This seriously needs more views. I would guess that less than a sixteenth of the people who have ever seen an Excellent Adventures episode have ever sat through this documentary.
Fantastic documentary, this gives players like me hope. It shows anything is possible if you put the work in and believe in yourself. I didn't know about the passing of his mother to cancer, i've lost a close family member to cancer a few years ago and it really does make you look at life in a different way no matter how young you may be. If you enjoy something that much, NEVER let it go no matter what people say. Life is short, make the most of it and most importantly ENJOY IT.
You are without a doubt an inspiration Mike Ross. I too am a Blanka player and want to be more than I am. One day I will be. You are the reason I will be better one day and you have my respect. I too have lost my parents, but surely this is proof of triumph over adversity. I am now an adult and Street Fighter is still my number one pastime and one day I will win tournaments My friends and I love you man. Never give up. This was so well made. Thank You. I believe in Mike Ross too.
Having lost someone to cancer, I felt that story. I went back home in Latin America and her last advice to me was to be happy. I'm happy playing videogames and studying my ass off, so one day I be that little grain that makes a difference. Thanks Mike Ross, I might fly to EVO just to meet you and and the rest of CC. col
Damn, I know the exact nervous feeling Mike talks about. That nervous feeling cost me a lot of matches. It definitely helped me grow though. Great video Mike, really inspirational!
I agree. I mean, it's necessary sometimes to just stop and meditate about life and if the things you're doing matter. But if it feels right, enjoy it, don't let the good people by your side go away without showing them love. Spread love, do what makes you happy!
Great doco, I really can see how Mike's life experience molded his personality and work ethic to become not just a great player but great guy. I BELIEVE! :)
Awesome job you guys. Great video and very inspirational. Hope the scene continues to grow and one day become a phenomenon as big as any other competitive sport. Awesome
Awesome documentary big ups to Mike Ross on his EVO Win, I plan to be at EVO next year for Super Street Fighter 4 and UMVC3, I hope to play the best Jah Bless
I was on the edge of my seat through the entire documentary. I felt like I was under more pressure than Mike Ross appeared to be. He seems to be quite the cool cat, even under such conditions. I love the way he set a goal for himself, one that he felt was realistic, and then totally controlled his own fate. That's a smart, cool, well rounded young man! I thought I'd like to be one of the few chicks in that room, then maybe not. To be ignored by so much testosterone would be quite the ego blow!
This documentary inspried me to start playing fighting games and hopefully go to evo one day. Cant wait to start going to tournements.Screw a 9 to 5 job,i rather have a real job with something i love to do and that thing is: Videogames.
Mike Ross doesn't care about losing, he just wants to start the next round. Watch his fingers, they don't stop, he loves playing games, and doesn't get salty about it.
I think I've become a fan of Mike Ross! He has such a great personality and he isn't the stereotypic "cold asian player". He is the kind of guy you want to relate to.
He didn't get fired, IPL went out of business so he's recently been tweeting to people wondering what happened - They're currently getting bought out so hopefully he can continue work there, if not then he'll probably move back to complexity, it does suck though because he moved to San Fran for it
games, as i have already said, are my pastime. my intensity for my interests is completely justified. i have met many great and interesting people because of it including my closest friends. video games are an art form as much as film or illustration, literature or dance. i appreciate the effort people put into something they care about, and im passionate about the things i enjoy. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and no offense what i do in my spare time is immaterial to you. consider this.
This reminds me of pumping iron but a gaming look as body builders would get a 1000 at big comps back in arnies days now they get 100,000s a comp 30 years later hopefully this will happen in fighting games
Wow...This is surprisingly riveting stuff. Great playing from Mike that year , he lost to the greatest SF player ever and 2 time evo champ Daigo, and now current reigning evo champ Infiltration..no shame in that. But unfortunately I think that's probably gonna be the peak and highlight of his fighting game career. Unless Honda gets some buffs. Or he change characters, which probably won't happen. Is that cute Asian girl that was always with him his gf or ex gf now?
You should check out recent interviews of Daigo Umehara... the guy's great as well. Haha I'm assuming you were referring to Daigo as the "cold asian player", but really, he's not.
This doc surprised me. I thought I still wouldn't like this guy after watching it. But it turns out Mike Ross is a cool guy and knows what life's about. Hahaha! BTW, I can tell just by watching Mike's girl, she's got a mouth on her. She's only holding back for the cameras! :0
here we are 14 years later... Mike Ross has gone longer than just one more year.
people seem to forget how much of a goat mike is
This is probably the best documentary I've watched in a long time. Watching Mike celebrate big wins just gets me excited for him.
This seriously needs more views. I would guess that less than a sixteenth of the people who have ever seen an Excellent Adventures episode have ever sat through this documentary.

That was my take on it as well...I like!

Wow...This is surprisingly riveting stuff.
