I like seeing kids getting involved helping out with their parents. It's good fundamentals for life and beings great memories as well. Keep up the good work and God bless you and your family.
She said she wanted to help but then took forever to come out, but then she showed up finally with snacks so it was ok! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Very nice. I have machined a thrust washer & I have cast one from aluminum. Next time I might have to forge one. I miss my kids being in the shop with me. .. I'm in the shop with my dad as often as I can.
Ya the forged one shouldn't be a problem for you! I love when my kids come work in the shop, I have a lot of fond memories of working with my Grandpa in the shop.
Great video! Always good and tasty when the "Apprentice" brings treats!!..lol I like that post vice repair/update is done traditionally! Keep the videos coming! Hope your thru this cold spell!
Thanks Bob! Yup we made it through the cold snap and now it feels like spring out there, it is 64 degrees and I'm building sheep fence for my wife. I do hope it cools off and we get some moisture though!
Great video! Just received my Daddy- inlaws Blacksmiths leg vise and looking to restore it. Missing the thrust washer and needs a little adjustment on the spring to push open jaws. I'll have to try to locate a Blacksmith to make me one or go to the Amish in Tennessee and see if they make me one. As I'm here in Alabama. Vise you have looks identical to the one i have but mine has the corner built up about an inch to hold small stuff and I've not seen one like it. May have been something Daddy in Law added. As he was a Blacksmith.
I've never seen one like that but a lot of tools are modified to suit ones personal use. Good luck getting it restored, if you are ever in Central Montana you could drop it by and I'd be happy to fix it for you!
I'll tell you what is perfect, it's that little helper standing next to you! She stole the show!!
Thanks, she is good help and a goofball!

Thank you for your very kind comment! We try to involve our kids as much as we can in everything we do.
..Good thing the apprentice/QC/inspector/snack bringer was there. Great job on that washer, well done sir...!

Sweet forge weld Jayce. That's not easy forge welding smaller material. You've got a good daughter and helper there! Take it easy!
Thanks! Ya it was really cooling off on me. If I hadn't been filming I probably would have just done a one heat weld. She is a good shop helper!
I'm sure moving the cameras around slows ya down quite a bit!! Lol
Matched fit beating the bolt into the washer. 😎
Great content ! Clear, practical and inspiring. Keep them coming 🙂
Thank you for the compliment, I am glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. I have a couple of vices that I will go check out and see what they are missing. I learned a lot from this video.
Oh good, I'm glad. I have quite a few post vise videos if you are interested in checking those out. Thanks!
I loved the plane. Good having a young helper in the forge. Nice job on the washer, loots like it was made for the vise. Thank you Jayce for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Ya the plane got a pretty wild paint job but she was proud of it. I might need to check my spray paint inventory now though...

Great job. Looks like a good forge weld.
It did weld up pretty nice. The thin stuff can be tough to do since it likes to cool off quick. Thanks for stopping by!
Love the teamwork
Thank you, it was fun having her help!
