This one had me pissed! I’ll never deny my kid the comfort of a good check for monsters after that. The dad frustrated me tremendously.😢
I tried to have an undercurrent of irony where the dad was ignoring the cries for help from his daughter ... whilst judging the scientists for ignoring the cries for help of Jason.
Amen if a child doesn't feel like there Dad can kill all monsters and bad guys then you've failed that child amd have hampered there emotional development more than you'll ever know. My dad was a alcoholic and I never trusted him or thought he would protect me, in fact I was usually protecting me and my brothers and mom from him since early childhood! That stuff messes a kid up !!
Agreed it second me too and made me mad I also had to stop listening I couldn't something inside of me was getting sick
As a father...this guy not checking on his daughter with urgency the first time his daughter reached out was the most terrifying thing of all...was quite upsetting. Good share
I get a fresh wave of dread everytime the protagonist refuses to check on his daughter. I have 30 minutes left on the video and a bad feeling about this. This one is drenched in dark situational irony.
man when he yelled at her to just go to bed and then talked about a serial rapist/murder in his area (before he said the guy was caught, then let free) i was screaming at him that he’s an idiot and that when he does go check on her she’s gonna be dead
@@IW3527 you guys are anothercouple I have to respect for appreciating what I was aiming for.
A lot think the ending was too predictable. It was meant to be predictable. You are MEANT to know what’s going on upstairs and the dread should build the more you learn about the killers MO through the investigation. Your imagination is meant to fill in those horrifying gaps.
The irony of him ignoring his daughter while judging the scientists for ignoring Jason’s detrition is also purposeful.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
@@lukehemingway4224 something being meant to be predictable isn't exactly what most of us expect.
We often search for something we can't see coming.
@@Gfish17 some didn’t see it coming. And if you didn’t then it’s an added bonus. But if you did, then the story is having this underlying build up of dread as you learn about the nature of just who is up in the kids bedroom.
This was a time not to recycle. A reporter deciding not to follow-up with kid was NOT going to end well. Story was intense and well written. Kudos to the writer. Thank you for narrating, Doctor Creepen!
That one gave me chills! Predicted the ending about halfway through with one horrific moment 😂
Glad you enjoyed it ! And the ending is predictable on purpose. You have the idea that someone is likely actually upstairs with the daughter... but as you learn more and more about just WHO is up stairs and WHAT they are likely doing... your imagination will do the rest.
Thanks for giving it a go :) I appreciate your comment :)
To the man that runs his channel! Your voice in your charisma set you apart from the rest. There’s a lot of fellas on RUclips That read stories. But none of them have what you have. Thank you for your hard work. It takes a lot of work to read the stories and get them out right. Take care of your troublemaker.
Agreed, he does a fantastic job on the narrations, as well as picking out great stories like this gem from Luke Hemingway.
The Doc has me hooked from the first story i every listened to about a serial killer. He's amazing. Talent at its finest. This whole community is great!!
i cant decide if he is or is not better than mrcreepypasta.
Many thanks for your kind words.
@@lowerweb8466 i Think Doc is The best. followed by Natures temper. 😊
Man, that guy was a savage. He wasn’t stopping until he got everyone. Great story. I am a long haul driver and these stories help me get through a lot of miles. I appreciate them.
Real life copied and based on the abduction of James Bulger in the UK. Even the details and names 1993.
Had a shitty day at work, so it is great to have this to relax and fall asleep to. Thanks for your dedication and top notch voice acting.
Hope the Good Dr helped make your evening better. Nothing like setting down an taking it easy listening to the Dr and his smooth voice
I remember, when we were just kids. My family and all the families in that area. Didn't lock their doors. Now, as a single mom. I did what I could to protect my children. From self defense all the way to having a license to carry. Buying a dog... Making sure there is a weapon in every room of my house. To even buying a Ring camera just to keep watch.
That story, made me check on my 19 year old daughter. That can handle herself pretty well. Five Times!!! After the 4th time. She woke up.
