CHEAP 3-Point Grain Drill Tryout! I bought a Field Tuff grain drill- lets try it out and see if it holds up!! Subscribe to PA Dirt Worx: / @padirtworx9761
Rye is only fussy with the seed depth. Heavy seeding probably won't hurt. Around me they plant Rye for a winter cover crop. Some hay it before they spray, but plant soybeans. Dad did that 60 years ago. It's good to see old technology in use. Keep notes. The grain drill should be alright. Thanks Chris.
I work for a ag dealer that can get these drills. Different folks have ordered them cause of the price. The longest one that lasted was 2 weeks. One guy broke the frame on the openers, and bent the frame that the rolling basket bolts to. The other guy lost 2 opening disk the same day he picked it up from us. I guess different strokes for different folks.
I figured it wouldn't last too long. I mainly bought it to see if a seed drill would be beneficial to our operation. If I used it a lot, I planned to buy a quality one. Thanks 🙂
Man yeah Mr Chris!! I really like that little drill! Plastic should be ok since most of your stuff.stays under shelter😁 I like that roller wheel on the back as well!! Can't wait to see how the stand looks my friend!! Congrats on 6k+ too!! Great to see ya back I'm sure you have been wide open!! Look fwd to more sir!! 😁😁👍👍
Good looking drill.. some of the big names make some pretty cheap drills. Seed cups are all plastic now.. so can't really knock it there.. seed charts are a joke on some too... Now to see if it planted the seed upside down, or right side up...
I got 1 similar, However don't try to turn with it. I broke an outside disc , a bolt broke but a special shaped 1. You cant buy them ,I had to make a new 1 on the lathe, which was a hassle. So lift and turn. I'm not sure how long it will last. All the instructions are in chinese and so are the labels on the unit. Thanks for the vid.
It turned out ok- I had it set so it planted the seed to deep. Overall it worked ok. I don't remember the price off hand, but I am sure it is a lot more now than when I bought mine. Thanks 🙂
I have been looking for a cultimulcher, but any close to me are priced around $5k. I might buy just a cultipacker and see if that will help- something else for the h to do!
When using a smaller drill then the tractor you have have them tread ruts. If you had the right match up with tractor and drill it would of turned out better
Yes Chris, man it is nice to see some field work, very coll with the Little Blue
Thanks Jan! Little blue is a very useful tractor that I sure am glad to have around 🙂
Plastic doesn't rust, just keep it out of the sun

Keeping notes is a great idea 🙂 Thanks Bryce!!

Brian -How much do they run ? And how much is the least expensive quality one ?
It's interesting enough. I'll be looking for a crop update on that field to see what the stand looks like. Regards!
I will definitely do an update 🙂 Thanks!
I would like to know how it planted cause the front box I don’t will be for drilling seed but more for planting corn or beans in rows
It looks like it is doing a nice job. Hopefully the rye will come up good.
I hope so! Thanks 🙂

Nelson could be planting soybeans with that 😁 most of those same things are plastic on the big grain drills also Chris
@@TheGrumpyFarmer You just had to say it didn't ya 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It is ok- not bad for small fields and easy to haul to projects. Thank you! It took a long time to get to 6k 🤪
@@TheGrumpyFarmer Thanks for the info! I wasn't sure whether the plastic parts were normal or just on this drill because it was cheap 🤣
@@Pennies_on_the_dollar its here if you need to borrow it 😉
Looks like the Cheap Grain Drill worked pretty good overall. Hopefully your seed rate wasn't too far off. Take care.
It seemed to work OK. Definitely too light on the seed rate, but something should grow 🤣 Thanks Ron!
Nice looking drill...👍
Thanks!!

Thanks for the laugh Ed.
@@brycewiborg8095 well, you never know.... Lol..
It got through the first field without breaking, so that's something 🤣🤣🤣 I sure hope the seed wasn't upside down 🤞😁🙃😂
@@dehavenfamilyfarm well, you should know in a week or so..lol
That's a cute drill!! Keep it inside and it should last you a while.
It will definitely stay inside. Handy to haul to off-farm projects! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Hello, when you get the the end of a row, and turn around how does the seed stop coming out of the shoots/tines
If Cheapo gets the job done It work's. Looks like you will need to store in dry shaded place forever. Hope it works out for you.
So far, it works 🤣 Thanks!!

It sounds like it needs some lubrication. It'll last longer and be less annoying whent using it.
Have you tried no till with it?
I'm curious how well your seeding turned out with your drill and also the price of it?
It turned out ok- I had it set so it planted the seed to deep. Overall it worked ok. I don't remember the price off hand, but I am sure it is a lot more now than when I bought mine. Thanks 🙂
Where did you find it and how much did you give for it ?
Looking for the result video... how did it work out?
Not too bad. I had it set so it planted the seed to deep. Other than that, pretty good. Thanks 🙂
Interesting piece. I like the rolling bar leaves a nice bed. You could run a roller over it #WorldsOkayestFarmer
Cool idea!
Looks like it got the seeds in the ground ok.
Seemed to work ok- time will tell 🤣 Thanks Pete!
You don’t want to use the word “cheap”. You want to use the word inexpensive. Inexpensive just sounds so much classier. Lol
I always say economical lol..
@@AgWildNebraska I do like that better. There you go Chris, it’s been decided that you use the word economical from now on. Lol
Economical does sound better! Thanks guys 😃
a lot of the plastics they have now are pretty darn tuff... i bet it will hold up just fine
I hope so! Thanks!! 🙂
How did it end up planting?
Not too bad- I had it set so it put the seed in the ground to deep. Overall it worked ok. Thanks 🙂
Cultimulching

Seems generally, cheap rarely works well nor lasts very long.

I agree- I just don't have a smaller tractor 🙂
Why bother buying a seed drill if you cultivate? Just use a spreader
