos, looking forward to when travel is somewhat back to normal.
Thought this was an old video good to see you still pushing content but by during lockdown
I would also like to mention that for any T-Tail enthusiast, Qantas also operates a large fleet of Fokker 100 (17) and Boeing 717-200 (20) aircraft under there regional subsidiary, QantasLink
Ah what happy memories this brought back! I flew with Virgin Australia in late August last year (2019) from Perth to Brisbane - and sat in one of the 8 business class seats. I have to say, everything was amazing - from check in to the lounge, the seat, service, flight, views, etc etc. Wish I was back there now not sat in a cold London and wondering if travel will ever be so carefree again (and that's post 9/11 carefree - I remember really carefree travel...) Love the videos!
So much more of a positive tone to your last couple videos which has been wonderful! Enjoyable to what again 🥰
You seem to have a soft spot for our country. I like your vids. Been watchin over these tricky times. You obviously are gifted in travel writing and i presume video editing. ( music is well balanced to )I realize theres a lot to what you do and i commend you for your professional thorough approach. Well done. and as i write a little "subscribe ' click icon comes up whilst you are on the tarmac sooooooooooooooo time to do my bit to help your channel. Ding. there ya go. subscribed
Loved the trip report. What a change of pace after the long rail journey!
Looks quite good for the price! I love the mood lighting, i wish that i could fly more.
What a nice trip. Thanks Paul.
Paul,
When you board using an air bridge or see them from a distance these planes don't seem so big, but with the way you boarded, they are HUGE.
The Wright Brothers would have been amazed.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Terminals 3 and 4 at Perth are the international terminals. Subject to creditors approval in August 2020, Virgin Australia will be be owned by American based Bain Capital, who will operate the airline initially as a domestic airline on a LCC/FSC hybrid business model.
I absolutely love your videos. They’re such high quality and to me, are rewatchable! Keep up the great work!
Blimey Paul another excellent video from you, loved it. Thanks for bringing these to us. I definitely prefer your videos like this when you are just doing 'ordinary' flights and simply travelling about in areas that are not so well known and not so common to see. Thank you. Great video.
Wow that must have been a bumpy flight! Thank you for uploading all your content - even though we can't fly I enjoy these videos
Have spent many times spotting and catching flights to Melbourne at Terminal 1, was also involved in the public testing back in 2015, never knew you could pay to get in the lounge though. Hope you enjoyed your time in Perth!
I am quarantined in my apartment in NYC loosing my mind. Your videos have kept me from going completely crazy. Thanks! Are you flying again?
Please do. Running out of videos!
Again a great video Paul. Thank you i've missed your video's. Greetings from the Netherlands🇱🇺
I would recommend visiting Taiwan in the future (probably my bias), especially flying any of the Taiwanese airlines such as China airlines (confusing name I know) or Eva air; it’s a fun country with really friendly people, so when all of this is over, can be considered you wouldn’t regret it!🇹🇼
Not so confusing...it is the REPUBLIC of China after all
Man... if you like Taiwan, visit South Korea. The most friendly people on the continent.
It's definitely on my list on the way home to Brisbane. Would love to go to Computex! The real China as a friend of mine from Taiwan used to say. I've heard great things about both EVA and China airlines' business class products out of London.
EVA Air is an amazing airline. My brother has been to Taiwan twice and loves it, real Chinese culture, but also very advanced as well.
Wonderful to see you were in Perth. I’m a huge admirer of your work and secretly hoped you’d stay in the Perth hotel I work in! Gutted you sailed through untouched. Did you stay long in the city?
Sydney to Perth via rail (Indian Pacific): 4 days. Perth to Sydney flying: 4 hours. Coincidence?
I found your channel only yesterday and i really enjoy it! Great stuff!
Fantastic video Paul. Keep up the good work. Many thanks
Another great video as always @Wingin' It! Paul Lucas. I did a similar trip a couple of years ago but from Perth to Melbourne on Tiger airways. Their "terminal" at Melbourne is very strange - like a tiger cage, if you'd believe it. They're not bad though and very cheap. Might be worth a look if you are ever back that way and if they are still in business.
