She's Giulia Taverna, and this video is composed of some shots from the short film called Julia filmed ten years ago, and current shots, when Giulia is older. Actually it's the same girl.
But the younger version is singing some of the lyrics from the song...unless the director painstakingly found footage to look as if she is lipsynching?

I once spent a warm summer night on the boardwalk of Coney Island after watching some fireworks. While sitting at the isolated end of the boardwalk, I listened to this wonderful tune being played by a guy with his amp and guitar. This song with the sound of ocean waves in the background in the dead of night and absence of all other people is a memory that I will never forget.
For all of those who are wondering this video was made using clips from a 13 minute short called Julia. The actress you see in this video is named Giulia Taverna. The short is basically about a young girl who is sent by her mother to live with her grandfather, against her will, in the countryside. As in a typical film the trip turns out to be something far from which she expected. It was released in 2004 and played at a film festival and the director is Daniel Wirtberg. It is a Czech film.

i think this video is about moving on. the little girl alone in the field represents a broken child- a young girl who has endured lonely, horrible trials. she find comfort in the old mans house but still seems troubled- representing that even in comparability, her memories and past experiences (the scarecrows) still follow her and give her nightmares. so, she leaves her circle of safety (the old man's house) to try to finally get away from her demons (the boat ride). but alas, she turns to find that her demons still follow close behind. so at the end when she sits down and hugs the scarecrows, this represents her finally making peace with her past and painful memories. :)

Screwed up childhood where me and my father(a navy man)fought all the time. From the age of 9 until I was 17, my only real relationship with the man was extreme arguing. A ten year power struggle that formed more than my share of demons that I travel with to this day. I'm 41 years old and this video hits me like a bullet everytime I watch it.
Just let the shit from your childhood go. Think of all those years you wasted because you couldn't and wouldn't just let go of that shit. Your parents are just fucking humans, you know? I feel pity for you and feel sad for all those wasted years. Yeah, you finally made it through but at what cost.

The beauty of the internet is we can have these fleeting moments over weeks and months and years... sorry not all perspective is tied up with a bow just like how Sean Godbehere wants it. Yikes man, might want to pull down those defenses; I can see the shit is still strong with you.
Sean Godbehere I often find myself listening to songs like these when in an internal power struggle. Sure it's hypocritical "listen to sad music when you're depressed" but it allows me to really think my thoughts through and see what is and what could've been, accepting where I am now and how to push through it, how to make myself stronger as an individual. Thank you for your story, however brief it was, I can relate. The true test in life is how we deal with the negative, how we don't let it take control of us for we are better men than that. I'm currently 16 and had my fair share of family as well as personal troubles. But really all we can do is look forward and not let the worse of ourselves get the better of us.
Anyone else thinking how they got the child to look almost identical to the adult version? is it movie magic? you never see that. Incredibly well done video. Haunting and beautiful.
They look almost identical because it's the same person. Giulia Taverna is the actress and this video contais excerpts from this film she participated in as a child: vimeo.com/87559320

this song and video is simply the natural progression of life. you will age and you will die. it’s always following you. you will run at first but once you accept it you’re free.

Watch the movie the Fog, the original from the early 80s and you will notice board sounds very similar to the sounds that are the same as the soundtrack in the movie. John Carpenter directed the fog and also did the music for it.

Absolute bliss . This song made it so beautiful . I didn't care about anything except that moment...
You're telling me! I was a fan of the short many years ago and decided to see what else the director did recently and then find this. Truly mind blown. Now I have another music artist to look into.
I think if you look at this more abstractly (as music videos are usually meant to be interpreted), you'll see it's about trying to escape the inevitability of adulthood. When the girl is young and has the comfort of home close to her, she emulates the adults: she poses like the scarecrow, and she also paints the model ships like her father. But when she's older and alone, seemingly far from home, she tries to resist the pull of time. When she "embraces" the scarecrow at the end, it's an act of surrender; her own exhaustion has defeated her.
Blessed be the "touched" few who actual understand this song & video, makes me weep and joyful to know I'm not alone in the world. Thank you Little Dragon, I love all your music!

