I just found your channel, and I have to say I’ve really enjoyed your videos of these thunderstorms and other weather events on your channel. Keep up the good work 👍
I'm 70yrs old and I can always remember my dad saying to count the seconds after the thunder to the lightning strikes to give you a good indication of how far away the storm is
Had a lightning bolt strike less than 100 yrds away from me. It was so loud it woke everyone up in my neighbourhood and also set a few car alarms off xD
The night of these thunderstorms I woke up to what seemed like paparazzi outside! Also had the window open (not the best thing!) and had to launch across the bed to close it! Extremely strong wind at the time too. Recently we have had a lot of stormy weather over our way, next time it happens I’ll be sure to film it and send it across to you! 👍🌪⛈
There is always a sense of jeopardy with these films! It creates a real sense of excitement though whilst at the same time can’t help but feel that you’re alright!!!!
Just subscribed to your channel, loving your blogs - I remember this storm well - was watching it in north liverpool for hours ! Keep up the great work 👍
I am so happy to have found your channel. I live in the Ribble Valley and recently it has been extremely hot and humid lately. Last week we had some amazing storms and on Friday, we have a chance of a big thunderstorm. Love your videos and it's great to find someone so local
Watching storm and tornado chaseshas done me the world of good I was so frightened by thunder, and now it is very exciting waiting for a storm to break,
Awesome watch buddy. love the show. keep it going. to add interest, you watched the very same system that i video'ed in Bristol in 2019 and that was super spectacular. I've only just caught these shows on here but I'm now a confirmed lightning nut... always was really. Thanks So Much
Really really enjoyed this video and the footage, totally share your enthusiasm for the chase of these things and yes it’s not often we get such cool storms! We had two really impressive storms in early August on the Wirral
All those storms were forecast to move over the midlands. I live near Stoke on Trent and I heard one rumble of thunder and saw two or three flickers of lightning. Seems to be the same every time storms are forecast - they miss us out totally. Great content, enjoyed that!
The storm was epic to say the least! Went out to my local park just to snap some pics, and breathe the somewhat fresher air that the storm brought :D Thunderstorms in London this year have been pretty hit or miss for my area at least, but boy when they have come about they've been quite powerful! We still have a bit of summer left, and of course storm season over Autumn should bring more thunderstorms our way :-)
Intense storms make me nervous! Six of our trees were destroyed by lightning in the past 10 years and a tornado did $75,000 dollars worth of damage to my in-laws' house. Two other houses suffered considerable damage and one house was wiped out! Only the roof remained!
Ik this was a few months back but I have an 8 min video of one of many storms that where in the area and omg the lightning in the storm I had jeez it was brilliant my area was (Staffordshire (burntwood)
I remember the thunderstorms across the East Midlands on July 24/25 that night plenty of lightning. Two cells converge just south from where I live. Lets hope the summer will be hot and stormy again like 2019.
When you go chasing thunderstorms, it's not a good idea to be exposed, even if there's a load of streetlight poles around, lightning doesn't always hit the highest point It was a good idea to shoot from the boot of your car, but don't have yyour feet on the ground, the car is a Faraday cage (it's not the tyres that keep you safe) I play with high voltage, so i know something about it I've been watching and waiting for a decent thunderstorm here in Sout Wales, but all the good ones seem to go right past, i live in a bit of a valley, the sound of thunder echoes around, it's awesome. Also, they say that if there's a chance you could be hit by lightning, your hair stands up on end :D
why does the wind always pick up during a thunderstorm or is that just to blow it over quicker ?you can always tell when a thunderstorm is close without even looking at the sky and thats the sudden pick up in the wind well thats what ive always found anyway,
they do say that if you start counting the seconds from the lightning to the rumble of thunder that tells you how many miles away it is from you, like 1-2-3-4 and so on
Btw fantastic video mate I’m looking at starting to go out to the garden to video thunderstorms this year (although I’m scared of being out in them my dream job is to be a storm chaser)
I had the creepiest storm ever in 2019. Blue sky then suddenly a rumble of thunder and some lightning then hail and gail force wind then gone in 10minutes flat
Get a tripod and leave the camera pointing in roughly the same direction as the storm. Don't move the camera around the chances of catching multiple strikes will diminish if you keep moving it around!

Your wife will know where you've gone when she hears the thunder. 😂

About 5 seconds per mile.
Respect for travelling at night to catch these amazing storms for us
I was out watching this storm too, only ventured as far as the back garden but I got myself a sweet shot of one of the forks

9:34 What was that in the background over your shoulder? Would've said a shooting star but with cloudcover and a thunderstorm? A reflection maybe?
