I love how Emmy doesn't make a fuss about things she just eats it and doesn't hesitate. Other youtubers I have seen have been like that's gross or don't eat it at all but you try it and give us feedback. Love you Emmy 3
As a Finn, I want to thank you for your fantastic impressions of whatever it is that you're tasting - you've nailed the texture, sweetness and taste of the candies, better than I could describe as a native. It makes me trust your reviews on candies and foods from around the world and thus I would like to thank you for bringing the tastes around the globe closer to us viewers! :)
I love these videos of yours where you taste stuff from all over the World. Many people make similar videos, but the difference between you and them is that they're sometimes visibly gagging and going "oh that's so gross, how can anyone eat, hahaha people in ____ are so weird"... But not you. You are very respectful to others, even if you don't necessarily like the stuff you're eating. I like that a lot!
Amd even if she knows she doesn't like something (like salmiakki) she still tries it every time in an attemp to like it, but still doesn't make any fuss if she doesn't. It's super neat.
Yes, so absolutely wonderful. I think Emmy is a fantastic role model for openminded, all-inclusive, acceptance. I think we need that so much these days, especially in the USA
I'm polish and I love liquorice, it's very refreshing. But salmiakki - that I cannot stand, i tried but lost this fight.. Sadly in my country it's realy hard to get any liquorice sweets :s I buy them sometimes in Marks&Spencer but there is only one type of candy. Most people there don't like liquorice so shops don't have them in offer :c
Yea it's really good quality but it's also pricey! It's almost 3e for that 90g 😂 Once in a while when I can afford, I buy that chocolate but in lemon flavor. Dang it's good.
Emmy, I started watching you a year ago and since then I went from never trying much out of my comfort zone in my 27 years to already trying not only new things but different international foods! I have had 5 or 6 different MRE's, I have had Japanese snacks, Chinese snacks, Mexican treats and more! I think all together I have tried 50 new foods because of you! Thank you for doing what you do, and giving us such wonderful treats every week!
+emmymadeinjapan Hi Emmy! I loved this! I tend to think only of those fishy things they like and the licorice. There is a candy I used to eat as a kid and it still sells in bulk in the States. Its a taffy but it takes like licorice sort of. But better. Its black and white and pink. And I have totally spaced the name. Damn! I think you would really like that one. TY for your vids!
Kelsey Amahrii Well thanks for trying but thats not it. Believe me. I don't like licorice enough to try them lol! This is actually a taffy. Its even wrapped like a taffy in white-pink-black waxed paper. Its really yummy too. Black cow taffy? IDK. I can't wait to buy some more. Maybe I could send her some....
My son and I always watch your videos together. He's only a couple months younger than your youngest and I watched your videos the entire time I was pregnant. So now when my son hears your voice he snatches my phone and watches your videos in a corner. He loves you!
I love how you appreciate every part of the food, not just the taste. I'm sure the manufacturers are happy someone pays attention to the amount of hours they put in to designing the pattern on each bar hahaha
I truly love watching and learning with you! My daughter's favorite part is the end when you do something silly. She always says, "wait for it!" And giggles. Keep tasting!
The fox candy you ate is a rowanberry-marmalade candy (Pihlaja = rowan). The Fazer company has made them since 1895, the design has stayed pretty much the same for all these years. I always get super excited when you post a new Emmy eats world -video. It's so interesting to see what kind of food people eat in other countries.
every single time you make videos where you taste finland sweets and food i click so fast not saying that i don't watch your other videos and i love those pihlaja fox candies
I'm from Finland and I hated black and salty licorice when I was younger but now I reaaaally love it!! And every time I see that dark mint chocolate bar in the store I think of you so I'm really happy someone sent it to you.
When you held up the popcorn chocolate bar to smell it I was hoping you would take a big bite right out of it! The retro looking packaging is amazing. I wish we had more of that in the states.
The first one, Pihlaja, is totally my favourite (and the candy that is found on every grandmother to give to their grandchildren as treats, well, at least the grandmothers of 'children' in my generation, in our thirties).
I just watched a lot of your videos and I have to say this, "Your explanation of the taste and texture of foods is sooo accurate". I know this because I am an Indian and our food is actually very tough to describe but you did it beautifully. :-)
An interesting fact about the Da-capo chocolate: it's a classic from Fazer and they first started making it to somehow make use of the chocolate scraps they got from making their liqueur-filled bonbons!
The candy originally contained Sorbus aucuparia berries, but the recipe has since changed and the candy is now called "Pihlaja".[2] Until 1982 the candy was also known as "Pihlajanmarja" (Sorbus berry). by wikipedia
i'm half-finnish and get such nostalgia from watching you eat these. my personal favorite chocolate bar by Fazer has to be the classic milk chocolate. addictive. :)
The pihlaja fox candies you ate are made of a berry called: pihlajanmarja or rowan berry. From the name I think you can guess that grows on rowan trees. The berries are eaten mostly by birds and it seems that they can cause stomach issues in humans if eaten raw, but birds do not get the same symptoms.
