It’s funny I haven’t used one in forever but put a new handle on a spade the other day and it was perfect for shaping that. Thought the spokeshave could with a bit of TLC, and here I am😁
nice find. i whish there were carboots like that around here. first thing on old rusty metal: penetrating oil like wd40 and let it sit for a while. don’t destroy screw heads or risk breaking things. stanley also used to “japan” things. it’s not painted. it’s basically burnt in asphalt. so paint remover should be pointless. look up “japaning” - there are recipes how to do it.
Haven’t seen a spoke shave in years
I think people don't use them that often anymore

Used this type of spokeshave for 57 years -- very reliable ----newer Stanley 151--spokeshaves have adjustable blades --last longer!
Wow, 57 years is a long time. All the best.
Those 2 adjustable screw bolts ---in the new Stanley 151 -make a huge difference in adjusting the blade !
They do. Thanks
Nice work 👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