Ever replay a song to live in the best of the music? Knowing how ridiculous it is hearing it over and over but the music is too good to not keep playing it.
I love the song. The video seems like it's about a girl who dreams of exploring and being on her own, so she runs away, grows up and realizes she made a mistake, she wants to go home but feels it would be awkward, and it's on her mind 24/7 and everywhere she looks, it reminds her of home. Its got a very mysterious and yet sad story. Beautiful directing btw. :)
Pain. The more we repress our demons, the more they come back to haunt us. Learn to tame evil, so they becomes our ally. Beautiful video. Great work for the directing.
Scarecrows are a part of our lives. We put them up to deter certain people from feeding off us. It's healthy to understand you don't have to like everyone and need to put boundaries against some people.
If they used old footage the most amazing thing is that they managed to find a bit of dialogue that had similar lip motions and were able to sync the "I lost my grip" line perfectly.
Matthew Stevens I heard this in gta 5 recognized little dragon from plastic beach and knew I’d like what I heard. Only now am I revisiting, still a wonderful song.
One of my favorites new brand bands! I´m falling in love with Sweden, a lot of good artist are coming from there! Greetings from México, can´t wait to see you at Corona Capital Festival!!
i guess the child was going through things, and trying to understand her surroundings. she started seeing manifestations of her thoughts/fears, the scarecrow wasn't a real being but to her it was, she "lost her grip" on reality. we see her age so rapidly perhaps because she started running and has been running from her fears for so long, that now shes here a grown young adult, and yet shes still running and every time she looks back she STILL sees her fears RIGHT behind her. everywhere she looks, she cant escape them. she even sets sail to go far away from anyone else and anything, and yet secludes herself on a boat with the things shes been running from for so long: herself. you cannot escape your mind, only understand it and come to terms with it.
She didn't seclude herself on a boat.. She threw herself off... Didn't you realise she kills herself at the end and the scarecrows, took her with them...
JaybayJay I hadn't thought of it that way. she did seclude herself though, she hid away from the world far on the ocean. perhaps she ran for so long and knew not how to fix it, so she went to sea to end it.
what i got from the video was a girl fighting her inner demons (the scarecrows).. it could be the detachment from her father, or a death (notice we don't see a mom throughout the video), or both, but in her childhood we see them surfacing/made apparent. as she gets older she tries to run from her demons at the farm, only to carry them with her, and in the end embraces her demons and mistakes realizing she can't change the past. i could be COMPLETELY wrong here, but thats my view!
Those are all great ways too see it, but this video also shows how deppresion works. Even when you run from it, forget, its always their no matter how hard you try and in the end, she gives up
It's the same girl. She is an Italian actress. They used footage of a movie she was in as a kid and used her again when she was older to film this video. It was the same director. Her name is Guilaia Taverna. The short film is called "Julia". The Director is Daniel Wirtberg

For all of those who are wondering this video was made using clips from a 13 minute short called Julia. The actress you see in this video is named Giulia Taverna. i think this video is about moving on.
the little girl alone in the field represents a broken child- a young girl who has endured lonely, horrible trials. she find comfort in the old mans house but still seems troubled- representing that even in comparability, her memories and past experiences (the scarecrows) still follow her and give her nightmares. so, she leaves her circle of safety (the old man's house) to try to finally get away from her demons (the boat ride). but alas, she turns to find that her demons still follow close behind. so at the end when she sits down and hugs the scarecrows, this represents her finally making peace with her past and painful memories.