It is interesting you can see the border from up there! Virgin Australia? I heard they filed for Chapter 15 but was recently bought which is good news
Yep Bain Capital are going to buy them
@@lachd2261 good to hear I might be able to spend the flight points I claimed the other day
Hi Paul, I've just started watching you. I live in New Zealand and am looking forward to seeing the video of the flight you take when you fly over here. My dream is to fly over to your side of the world but as this is such an awful time for flying, I will have to wait. I love seeing what airlines would be the best ones to fly. Thanks so much for all your amazing videos! Please keep these coming.
Cant wait to see virgin australia back to its original roots a no frills airline with a friendly service
Another fantastic vlog Paul
Something to keep in mind about airlines in Australia - on most economy domestic flights with the full service carriers (Qantas and Virgin) you will generally get a meal and checked baggage included, even on the 1-2 hour flights between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. However as a result the prices are higher than Europe or America. If you want to fly for cheap in Australia, go for a budget airline like Tiger (owned by Virgin) or Jetstar (owned by Qantas).
And run the risk of the flight being cancelled without notice, or being delayed 2+ hours? No thanks, most of my hours are in VA and QF for this very reason.
MonstaAU Omg I was delayed 3 days (!!!) by Jetstar once from Sydney to Adelaide. They had to cancel a flight, but all the flights were full. I just gave up and bought tickets for Virgin.
Both butter AND pepper for my mashed! Another great video, Paul!
As always love your videos 😁
Love your Videos Paul provides me an escape and inspiration for when I can get back out and travel again.
Hi Paul
Another great video my friend, for once I can say I have done that flight and like you I was very happy with the service from the crew. Looking forward as always to your next video.
Kind regards
DS
Love all the trip reports
I have been to Australia. I would love to go again.
I love Virgin Australia. Always great service, and the food is always fantastic (Esp their bacon!!!). Covid-19 has really done a number on the company sadly, but they have a buyer, and hopefully they can pull them through. Would hate to lose this wonderful airline.
Was on that flight up un business class wished I'd have known you were too
Love your videos as they are very informational!
Virgin Australia has A320’s?
Thought they only had 737’s, A330’s, 777’s, ATR’s and F100’s.
Can someone explain. Thanks👍
Pretty sure they are only in WA and generally operate the mining charters. I remember a while ago they flew to Christmas Island with it as Well
They have some ex-TT A320's on Mining charter. They were moved out there to make more money as they are higher capacity than the F100's. They are to be returned to lessor shortly after the Bain Capital buyout.
buttery peppery mash is elite
Really enjoyed your Aussie adventure ,i was there in January,,brings back memories
Another great flight report! I especially love this one as, I’ve flown it on infinite flight many a times. Even though I’ve never been to Australia
Another great report Paul. Glad you enjoyed Virgin Australia - they are a great airline (my airline of choice pre-coronavirus). It's a shame they're in administration but hopefully the sale goes through and they go from strength to strength in a post-lockdown world.
Excellent Paul, keep up the good work! 👍 😎
His vids keep me going during quarantine but i know damn well i wont fly more then half of the seats he reviews
It appears Virgin Australia will survive as an airline here in Australia with new owners which is good news for travellers and me as a Platinum Frequent Flyer...I was a bit worried there for a while with all my points in jeopardy !! Port Lincoln is very wealthy due to fishing !! Mainly due to Tuna fishing...whale watching and getting into a cage and being lowered in to the water near a Great White Shark (not for me !!) Great review as always Paul and am looking forward to your next adventure to Fiji ( lucky bugger) PS Loved the train trip and did post a comment on it...brilliant stuff mate !!
Them seats look comfy!
Thank you Paul for the video.
I hope Virgin Australia will survive the crisis we're going on.
I noticed, they restarted to operate here.