I looooove black licorice and salmiakki!! But I'm Finnish so that explains it a bit I'm sure :D btw the Pihlaja fox candies are marmelade originally made from the berries of the rowan tree :) it's the oldest candy from Fazer that's still in production.
So, some trivia on the cute Pihlaja candy because it's a bit of a cultural icon: - It is Fazer's oldest product, originally conceived in 1895. It's a very nostalgic candy, with a big "those things Grandma used to give when we visited" kinda vibe. I'm not sure if the fox head design is from the very beginning, but it is very old. The waxy paper wrapper in particular has been the same for as long as I remember. Nobody really uses the actual name, they're just "kettukarkki", meaning "fox candy" for most people. - As for the official name, "Pihlaja" is the Finnish word for rowan. This refers to the fact that the original recipe actually used rowan berries. The recipe has since changed, I assume to use more artificial flavours. The name ties in with the fox head logo, because in the Finnish adaptation of Aesop's "Fox and the Grapes" fable, the fox was trying to reach a cluster of rowan berries. (This is an odd change since, unlike the perceived "sour grapes" in the original fable, rowan berries *are* in fact very sour, which kinda defeats the moral of the story. But I digress.) Anyways, I know this video is 4 years old, but I wanted to leave a comment for the benefit of anyone who might stumble here late like I just did.
I LOVE Jim bars. They're my favorite candy in the world. I very rarely buy them though, I'm kinda afraid I'll ruin it for myself so I only get them when I really want to spoil myself.
Looks really yum love your description of the food. If you didn't like salmiakki I wouldn't suggest Potter's liquorice it comes in a tin and half the size of a tactic but with the flavour of a whole box of liquorice.
emmymadeinjapan thank you for loving Finland cuz many pepole dont even know what is Finland is btw im from Finland so moi moi+moi moi means bye bye but moi means hello
Though I've never tried Salmiakki, I love soft black liquorice. I am glad that none of my friends do, as it means they never mooch. The Panda brand kind is especially delicious, both black and the raspberry kind they have. And its made in Finland.
I am struggling with licorice too: it is only in the not that bad and bad scale, while salmiakki rests on the "Lord have mercy" point :D I will move to Finland next month and eventhough I've been there a few times the "Emmy Eats Finland" episodes will come so handy 😊 Ever been there Emmy? So good food everywhere! I love it!
I absolutely adore black liquorice and salmiakki. Tyrkisk Peber is one of my favourite candies by far, though I can understand why people would dislike it.
Iso in the pätkis means big in english, its a bigger version of the smaller one. Stor is Swedish also for big, since Swedish is Finlands second language.
I think I have acquired a taste for black licorice as well! My grandmother really enjoys it and introduced me to a sweeter, milder brand. I find that more synthetic licorice compared to natural anise licorice suits me! Lol.
I actually tried salmiakki because of you and discovered that I really like it. The 'salt' is a little odd to get used to, since it isn't table salt and has a slightly different taste. I already liked licorice, so that probably helped.
Pihlaja candies were used to be made from Sorbus berries, indeed Pihjala means Sorbus, now they make them from apples, which...makes no sense because sorbus berries grow so easily. Karl Fazer comes in heckofalotof flavours, I would compare it to jelly beans of chocolate world, even with probably more flavours than Jelly Beans produces. Fazer itself gives free tastings at their factory tours
Maybe you've already been told this, Emmy, but the reason why you see example "Iso/Stor" on Pätkis-bar is that many candy wrapping and bags of chips are both in Finnish and in Swedish because Swedish is the official second language of Finland. It's common with Finnish products that has both Finnish and Swedish on them (often also including English and also other languages), but there are obviously also only-Finnish or only-Swedish text on some Finnish products depending on the producers. I like salmiakki and licorice. :) I'm not a fan of the really strong and spicy salmiakki though. I prefer to stay with the mild ones.
Pihlaja is one of my all time favorite candies. I eat it like max once a year so it always feels special. One of the rare candies I could eats as a child and still (as it doesn't contain milk). Hope you loved it too, I'll go watch now ->
Pihlaja is my favorite classic Fazer candy alongside with Marianne. Pihlaja means rowan because it originally contained rowan berries but the candies are usually called kettukarkki = Fox candies.¨ Also better way to describe the taste of salty popcorn chocolate would be kinda like rice chocolate, because everyone who has tasted it (including me) has said that it tastes exactly like rice chocolate. Thank you for eating Finland
Pihlaja is called Fox candy in common usage, it was originally made out of berries of Sorbus aucuparia and it is oldest still on sale candy from Fazer. Sadly they changed the recipe. Da Capo can get you in trouble in breathalyzer test right after eating it xD. On the thumbnail, you have the strawberry (berry) Fazer chocolate bar, but you are not tasting on the video, mistake or just something else?
I like licorice, but it's one of those things I have to be in the mood for. Chocolate mints are another story entirely. I could eat them by the bucketload, any time. When I go to the theater, Junior Mints are my popcorn. ^_^
Suomi Dude oot suomalaine jote kirjotan nyt suomeks tarkotan sitä et on esim salmiakkii on ilman lakua semmone musta salmiakki on vaa niinku salmiakin makusta lakuu salmiakki on valkosta niinku esim ne gifu pienet valkoset pastillit on salmiakkii

