What a beautiful set of journal jewels! So, just off the top of my head, a couple of additional ways to color that ‘might’ work. A lot of us have uv resin that can be colored with alcohol inks, or you can purchase colored as well. You will need a uv light or intense sun will work, I believe. A second idea was, and this has not been tried by me, perhaps nail polish, which now comes in a wide range of colors. Xo

I also have used nail polish and still do from time to time. What a great idea!!! I haven't bought gems for just this reason,...too many colors to buy! I should have thought of this. Ranger now sells empty alcohol ink bottles. I'm wondering if I could put Glossy Accents and few drops alcohol ink in them. And do this all in one step?! Great video. I will go buy some clear gems now!! I assume no AB coating??? I was thinking about doing GOLD LEAF on gems too??!! TFS. Austin,TX USA
Hi Barbara, thank you so much for your lovely comments, kind words and watching. I have actually tried your suggestion with glossy accents in a bottle mixed with alcohol inks but i find that it thickens the resin/acrylic gem, almost blurring the facets and creates a weird shine to it and it dilutes the color. Its pretty but it doesn't appeal to me, though it may suit you. That's why I prefer either alcohol ink or alcohol texters on their own and then spray with hairspray or a sealer as instructed in my tutorial. Or using clear glue with alcohol inks and have more control in little amounts, but you may find a technique that works best for you. Let me know how you go with the gold leaf on the gems. You are right, I don't buy AB coating with clear gems. Thanks Barbara, love how you're brimming with ideas...enjoy.

Glass gems...mmmm... it is hard to know what that could entail...I have used clear round smooth glass marble with flat backs, or round but flat smooth glass pebbles of varying sizes but they are not multifaceted....they are best painted at the back where it is flat and I have had nice results with painting the backs of them metallic paints and at other times nail polish, but I haven't tried them with alcohol inks. The gems I have been using in my tutorials are acrylic or resin rhinestones that are multifaceted, so regarding your question, I hope that my limited response proves helpful, but I am limited in what more I can share, beyond what I have already mentioned.