It is 3am. I got off work late. Came home. Decided to chill, have some hot tea and listen to this story. Well,, damn....
Ok... I will be adding something stronger to my tea.
Plus, apologizing to my daughter, again.
For freaking her out at 3 am.
Sooo..... Job well done on the story. Keep up the wonderful work.
Again,,, Damn!!!!!
Anybody else screaming "go check on your daughter!" while listening to this?
Oh yeah! The entire time!
I was while reading it!
As a father I have to admit that this was a hard one to listen to. Had my child come to me with that I would drop whatever in the hell I was doing and go check.
Oh, MAN...I saw where this was going and was truly horrified by this story, by about the hour mark or so. Brilliant narration, and I was most horrified by how callous the man was to his daughter just so he could pursue the scoop that would get him back on top of the dog pile. The fact that he was convinced that it was for the better for them both was what really had me saying "Ohh, no no no NO. Go check on her, you idiot!!!" I think we all can relate to that whether we have children or not. Well done, sir!
Obviously the MC isn’t just some normal parent. Think of him like a gambling addict. His kid trying to get him to check her room was like a concerned friend pulling their mate away from the blackjack table.
They are way down for the night but convinced they can win it back. In his head, his daughter could wait. She was prone to nightmares and this sort of thing. In his head, he’s like ‘it’ll be nothing’
It’s deliberate that he’s so oblivious cos if he did go up... he’d have been killed too and there would have been no story
@@lukehemingway4224 Excellent comment, there! I get what you mean.
@@MaskedRiderChris No worries 😌 it’s totally normal for any reader to almost assume the MCs have the same instincts and values they have. Especially written from a 1st person POV.
But either way, I’m glad you took the time to listen to my work and hopefully you enjoyed it 😇
You are by far my favorite person when it comes to story telling. I have quite a list of the people I listen to but you're the one I get excited about with "dead man talking" right behind you. I appreciate that you take the time to do this. You don't know how many people you help 💯
Well, Guys... I know this is a fucking brutal one. For anyone who’s watched/read Stephen Kings The Outsider when discussing the murder of Frankie. I think the graphic severity of what happened to the boy just stuck with me. Just aiding to the dread when ‘the doppelgänger’ is luring the other kid to the cave cos I know what he’s going to do with him.
So yeah that’s why I hammered home all the graphic details so when the MC makes the discovery in the bedroom at the end, your imagination fills in the blanks from the earlier parts of the story.
However, I’m no Stephen king so maybe I didn’t get hit that target. But I’m glad that most of you enjoyed.
Yes the ending is a tad predictable. But I was going for irony; the MC being a hypocrite as he judged the scientist treatment of the subject.
Also I’ve let myself down a bit here. Small details that probably went over most peoples head but a few of the dates are all over the place. This story was written about 2 years ago for another channel but they wanted to make changes so I obliged. But as changes were made some other details weren’t and it’s harmed the continuity. I DID proof it and change them... but I’ve saved the new copy to OneDrive and emailed a hard copy to the doc. Which was before the amendments. Can only apologise for that.
Anyway, glad you took the time to listen!
Got another crime investigation story series in the works for this channel. Watch this space !

Luke Hemingway
Author
This was very interesting. Do you plan on making part two?
@@chrislindamood9378 glad you enjoyed ! No can’t say I have any idea where it would go and I wrote this two years ago and nothings come to mind.
But I do like to write violent crime. Wether that be organised crime stories or psychological crime stories such as this or serial killer stories. So if you haven’t listened to my Special Agent James Rodriguez playlist, go try them ... there’s a playlist with all the stories that happen in the same universe on my YT channel!