Every word, every second of this track is unbelievable and extraordinary. It's amazing how one song can become your life's soundtrack. Little dragon
Shout out to my homegirl Starla from NC, i met her thru Battle Run and she put me on to Little Dragon.. I don't know if you're reading this but i hope you're staying safe during this damn Rona virus and i hope you're doing good in life.. One love, Demon Don
I'm so glad it only took me a day and a night to finally figure out the song!!!!! THIS song that has been in my head this whole time 😅😅😅😅😅 all I had to go off of was the "oh me oh my oh me oh my" haaaaaaa if thats even what shes saying lmmfao 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I found it!!!!!!!!
They way this was cropped into a extremely depressing horror video is very impressive. Music makes it even more eerie. ♡
How does this song don't have a billion likes
"Ritual Union" was my first intro to this superb band. I've been an ardent fan ever since!
Top 3 songs from them.
AMAZING! Beter than any movie I've seen lateley!!
This is such an awesome Running song. Especially at 0:18
I don't know what it is about this song but I've heard it over a hundred times and love it just as much as the first time... Such an enigmatic melancholy... Thank you Crystal Dragon!
LYRICS:
Lost my grip and my vision gone dull
So swing my hip like a dancer gone numb
I saw your shadow, saw the skeleton run
There's something missing from my memory of you
You shake my world from the ground to my head
A distant noise that'll wake me out of bed
I listen as the walls cave in
I'm hanging on 'cause your memory's thin
Ooh, I lost my grip, I balance it on a piece of paper
True, you wanna trip, it's waving in and I'll wait for later
Ooh, it's leaning on, leaning in on my yesterday
Ooh, it's sneaking in, it's sneaking in on me, on me
I've got a house and an eternal frown
Painted walls and letters upside down
I try to hold on, I try to hold on but you're gone
Then I try to let go but your memory's still on
Ooh, I lost my grip, I balance it on a piece of paper
True, you wanna trip, it's waving in and I'll wait for later
Ooh, it's leaning on, leaning in on my yesterday
Ooh, it's sneaking in, it's sneaking in on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
On me, on me, on me, on me, on me, on me
That synth though
This is what made me love Little Dragon years ago
As the walls cave in, little dragon 🐉 reminds me to fly again
This song and video combined is actually so deep if you look in to it, basically explains my depression and issues.
I think the scarecrows are the drugs and she cant hide for them
+Iro Nie I think she's PTS, depressed, or schizophrenic
IoN Monster the girl in this video is actually the little girl st the beginning as well.
Little dragon...telafon tel aviv..
If i only had these 2 to ever listen to...i would be great
Pain. The more we repress our demons, the more they come back to haunt us. Learn to tame evil, so they becomes our ally. Beautiful video. Great work for the directing.
This music has gotten me to overcome the hardest times of my life. Little dragon is a warrior woman vibe ❤
1:54 is so dope to me
Magnificent sound.
Scarecrows are a part of our lives. We put them up to deter certain people from feeding off us. It's healthy to understand you don't have to like everyone and need to put boundaries against some people.
at their most recent show in Dallas opening for Leon Bridges they dedicated this song to a woman in the crowd but I never heard her name sadly
Thank God I started listening to other stations besides NonStopPop. Mirror Park has this vibe I cannot explain.
Will Always be my Favorite little dragon song ❤
Obsessed wit this song and wanderer😍
I miss the voice that would wake me out of bed...
uhuju1 would be a good line, it's a distant noise that would
jajaja
I started listening to them 3 years ago and I never stopped. They're like a hidden gym that the world as a whole should know about.
Damn! Esto sí es música, no se como no los habia escuchado antes. Saludos desde Puebla, MX. 🇲🇽
My go-to song when walking through the city at night.
This MV is brilliant!
This is what you call music. And not just music but great cinematogrphy too
Incredible piece of art
Agree nothing spoke to me in a moment of total confusion and trauma as this song
If they used old footage the most amazing thing is that they managed to find a bit of dialogue that had similar lip motions and were able to sync the "I lost my grip" line perfectly.
Fuckin beautiful
Nice to see you here :]
omg
Ghost in the shell !!!
i only found out about little dragon because of gorillaz and i have to say i am enjoying my stay.
Same. =]
erhmagewd
Same here!
Matthew Stevens I heard this in gta 5 recognized little dragon from plastic beach and knew I’d like what I heard. Only now am I revisiting, still a wonderful song.
Yeah.. you need to keep finding out about her and her music... all of it is gold.
I want them to come to the states again sooooooooooooooooooo bad
2019.... just discovered the song... The one trip.
where do i find friends that listen to music like this …
not easy to find...
One of my favorites new brand bands! I´m falling in love with Sweden, a lot of good artist are coming from there! Greetings from México, can´t wait to see you at Corona Capital Festival!!
I love the old sounds,
Reminds me of the lemon tree.
Love this song so much ❤️🙌🏻💎
Неймовірно..
Дякую вам!
i guess the child was going through things, and trying to understand her surroundings. she started seeing manifestations of her thoughts/fears, the scarecrow wasn't a real being but to her it was, she "lost her grip" on reality. we see her age so rapidly perhaps because she started running and has been running from her fears for so long, that now shes here a grown young adult, and yet shes still running and every time she looks back she STILL sees her fears RIGHT behind her. everywhere she looks, she cant escape them. she even sets sail to go far away from anyone else and anything, and yet secludes herself on a boat with the things shes been running from for so long: herself.
you cannot escape your mind, only understand it and come to terms with it.
Spot on man, beautifully said :D
She didn't seclude herself on a boat.. She threw herself off... Didn't you realise she kills herself at the end and the scarecrows, took her with them...
JaybayJay I hadn't thought of it that way. she did seclude herself though, she hid away from the world far on the ocean. perhaps she ran for so long and knew not how to fix it, so she went to sea to end it.
scandinavia!!! the memories!! i love you!!
Yeah so, GTA introduced me to this wonderful piece of art.
I have no idea what GTA is, explain?
+Nicole Cedervall It's a video game called 'Grand Theft Auto' that's targeted for closet homosexuals.
+Lazzkur Bear hahaha
LMFAO
Lazzkur Bear now hearing this song. also thanks to GTA
Jetzt startet der ganze Spaß das macht mehr Spaß wenn man auf einer dünnen Linie tanzt !
what i got from the video was a girl fighting her inner demons (the scarecrows).. it could be the detachment from her father, or a death (notice we don't see a mom throughout the video), or both, but in her childhood we see them surfacing/made apparent. as she gets older she tries to run from her demons at the farm, only to carry them with her, and in the end embraces her demons and mistakes realizing she can't change the past. i could be COMPLETELY wrong here, but thats my view!
Now you guys made me really look at the video...
and I love your view
Excellent insight!
Thats how i interpreted it
Those are all great ways too see it, but this video also shows how deppresion works. Even when you run from it, forget, its always their no matter how hard you try and in the end, she gives up
This song sets my soul free
My life feels like a crystalfilm
Great tune , love beat , love voice! Big!
I really miss early 10's, hope 00's hysteria will pass soon, I need this era so much
Wow! What a great song!! :O
My favorite song by them.
Am i the only one freked out by the little girl's resemblance to the old one...?
Same girl
kpasstenceBETA really? It's cool but creepy at the same time...
It's the same girl. She is an Italian actress. They used footage of a movie she was in as a kid and used her again when she was older to film this video. It was the same director. Her name is Guilaia Taverna. The short film is called "Julia". The Director is Daniel Wirtberg
***** The guy knew that . . .
kpasstenceBETA that is so damn rare and awesome.
the most beautiful spodní víčka in the world!
wait a minute! that song remained me to some GTAV song! I know she is deffinitely in GTA radio.. I loved that singer already!
George Shonia yeah it’s on radio mirror park. And they have another song called wanderer on the lab