I love how Emmy doesn't make a fuss about things she just eats it and doesn't hesitate. Other youtubers I have seen have been like that's gross or don't eat it at all but you try it and give us feedback. Love you Emmy 3
she's very respectful towards all the foods from different countries which I appreciate
Thanks. 😊
+emmymadeinjapan Please oh please! Try mämmi, karjalanpiirakka, perunapiirakka and Vaasan ruisleipä
As a Finn, I want to thank you for your fantastic impressions of whatever it is that you're tasting - you've nailed the texture, sweetness and taste of the candies, better than I could describe as a native. +Atykifobia Aww... Thanks for your comment... 😍
Your positivity is always the best part of my day
Easy to be positive when you are a minor celebrity with a bangin husband and own a large plot of land in one of the more desirable parts of the US.
I LOVE these longer episodes.. am I the only one who could just enjoy 20 minutes of tasting?
Lubersushi I always watch more than one video, just have to
I love these videos of yours where you taste stuff from all over the World. Your voice is so calming and soothing. 😩❤️
You can tell the quality of the chocolate by the sound of Emmy eating it. I'm jealous.
Yea it's really good quality but it's also pricey! It's almost 3e for that 90g 😂 Once in a while when I can afford, I buy that chocolate but in lemon flavor. Dang it's good.

Ha! I never knew. 😆

Absolutely love food tasting channels, and your respectful and positive attitude just makes it better than most :)

If you're eating the sixth time, means you really enjoy their food:)
Not necessarily. They just keep sending it.
When you held up the popcorn chocolate bar to smell it I was hoping you would take a big bite right out of it! The retro looking packaging is amazing. I wish we had more of that in the states.

I re-tried my husband's blank licorice because of your videos. That and fried eggs are the two things I just cannot force myself to like.
Emmy is the only person ever that gets satisfied when she sees gray candy
I am living in finland and i love your emmy eats finland videos!

From the look on your face the mint chocolate bar has to taste heavenly.

Anyway it was a way off joke. I'm psychologist, I know exactly how a real OCD is xD
