the alcohol evaporates and leaves the color behind! once the ink is dry, there isnt any alcohol in it. idk if the pigments are flammable, but the concern shouldnt be the alcohol
Even if the pigments are flammable, I don't think that there would be enough there to make any kind of hazard. Remember that the wax is flammable too, and there is _way_ more of that there than the thin layer of pigments on the surface.
All I can think of was this is why pit stop refueling isn't done with alcohol fuels as much anymore because safety crews can't see to put out the fire.
I thinking this the whole time they were trying to light it and was kinda worried they'd catch on fire themselves, cuz they probably could not see the fire, having used alcohol flame to sterilise tools in the lab, so it got me on the edge of my seat D:
For the candles I would have used a method I've seen for the same idea, but on ceramic. You do one layer of alcohol ink, then a clear spray coat, to seal in the layer, then repeat. It can make a really cool marble pattern.
Just here rewatching old videos...I really like this one...it's interesting and different to see you both work on PJs with the same medium, but different objects. You should do this again with some other items! 👍🏻

Alcohol tends to burn clear. So it’s flaming, but you can’t see it. This is part of why alcohol fires can be so dangerous, because you burn yourself without even realizing it’s lit.
This is perfect timing! Six weeks ago my bedroom flooded and I lost most of my stuff. I've got to make a trip to Ikea to replace a bunch of things, so at least now I can grab some fun stuff to DIY as well!

I have a safety concern: When you guys were trying to light the glass on fire, pouring alcohol directly after trying to light something on fire can be super risky in my understanding, because you might not see that it actually is on fire, the fire can catch onto the stream of alcohol, go up into the bottle, and make it explode. Also considering that kids could get ideas to try similar more dangerous things. There have been cases of kids being inspired by other diy videos and have been seriously injured when handling alcohol on fire... I love your channel and always look forward to watching. Just a concern for you and others. Much much love.
The fire technique is certainly not intended for kids to take on without parental supervision (like other things we do on the channel ex: power tools and resin projects). We also edited out some additional safety precautions we took to help the video move along, but those are definitely things to keep in mind if anyone attempts this. Honestly I don't think the fire was enhanced the project much if at all and would recommend not bothering with it.
Luckily it wouldn't explode, since there is no, or too few oxygen inside, thats why fire is not propagating thru gas pipes ;) But kids, remember, safety first :)