I’d say The White Van Man and Mr Zander are similair to this. The rest are the Robert Cassidy serial killer stories and spin offs. All are in chronological order bar one. Genesis takes place first but best listen to AFTER the ex husband prison story
Happy listening
As a dad, I lost my mind yelling at my phone when he refused to check on his daughter once he heard the furniture moving
Wow...just finished listening & this one is surely going to give me nightmares tonight! Brutal! As always, thank you, Dr. Creepen! ♡
Thanks for listening :)
Job well done Mr. Hemingway and Dr. Creepin! I loved the foreshadowing in the beginning. I can't say I didn't see the ending coming but I still very much enjoyed this story.Thank you.
Yeah. I saw it coming, but I liked the irony of how the main character wasn't any different than those that he judged throughout the story. No matter what you do, at the end of the day, your work is not what is important in life. You should never let it take priority.
Awesome, thank you!
@@comenowletusreason6330 I’m actually buzzing that SOMEONE picked up on the irony !
He was constantly pissed off that the docs were ignoring Jason’s cries for help, all the while ignoring his daughters 😅 thank you for picking up on that.
@@comenowletusreason6330
Yes, that is part of the foreshadowing imo. Trust me, it took a lot of self control not to scream "Go check on your daughter!" lol

You out did yourself on this one. The scariest monsters by far are human!
I just wanna say this story hits even harder for me since I literally grew up in Cherokee County Georgia. I never thought I'd listen to such a great story that takes place so close
Harder for me as its based on the real abduction of a child in Britain James Bulger and he's copied every detail of the death even names.
A Luke Hemingway production?👍 Outstanding!
Gahhhhhh! Tearing my hair out with frustration knowing where this was headed but needing the deets!! Excellent narration! Thank you. 😘
The protagonist had me facepalming throughout the entire story.
*Spoilers*
"huh, lot of rapes and murders going on in my neighborhood...eh, it's probably nothing."
"huh, my daughter says there's someone in her room...eh, it's probably nothing."
"huh, my daughter's bed is banging against the wall like people are fucking...eh, it's probably nothing."
"huh, that rapist is still on the loose...eh, it's probably nothing."

@@lukehemingway4224 Excellent story!!
Now this is just going to be fucked up...
let’s gooooo
To Luke you really do take your storys to the limits and what you haven't said that this is based on true events here in England I noticed you made theses evil boys and victims older in your storys still brings tears to my eyes of the horror that another child could actually do to another child. Sometimes I wish we still had the death penalty in this country for evil like that . Keeping there story alive keeps the Barstools behind bars at least that's something well done x
Which makes a mockery of James death used like this and every detail.
@@LightingSparks82 it will be if them barstools are ever released from prison . People forget to easy and then they are forgotten sometimes I believe we need a memory jog .I cannot even imagine how the family/families continue on I think that they are brave to let the public know the details of the horrific things that were done to them it's only family who give permission to release them . I think Jamies mother is an inspiration to every one especially when she did that documentary oh how I cried . She's definitely a brave woman and a serviver It lets other parents know how much evil is out there and how quickly in a crowded place terrible things happen and it's not just adults who commits these horrific crimes. Them barstools got released under a new identity just to go ahead and reoffend they should rot in jail it's not like they didn't come from a deprived family they had loving mother's they to were victims of there children's crimes them boys well men now are pure evil incarnate. Maybe I'm wrong but that's my opinion
@@lisamariehennessey4532 most definitely agree people do need a shake up awful thing to be reminded of. But somethings should never be forgotten.
@@LightingSparks82 see if you can find that documentary James mother did WOW she is an inspiration and amazing woman . Just make sure you have a family size box of tissues.
You did again Dr. Exceptional as usual. Thank you and have a good weekend.
This audio book reminds me of the agony closet that I have prepared for anyone who breaks into my home.
Based on the real murder of James Bulger sadly UK child.
I think I'll skip the tea and go straight to the cabinet for another whiskey after that one, if you don't mind, Doc.
What else is there say?
creeeeeepy!!!!
Another great piece from Luke. Dude, seriously never stop writing, this story has inspired me to never undermine my son's fears, and always hear out.