Wow, awesome trip report as always Paul! If you’re ever in the area, would you fly into Tampa on Allegiant? Also, would you ever fly Interjet, Aer Lingues, or Brussels Airlines?😸😻😸
VA are my favourite Australian airline, fly them whenever I can, nice to see their 320's in the vlog, their Business is really good, good vlog as always Paul
How do you edit your videos and what editor do you use?
They use the Alliance Fokker 70/100 for operations on behalf of VA in brisbane. Like port macquaire to brisbane is on the alliance airlines fokker 70.
Love your videos. Thank you so much for keeping us entertained during this global pandemic. Hope you and your family safe and well. Have you got many trips planned for when travel can open back up. Keep up the good work Paul!
Takes me back to my FIFO days (Fly in Fly out). Flew from Melbourne to Port Hedland and return fortnightly on Fokker100s and 737s.
Had to use economy X as i'm too tall to fit in the normal seats lol. Econ x was the main reason i chose virgin over Qantas.
Hope they pull through, still have my Gold status and HAD business to LA and back in April
Another unmissable review Paul! 🤩Virgin Australia certainly beats a certain orange flavoured UK carrier for domestic service 😉 I like the price structure, everything included in the ticket price. Enjoy your adventures 🙂
When will you travel again?
As an expat Brit , living in Australia I have flown VOZ many times . It’s sad that we will no longer be able to enjoy the full service carrier treatment from them in the future , the “ new “ Virgin Australia being modelled as a hybrid carrier . I liked the “ lack of civilisation down there “ comment , yes that’s Australia in a nutshell . Cheers Paul, and I’m looking forward the FJ review .
I normally fly SFO-SYD-PER-SYD-SFO on holiday at least once per year. Always Virgin Australia for for the trans-Australia legs. I normally get the upgrade to business by using the VA auction. But who knows such flying will be possible again. Meanwhile, thanks for the trip report.
Can't wait for the Fiji review now.
Another great review - love watching these! I guess I’ll just dream on about travelling properly until I can. By the way, after lockdown could you do a Swiss (or Austrian) review?
Good video Paul I would like to travel on that train
Nice to see you still slumming it sometimes.
Virgin Australia are great! I fly them everywhere I go, including to Perth a few years ago
I try not to take back of aircraft on a long flight - not so much bcause of toilets but because engine noise is much louder back there. Australasia though is very much on short bucket list
I agree with you about Virgin Australia im not sure whether they will fly again in the future but i hope they do fantastic video thanks Paul
Looking forward to the Fiji flight, I flew them a few times up front last year, great flights, great people, sadly I saw a couple of reviews where the crew was less than stellar, something I can honestly say I never came across either on the airline or on the islands.
It's a pity your flights into Sydney, both virgin and jetstar came in from the south. The landing from the north gives great views of the northern beaches,Sydney harbour,Opera house harbour Bridge.....everything. Just be sure to always book a window on the left hand side. By the way, bush fires are gone, now we just have a disease.Yippee
I would love to hear an appraisal of how the virus is and has affected your channel and how you see your channel going forward giving what's going on in the world! Maybe you would even record a video from home giving us a heads up about your plans
Hello from Renton, WA. USA (all 737s are assembled here).
I was wondering how Boeing delivered short-hall aircraft to Australia, assume they fly from Seattle across the Pacific with stops along the way.
If you want some real tasty smashed potato, try with a dash of milk, blob of butter and sprinkle of pepper and mashed up to a creamy and delicious space on your plate....also, try mashing up some carrots and swede again with a dash of milk & pepper…………bugger, now I’m hungry 😋
Vale old VA.
Paul try mash with lots of butter and curry powder.
Interesting. When I flew them from Bali to Brisbane which is about 5 hours they only served water juice and coffee for free. Everything else had to be purchased
Great video and a decent product by Virgin. Let’s hope full international travel will come back soon! I’m looking forward to your flight report about Fiji Airways!
I Fancy the Back Seats too!
Thanks Paul. Appreciate your vlogs
