Thanks 👍
Appreciate this!!
This would have been a better way to do the comparison, so you don't have to go back and forth.
I love my CE and CU24s but I'm dying to try a DGT. I love the gold top with the birds too. I was looking at one just like that on Reverb. Great choice!
They are fantastic guitars for sure
I just got a 509 this past year, but need to add one of these to my arsenal, both are fantastic.
Hard to choose between all the different models out there!
Love my Custom 24, but was hoping to find a Custom 22 in charcoal cherry when I bought the 24, to compare them. Zak, your video is great, because it has shown me that it doesn't matter. I don't have space for both. Either would have been awesome. Not at all unhappy with the 24. I am not a good enough guitarist to worry about the differences. Thanks!
The great thing about PRS is that they’re all solid guitars 😁 thanks for watching Andy
Got the goldtop w/birds & love it,have custom 24,stripped 58 also & a couple SE's
That's awesome!! Great guitars.
I have a 2022 core 24-08 faded whale blue shipping to me now! I've wanted a PRS for years and finally bit the bullet. I own many other guitars including Gibson custom shop and fender strat and tele so I wanted something more modern and this video solidifies that 🎸🤘
You’re going to LOVE it! Just take care of it and it’ll do you well. It’s still on my tour case almost 3 years later.
Every DGT I have played sound very High Def. I think it has to do with the 6100 frets. My 2008 DGT is a great great example of that. It's more of everything compared to my other guitars. Love it.
It has a very full sound to it for sure!
Great video I’m a new to your station and subscribed. Good stuff, I’m a PRs nut, I just bought my 6th. It’s a disease
Also where’s you get that truss rod cover. I wanted to dress mine up.
Thank you Brian! WTC Inlays in Canada. High quality, fast turnaround, and great pricing. Tell them I recommended them to you!
They both sound Great and look Great...hard for Me to pick which one is better....
I love both. The 24-08 stays in my road case and the DGT is currently in the studio. Great guitars.
Hi Zack, i wonder, why you‘ve got two PP-Pots. Did you buy it used? My DGT is original and has only one PP-Pot. BTW…i love my DGT so much❤
I modified it so that I could have individual coil splitting for each pick up!
I have mixed feelings about PRS's. To me, in no way does it replace a LP that is much warmer, or a 335 that's more defined. Yes, it is versatile, the controls allow you to split the pickups and the 2 separate volume pots give you a large palette of tones. Still, Teles and Strats are a thing of their own and you can't get evrything out of one guitar. It's got stunning loolks, feels right (apart from the body's rim that protrudes uncomfortably in your forearm), plays right with its nice neck carve and big jumbo frets. I'd say PRS have got their own flavor, some like it some don't, their high def output won't suit everybody's taste. Goods guitars for sure, but not indispensable in an arsenal.
Yeah, he lost me with that comment. Ain’t no way in hell, that PRS is replacing a 335. And by the way I just bought a American PRS Custom. PRS are more modern sounding and that’s the appeal for me.
How much bigger do the DGT frets feel vs. Cu24? Also, are there any differences in the body size? They look like the same cut but I've heard DGT is thicker?
Thicker body and neck, and taller frets. It's is noticeable.
Wonderful guitars. To my ears, I like the C2408 better. But I know you can tone down the DGT. I am also not a gigger.... I am a very rudimentary finger stylist that plays solo and only for family and maybe friends if they happen to be here. These are way more guitar than I would ever need. LOL Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely! They are amazing guitars for sure. Thanks for watching.
I have that same core custom 24, let me ask you, it is worth it to get another core if im getting the DGT? Or can i get there with the custom 24? How different are they?
Two different guitars. They play, sound, and feel different. I ended up keeping the Core 24-08 and sold the DGT after realizing I didn't need both.
Great video, I am after a Custom 24. what color yours ?
Thanks for watching! It’s called Aquamarine.
@@ZackSeifMusic thanks mate
Mint looking top on the 24 considering it's an SE.
It's a Core model 😄 both of them are
@@ZackSeifMusic oh yeah, i thought the carve looked great too, but i didn't even know they made a 24-08 core model. so i guess it's the same with all the SE variants, like they all have a Core model big brother?
I forgot to ask as...that's some expensive gear you have there, do you play for a living? I was a professional muso for a number of years, but I'm a contractor now. I like to tinker around at home though...when I'm not too lazy 😁
Thank you very much! The custom 24 is a 10 top?
It is not!