It's based on the real life murder and abduction of James Bulger and every detail and name of the murderers. Everything he said they did to the child.
Another great story Dr. Creepen. Hopefully your not working yourself ragged. Can't wait for the next one
How many of us knew the kid was being, ummm, " bad stuff" after the second time the noises were mentioned? Very cool story and great narration as always!
A wonderful story and narration, Doc!
I knew I was in for a treat when I heard it was written by Luke Hemmingway, but he always out does himself somehow. Thanks to both of you for bringing this story to life, you guys are truly amazing. ❤
Hope you are all doing well!

Based on the murder of James Bulger names and even details of the murder.
“Instead of two teenagers and a child showing up, it was 10 white supremacist thugs armed with baseball bats and 9mm handguns.” The only time that I think I have ever been happy to hear/ read about white supremacists. This story was very captivating, cheers to the author and the amazing narrator. The man didn’t stop until he hunted them all down and took care of his past.
It's not often that I manage to stay awake for an entire story. This was so well written that I stayed awake, hidden under the covers trembling. Doc, you were so amazing with your voice acting. Thanks for sharing Tennessee USA 💓❣️
Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow! That was heavy 🫣 Scary stuff and as always your narration makes it amazing ❤️✌️
When i saw this upload i was glad to have your content to listen to.... introduction ends with “by Luke Hemingway”, i settle in to get extra comfy with a huge smile, the ending leaves me anticipating the next chapters & hoping they come soon ... discovering this has been added under the Robert Cassidy playlist elicits an excited “oh hot damn!!!! This just got even better!!!” and the anticipation grows exponentially 😁😅 ..... and the wait begins
Hahahaha I can assure you it is not linked to Robert Cassidy. But what I will say is RC isn’t dead and he will be making a return at some point this year
@@lukehemingway4224 welllllll sigh ... geez ... just burst my bubble 😝 lol (takes a minute to regroup and pout) thank you for the teaser though!! Ive been hoping to see more RC, i promise i will be eagerly waiting!!
@@FightingMECFS I started writing it late last year. So few chapters are done. It’s going to be the final story. James (after the events of Appletree and Manhunt) is no longer a fed. But he is brought in to try and get a confession out of an extremely violent convict. This convict turns him down, saying the only thing he wants is Robert Cassidy. The boy who ‘turned him into the monster that he is today’
Obviously RC is on the run, but then this convict escapes, he executes a plan to get RC out of hiding and force him into a showdown.
James does his best to prevent any loss of life... before he loses his own.

@@lukehemingway4224 the anticipation is killing me!
Excellent work on this short story! I knew I was in for a treat when your name was in the introduction but this one really pulled me in. From righteous indignation to goosebumps and wanting to slap the protagonist this story didn't pull any punches!
To anyone considering screaming at the father through your phone, don't bother cos if he didn't hear me he won't hear you either
Want sure what to expect with that title, but as always... brrr you sure don't disappoint! Ye gawd!
My absolute favorite narrator.
And the writer of this story was just wow. I predicted what was gonna happen to his little girl early on but it didn't take away from the story.
Great job. But I want to add, the father in the story had me pissed off.
I wanted to scream at him to " GO CHECK ON YOUR DAUGHTER"
(cough) sorry. Lost myself there for a minute 😅. Great job
Oh, this is going to be amazing! I can just feel it. 😉
Rare do I get a story that makes me feel this one made me feel rage absolutely wonderful thanks doc.
"James Patrick Bulger (16 March 1990 - 12 February 1993) was a two-year-old boy from Kirkby, Merseyside, England, who was abducted, tortured, and murdered by two 10-year-old boys, Robert Thompson (born 23 August 1982) and Jon Venables (born 13 August 1982), on 12 February 1993."
Thanks for this long story! Yeah it’s a bit twisted but just a story, right? And very entertaining, narrated by the best. I really enjoyed it! Your stories almost always interest me, unlike some who have evolved to a lot of Lovecraft-style stories. I know there’s a Lovecraft following but they just aren’t my kinda stories, ya know? I love it when you give your caution then say if that’s what you like, then let’s begin!! It’s good to know that when I get your notification it will be a story I’ll be interested to hear.
