Wowza, that flatter was rough man, you did a nice job. That's a darn neat trick with water and torch to find little cracks. Never seen that done. Sheep wagon is looking cozy! Have a good week and hope you get through those many irons in the fire!
Ya someone really took after it with a big sledge or something! That trick works really well, you just have to watch it really close or you might miss it. Thanks, I hope you have a good week as well!
Very handy tip to detect cracks, thanks. I'm soooooo old I remember sheepherders in Southern Idaho with their herd and their sheep wagons blocking the roads for what seemed like hours.
I put the tool i'm fixing in the vice and break the mushrooming off with light hammer blows and you can see where the cracks are. I have also used a grinder to cut off the damaged bits as well, like you did. tanks for the video.
I bought an entire box of mixed ball peen hammers at an estate sale just to get a handled top chisel that was mixed in with them. It needed a little clean up also, but I was thrilled to save it from a life as a weird hammer! For your stove pipe, you’ll likely be able to use one length of 6”, and a 6” to 4” reducer collar. A full 3’ long piece of 6” pipe will squeeze to an oval on one end and stay round on the other, and you can put the reducer on there. that’s how we did it on our sheep wagon stove.
Good tool recover/repair. I always wonder about there history/life. I like to see when they are given an extension. Good update on the wagon! LOL on the oops!
Please do not use filler music, I would rather hear the shop noises or nothing at all, if I want music playing in videos, I can always play it in the background myself.
You could also turn the volume down on your device and imagine what those shops sounds would be like. This would do two things-one, it would improve your creative thought processes and, two, you wouldn’t sounds like an ass telling him what to do with his videos

I really enjoy this part of blacksmithing. The hunt for the tools, the people met during the search, and bringing tools back to service.
Ya it is one of my favorite things too, mostly the hunt! I couldn't pass a junk pile on my three wheeler as a kid without stopping 🙂
..Glad you brought that flatter back into service. papaw used to say- "..take care of your tools and they will take care of you."...
Thanks! I feel the same way!

You are welcome! That's a neat memory. I've had the privilege of blocking many roads horseback with cows; but not yet with sheep.

Thanks! I love to give them a new lease on life. It makes a sad tool a happy tool!! 😊
That music really throws a man, same thing Keith Rucker uses for his opening and closing on his videos, first thought app was having issues 😂
Darn free music on youtube! 😂
Surprised you didn't weld a piece of square stock back on the back to give a better hammering surface.
It crossed my mind but I don't plan on using this one heavy.
You can brush it with batterie acid it'll show all cracks
That's a good one, thanks!

@@chrism3839 it’s not that you said something, it’s your tone. Nothing wrong with offering advice, just maybe in a nicer way.
