Does anyone agree that brilliant move #2 , in which they explore the alien structure, could’ve been more justified if they had a rebellious character who went rogue and explored the alien structure despite the other characters telling them not to because it’s stupid. I feel like then you could have a decision making scene and make the writing look less goofy.
Why are there so many that say they enjoyed this film. It started of shit with a weird muscle bound hairless dude next to a waterfall, then just got progressively more shit. Amazing cast could not save this boring and predictable storyline.
The cinematography is awesome, it has a serious tone, great cast, and it introduces some "deep" questions and topics. So it gives the illusion of containing something mysterious and profound. However the questions go unanswered, are waved away, or when they are given they lack any sense of coherence or logic if actually scrutinized. My guess is that just like Lost, some just like it for the mood and sense of mystery - despite it turning out to be superficial. And that's fine, but it's not for me. But some seem to belive they have been watching something truly meaningful, although they can't really explain what or how afterwards, as there was nothing to be learned and no insights to be had. There's just a big mess of suspense-building around Existance and Meaning and Creation and Religion, with no regards whatsoever to plot holes and inconsistencies. For them, the movie succeeded in conveying a sense of depth, while completely ignoring or spitting in the face of any real depth. And that really bothers me.
@@samplerInfo The engineer is a penis, the alien is a vagina that disrupts the expectations and existence of the engineer. The engineer is the most superior being in all of existence, it has control over the alien and uses it as a tool to “manage” worlds, exterminate when needed, until the engineer takes its existence for granted and loses control over it, allowing the xenomorph to take dominance over the engineer, thus rendering the engineer inconsequential. You’re welcome
I liked it only because of the arrival at the planet. But all the other parts are so dumb that I think they deserved their fate, including the engineers. It's a whole dumb universe.
All this movie was missing was one of the alleged researchers stripping down to their civvies and charging into the alien structure like an 8-year-old hopped up on Pixie Stix on their first field trip.
Prometheus is a genius film compared to the shitty cash grab Alien Romulus. I don't think the script is perfect but it's much more interesting than any of the more recent ones. Romulus may be the shittiest of the entire series, but critics gave it rave reviews. Are there any standards at all for film quality?
Yes, because it doesn't explain anything, so it seems dumb. Also, the movie creates a lot of mysteries which are never solved or lead to absolutely convoluted plot lines
@@gabrielgoes0 I think the movie answered the questions at the beginning in terms of “who made us” but then asked the new question of “why did they want to destroy us”. I think that was supposed to be answered in the sequel but they pivoted hard away from the engineers storyline and went back to the aliens storyline.
@patrickfalcon8107 yeah, the thing is the movie hyped itself to act as a prequel exactly to tell us the origin and some answers regarding the Alien universe, but in the end, at least for myself, there were more questions unanswered than the other way. Everything was so unnecessarily cryptic as well. But Brandon, specifically in this video, was talking about writing that leads to dumb unnecessary moments, and I agree with him. It's not that more exposition is always good, but when it explains (especially through showing us actions of the characters) some of the motives behind actions, they become more believable and organic
@@patrickfalcon8107 I think the point of pretty much everything described is because “man is flawed.” Their own demise comes at their own hands. Which is reflected in the engineers being attacked, overcome by, and made less superior than, the alien. Also, I hope you’re not missing the clear metaphor of the engineers being “the father” and the Aliens being “The mother,” and how that might answer pretty much everything you’re looking for
@ how are the aliens/xenomorphs the mother of humanity? I get that the engineers are humanity’s father but I don’t see how the aliens are our mother. Your “man is flawed” point makes sense though. We are repeating our creators’ mistakes
And then Alien Covenant made the scientist even dumber.

How about "the air is breathable, so it must be safe to take off my helmet" 🤦🏼♂️
LoL. I need Brandon to produce a comedy commentary track for Prometheus 😂
it’s like a typical horror/slasher film,if the characters used common sense it would be a VERY short movie, smh 😬
The map expert gets lost??? Haven't seen this movie yet and frankly it's moved down the list.

Could be one of those, "it's so bad that it's good" or they like to laugh at it and that gives them a good time.
Some people watch a movie and dont question it. If you do even the best movies dont make sense.

The Nostromo and the space marines from Aliens was the only crew with any semblance of survival instinct.

How does a biologists think petting a strange alien creature is okay? A common person knows not to pet a strange dog
Such a fun movie. Soundtrack is fire.
Everybody seems to be roasting the two idiots messing with the Hammerpede. A normal person would've been high stepping out of there.

Jesus Christ, why can’t the movie be as good as I remember it? 😭😭😭😭😭
It has a nice atmosphere but plot-wise, jesus fucking Christ
I actually enjoyed this movie but you are making really good points lol
both Alien prequels were a waste of film, not everything needs to be explained, some mystery as to the creature’s origins enhances the storyline 🤔
As long as tickets sell we'll continue these "brilliant moves".
The map expert gets lost lol
Last name Turner first name Paige
They do have a robot in the crew, it was just running its own agenda.
This movie was a mess for me.
You could not refund my ticket cost enough times for this piece of crap. And I was STOKED to see it when it came out.
Oh😮-
And there are people that think this movie is brilliant
This movie is just like Lost. I wonder who wrote it.
They were probably….LOST!

Har har. I still find this plot more logically sound than the plot of Avengers: Endgame.
So the movie tries not to beat you over the head with exposition = bad???? 😂