Part of it is a story, part of it is true crime. The story of Timmy Wells really happened. The killers were much younger than high school age though and the one killer's name is Jon Venables. I don't remember the other one's name off hand
Robert Thompson and Jon Venables. The murder of Jamie Bulger. Good spot ! I always use true crimes to inspire my stories
I couldn't finish this. I can listen to all kimds of creepy stuff, but these are the ones that get me.
Thanks Dr. CREEPEN
You really brought this story to life!
The murder that introduces the murderer is a slight alteration of a real one that happened in the UK in the early 90s. "Murder of James Bulger" on Wikipedia if you dare.
And I mean IF YOU DARE. I'm not one to do "trigger warnings" but this messed me up for a couple days when I first heard of it in early 2009. The most unbelievable part of this story is it's version of that case is somewhat toned down.
That’s a strong title.
Is it as good as I hope it is?
Lol. Well said!! :)
The title takes away from it
Luke and the Doc go together like peas and carrots.
I really like the way you say "murder". Maybe a weird thing to pick up on but, yea... Muuurdaah. Dignified, thematic, and spooky all at once
My main man the Good Dr ⚕️, on time to keep me and my constant companion insomnia entertained for a wee while. I had a "time out" from commenting which was obviously unfounded, I still have no clue what comment? 🤷♀️ Thanks for keeping my mind occupied, I enjoyed this one. Blessings from Scotland. 🙏🏴✌️
You Doc are the best at these type of “gradually creepy” story narrations. I could feel the ice creeping up my spine……
♥️♥️♥️♥️😎🇦🇺✌️
Ngl, the thing with the kid is one of those “oh god what are you doing?” things that happens in horror content. I haven’t even gotten to the end, it just seems like his kid is going to have been murdered/kidnapped.
I was on the edge of my seat with that story! In the middle.of the story I felt something went wrong with the little girl upstairs.there is nothing that important to where you don't stop your work and check on your little girl.Your an amazing storyteller one of the best you've done keep up the good work
No you are quite right but remember don’t think as this dad as yourself and how you would parent. He’s like a gambling addict. His daughter pulling him away from the story is like trying to pull a friend away from the craps table when they are down big down but think their on a hot streak. The girl has a tendency to get scared over nothing. In his head, she could wait an hour or two.
And if he had have gone up with her, he’d have been killed too. And no story 😅
Second comment…damn, from a neuroscience standpoint, this story is absolutely fascinating! Well done, I certainly got my dose of medicine this evening Doctor
Not me, a young fella sitting here listening to this at my accounting job, with a family history of dementia, hearing about a young accountant getting dementia
I couldn't handle that shit . Let's hope Luke writes some more stuff like the Cassidy stories

Well, a lot of it was kind of true. The Timmy wells murder was hugely influenced by the Jamie Bulger murder 1992.
The home invasion murders were based on the Otero family murders by BTK
And the ending/plot was based on the famous baby sitter urban legend (which is also based on a true story)
@lukehemingway4224 im more concerned about the project. But if it's based on a top secret project, no one's gonna confirm that.
@@KenB3 hahaha no I can’t confirm that bit. The whole government experiment angle wasn’t actually my idea originally. I was assigned my another channel to write a story called Psymptom. About a man who lives with a younger sibling and receives an experimental brain TP from a psychopath child abuser and the story is him fighting the urges as the he inherits the desires of the donor.
The channel shut down due to personal reasons and the story was just sitting there so I sent it to the doc and here we are.
If there's ever a tv series/anthology of horror stories by this author, this should definitely be one of the episodes. Very, very dark indeed.
That was horrifying! Awesome, but horrifying.. wow.. Thank You Doctor 🖤

This was a real clinging to the edge of your seat story... amazing figured the reporter was the last one to get it
Spoiler Alert! I have a question.