The 24-08 looks fantastic, but the DGT sounds like it has a bit more punch with the leads. DGT also sounds like an acoustic with the cleans. I need to pull my PRS out and play it more, because this is giving me GAS for another. 😂
You need to buy another😁
i was surprised, in this particular video the cu24 sounds better to my ears, ive got a cu24 08 myself and its an excellent gigging guitar, i can get anything out of it and it sounds just fine,
They are fantastic sounding guitars
I just ordered a 2017 custom 2410 top. It was between that or an Ernie Ball music man jp 15. Which stays in tune better. Or dgt core?
They all can hold tune equally the same as long as they are set up properly.
I think a common misconception is that everything works right out the box for everyone's playing style and preferences. Guitars are set up a specific way at the factory, that doesn't mean that it'll play the best for you.
So I highly recommend that you get it properly set up with your preferred string gauge and string action, and then as long as each floating bridge is properly balanced you should be fine.
I time at the beginning of every set and 9 out of 10 times I'm totally fine. But remember the more that you use a tremolo bridge the more likely a string will go out of tune.
In my experience the PRS tends to hold tune more, but I use the music man guitar more because I prefer how it plays and sounds. It doesn't bother me if I have to spend 10 seconds double checking the tuning every few songs.😄
Unless you get the Custom 24 with the Floyd Rose and the lock nuts on it
Years ago I had an Ibanez, with a Floyd and lock nuts. Stayed in tune for weeks
But thanks for the advice
I also have a 24-08 and dgt best combo to have in a collection
They compliment each other very well in a mix and also a love setting!
I just get overwhelmed with PRS, every time I think I decided on a model , I hear another model and then I can't decide lol, These guitars will both cover anything ,they"re both incredible, but at the end of the day its really what neck feels most comfortable for me, and you can't have two favorite guitars , so pick one !😡
I still believe the Custom 24-08 is the most versatile PRS out there. Thinnest neck they offer, 24 frets, coil splitting, and looks great.
Do you think the cable impacts the tone? People never believe me but I swear Mogami cables sound better!
You know, that is a very interesting question and a topic for a whole other video! However I do swear by Mogami for 1/4" cables, and use Hosa for most of my XLRs. There becomes a point of diminishing returns, but you CAN buy a cheaper cable that doesn't have the longevity, reliability, and top end retention that a more expensive cable will have!
Yes and yes. Mogami 2524 are my favorite I have tried. Cables, especially the first cable that goes from your guitar to whatever else you are using not only affects the tone but also how the volume knob reacts. So overlooked by most people.
They both sound pretty much the same in the video...probably much more different in person.
Are running some type of trem block?
Yes. 3-D printed blocks!
The DGT has a sparkle that the 24 08 doesn't.
There is surely a difference!!
IMHO, the 24-08 sounded noticeably better in the mix. DGT was more muffled. Same for the Clean head to head.
It does have more punch to it
Does DGT sound like gibson more than CU24?
100%
I have 24/08 but I found it too modern I also use mini rec what II found about cu 24 08 is too much aggresiveness and very hot pickups changing pickups is definetly solution but I think I ll let her go
Very interesting to hear. My 24-08 is less aggressive than my Kiesel and Musicman guitars. The switching system in the PRS makes it super versatile, have you tried lowering the pickup heights yet? And also dialing back down presence on your amp can help tame as well.
@@ZackSeifMusic thanks for the advices sir I tried lowering Pus yes but ıts not it its the general sdesign of the guitar what I think maybe amp matters here Im observing you are using fractal which is fantastic maybe If I would use Fender or soemthing it will be different but I love mesa mini recs which are cool with strats but maybe not working with it ... are you playing it with amps ? also
@@huuss Yes I use a Mesa Boogie JP-2C and it’s super clear and articulate. The speaker cabinet matters a lot as well.
I prefer the 24-08 in this comparison
Such great guitars, that's why it was a pleasure owning both. I kept the 24-08 though.
I own two lesser PRS guitars, so I KNOW they can sound fantastic. But, the audio in this video reinforces the "sterile" PRS tone trope. Both guitars come across as synthetic and bland, and it's obviously not the player. Something is happening to the signal after it exits the guitars, and it ain't good.
I didn't like the bend note on the end of your solos, if you get rid of it you could have more of a stargazer Richie Blackmores rainbow feel to it
The bend just made it feel dull and too feminine for what it's going for is all
The DGT's frets are too large. Some guy's love 'em. I don't.
They are large in size, yes. I find it easier to play though since the frets are closer to the strings in that regard and I don’t have to press down as much.
