If anyone have the plank not opening issue, you dont need to get a fresh install of zorin. The problem is, from default zprin choses wayland as its server or display thingy and plank doesnt support wayland. As proof when you try to run plank on terminal, it wont work. To fix this you have to switch to X11 instead of wayland. Do these commands Check if your zorin uses wayland or x11 echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE Then do cat /etc/gdm3/custom.conf As you can see theres a line "#WaylandEnable=false" After that you want to run sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf Then you want to delete the hashtag on "WaylandEnable=false" it would now be this "WaylandEnable=false" and not "#WaylandEnable=false" Then save by using Ctrl + S Then Exit by Ctrl + X Restart your computer and then run plank done!
How did you install plank? I'm trying to follow your guide but plank will not open. Via terminal i will get an error X11 is only supported. Using Zorin OS 17
Is this a new install. I only did it on new install with zorin os 17 core. Im not sure on upgrading from zorin 16 works or not. If u have upgraded then have u tried using Synaptic manager install from store to uninstall plank, restart n install from terminal
@@famouscyberamos Thanks for the reply! Managed to find the problem. New update forces Wayland… if you force X11 it will break opening apps animation. But you can use Dash to Dock with Dash to Dock animator as replacement.
Found that late. It works. But i'll stay with the dash since it seems to be already in the zorin appearance menu and has an app drawer button. It has no animations while hovering over apps like plank tho.
I tested in older pc which runs with minimal impact. But if yours behave weirdly then u could remove it. If u want theme with minimal install u can try windows 11 theme in my playlist

check your neofetch, if the WM part has the (Wayland) one, switch to wayland by logging out, going to the user account and find the settings icon, click on it, and it will show a dropdown with 2 buttons saying "Zorin Desktop" and "Zorin Desktop on Wayland", if it's on wayland, click on the Zorin Desktop button, and login again. Now your into X11, you can install plank
everything work perfect for me except that the icons text color is dark blue and I can´t find a way to change to white, the background is dark. I can barely read the apps names. I followed step by step. Doný know why the text color is different on my apps window. Any ideas?

This is why I use chrome because it works but Firefox doesn't. It might be due to settings or something. You need to test if you don't want chrome. Maybe edge can use because their based on chromium
Then go buy MacBook. This is a theme. It's meant to look n feel like Mac os. Any extra u need to find in gnome look or extensions. This is a different operating system. If I found extras I might do another video to add on

Do these commands

Plank is not working. So I just installed Zorin Dash extension which looks and works great because it's the same dock on the app menu.

bro this made my laptop slow should i remove it. like im able to feel the dofference in app opening time bw this and original zorin os

Did you try restarting the pc after you install plank. Sometimes it needs to restart
bro literally told us to install spyware on our pc (google chrome)
If you want to use other browser, you can. Linux is open to anything.

Try using ctrl c and ctrl v. Zorin n windows uses some similar keyboard shortcuts. Or just right click copy n paste

Did u upgrade zorin. Then try uninstall in synaptic manager. Restart n try install