How did the killer know to go to the reporters house? He had just gotten the file. Was he(the reporter)connected some other way? It was a great story, but I don't quite understand how the killer ended up there.
This reporter originally broke the story that it wasnt those teens that killed the first little boy & made the connection to Weaver based on the similar MO
@@FightingMECFS Thank you so much!! I missed that part!!
@@FightingMECFS Ahh, OK. Thank you.
I think the killer sent him the file.
This was intense horror. Well written and presented by you. Left me a bit frazzled and I'm a horror fan. Wow.
oh wow this one was so tragic .. i hope to hear a part 2 where the hunter becomes the hunted by a crazy dad .
The worst part about this is, "downloading something" is just copying it from one place to another.
If you download you brain into another body, it doesn't move you, it copies you. You would die then someone with your memories would take over your life. That copy wouldn't even realize it is not the original. It would thank the doctors for saving it's life, kiss you wife and then go on to live your life.
Did anybody else see the end coming a mile away, like as soon as the protagonist said the photo of the donor “gave them a sense of deja-vu”? I still enjoyed it and listened all the way through but it was like the “puzzle” was solved in the first 25 minutes. But other than that this writer did great telling the story, the imagery was perfect…plenty scary but without being disgustingly graphic. Maybe I’ve just gotten spoiled after listening to hundreds of these 😂.
When your kid tells you something or someone is in their closet..listen and go check it out! I remember a case were a man dressed as a clown was hiding in a child's closet.
Simply awesome!
Honestly b4 I got an hr in, I was seething with anger how he ignored his daughter and put a damn story before her and she was young. Nothing is more important than my kids. As a father this enraged greatly. I still have about 50 min left and it's hard to finish, guess that makes it good right lol
Not to me
@@chrism4008 I feel you. But think about it this way. The fact that it can illicit emotions from you is better than a story that makes you feel blah and you may ignore it. Even tho the emotion is disgust, its still good enough to make you feel that. You get me?
Hey Doc, thanx for narrating this story. It was absorbing yet at times, infuriating to listen to.

My parents live in the Marietta/Vinings area. Super cool to hear local places in stories!
Wow that was quite a story. A little predictable about the daughter, but still captivating from beginning to end.
This 1 was bad-ass.
Really liked it.
Not going to lie, this Legit had me shouting at my phone for you to check your child someone's upstairs from the moment she said there's a monster...
The Doc reads Luke Hemingway! 😱
This is the perfect listening experience 💗 😊 Much gratitude to both 🤗 I don't like, I love it 💞😻
Anyone who read Luke's Showtime Killer and Roadside Slayer from the Cassidyverse will notice elements from the two previous stories used for this one
Well I used a lot of real life events for the story, as I do for all my criminal horror stories.
The plot in of itself was loosely based on the babysitter urban legend (which is based on a true story itself) the Timmy Wells case was based on the murder of Jamie Bulger in Liverpool.
But yes the killer was loosely based on the same as the showtime killer. BTK. His first murder he broke into the home of a family and killed them all while some of them watched.
But as BTK is kind of a serial killer that’s always fascinated me the most, his influence will often be noticeable across my work of this genre
Luke & Doc 🎉 Its gonna be lit 🔥 ❤
@Luke Hemingway….OMG!! What a story! I’ll be looking out for the next one of these! 👀 Thank you!
Hey Doc! Great narration, as always! I had started hollering, “You better go check her room”….and ended up loud enough for my husband to come in off the porch to ask who he was supposed to check on😅, reminding me our kids are grown & living in their own homes. Pretty sure he thought I’d cracked 🤪up.
LoL! Anyway…thanks for a great edge-of-seat listen!!
Hope y’all have a good weekend!!✌️
Well there should be a series of mine coming out shortly ! Watch out for ‘The Disappearance of Holly Hepworth’
Also, have you heard any of my other work?
