I look at these small plants and the fully grown giant Alocasias behind you and it makes me think of what these little Alocasias will look like when they get that big.
Hi Melissa, I was really excited to see that you were re potting your bambino. I have one in Moss and was unsure if I could go right to pon. I'm going to put it in stratum for a couple of weeks. Perfect timing. Thank you for your time and all the content you create 🌿
I love the look of the clear pots with the wicks, however I hate the algae that grows in and on them. In my experience they become a green stringy mess. So I have stayed away from them. 🤦🏼♀️How do you keep them so clean looking? I rinse my pon weekly.
Hi Mellisa. Love this repotting video. You know what you need next, lol. Is the milk shake Philodendron. Is mix with pink. White. Yellow. Mine is coming in the mail tomorrow. Well, it is just a cuttings. I was gonna get the big ones, but. I'm bad. I got a verygeted begonia. It wiped me out. lol. See what you made me do. 😅. Plus, I got the other 2 plants along with it, hoyas . Kinda went crazy on plants last week. Hopefully, these babies make it. Let me know how your begonia ginny galaxy is doing. ❤
Congrats on all your new plant babies! Haha yeah I went a little crazy too but def slowing down. The Ginny is doing well. Not sure what the milk shake philo is mill have to look it up 😊
@plantsbymelissa Hi Mellisa. Yes, me too. Got carried away. I need to slow down. Meet very friendly seller. I'm impressed this time, lol. I'm not used to that fast delivery either. Omg. 😅💓👍. Maybe because it was very close to me, it helps. Yeah, the Strawberry Shake Philodendron is kinda like pink Princess. Give it bright light, and the leaves also will turn pink 💗 is beautiful. I got my cuttings, which is yellow verygation right now, but eventually, when it gets older, it will turn pink. The price used to be high on it, but some came down . The whole plant is probably 85 or less defending whose selling them or the verygation too
Hi Melissa love watching your videos. Also I’m amazed how quickly you respond to messages. Can you please tell me how you reuse pon and which stratum do you buy?
Love watching your repots❤ i just ordered a tricolored ninja and I'm so so excited for her to arrive! Most of the time i see you switching to water or stratum before moving to pon, how do pick who can jump right into pon? Also I have a pink black velvet that i am terrified to swith over or mess with
I don’t move from soil to pon but that’s my preference. Once they’ve grown some new roots in stratum or water then I’ll move them over so it lessens the shock they may go through 💕
Thank you for sharing these process/repotting videos! I love watching your process, especially while I do my re-pottings/plant chores. I know how much work goes into these videos so they are definitely appreciated
I just dumped boiling hot water in a container and let it soak in it. I got mesh bags to hold the pon so it doesn’t spill everywhere. I just started with the wicks so not sure yet how I’ll feel about them :) sometimes I see mold on top but it’s usually from lack for airflow 😊
@@plantsbymelissa Oooo okay! Thanks for sharing! I have some used pon I want to sanitize too so i'll do that. Would love to know what you think once your plants have been in the wick pots in the future! Excited for more videos and drops on your site hehe
I hope I didn’t kill my ninja… I ordered a plug from the green escape on Etsy, it came and was happy but tiny. During a hot spell, I think I watered it too soon and both leaves melted. The corm and roots don’t seem to be affected but I put it in a rooting bin, I hope that helps it. One of the leaves had a bit of variegation so I’m wondering if it was a reverted variegate or maybe a low variegate, idk, but hopefully I can find out soon.
Hi Melissa! Great video as always ❤ It does seem like something is off with your last two Alocasia. I didn’t see you checking the rhizome for rot? Sometimes they rot at the bottom while they still have some roots left.
Hi Melissa! I love watching your video before everyone else hahahahaha. Have you ever considered switching to the Naked Root pot? I am still experimenting with my Philodendron Ring of Fire I am on my 3rd week still no watering and there’s less than 1/8 inch of water left then I am suppose to wait for the “dry period”. I think I am going to transfer a lot of my plants when I want to repot again.
Glad I could give early access 🫶🏻 never heard of them but I’m pretty happy with the planters I’m using and current watering routine. I’ve spent so much on all the self watering pots I have already 💕
What I don't like about the naked root pots are the side slits. The roots grow through them and when it's time to repot the plant you lose a bunch of roots. My albo lost so many roots that way that it set her back a lot and it took months waiting for new roots to form and new growth. From my experience I stay away now from any pots with side slits
@@plantswithsara oh that is sad! I have a root growing out of the slit now and was flabbergasted because this plant has never grown in my care and now it is. I can certainly understand with a bigger plant. I love not watering it though!
I get you. I have 95% of my collection including that albo in self watering pots (with no side slits) and in semi hydro and I water them sooo less often now. It's game changing💚
1:59 Hi Melissa, would you mind sharing where you got th net pot with the clear cache pot combo at? I can't seem to find the cache pot anywhere (the clear one in your video). Thank you!!
Melissa. I just got a huge ficus from Costco and I wanted to hang a grow light over the top of it. I’m looking in your Amazon shop and I see the bulb and cord but I need to know where you got your rattan lamp shade from!!!! I’m in love ! ❤😂
I just repotted my two alocasia from the rare plant fairy and I think the plugs are like a cococoir plug??? I haven’t worked with cococoir before, so it’s just an educated guess.
It’s a good idea to see what you’re starting with but once I’ve added everything then I adjust ph last. I don’t check often anymore since my regimen hasn’t changed 😊
Hi Melissa, do you know where I can find the containers that you had the "aurea" in (the second plant) before you transitioned it? it is the little plastic cup that is very (VERY) flexible? I have been trying to find these cups for young plants. I like how they are flexible so very little root damage. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. I really enjoy watching repotting and explanations. Learn a great deal from you. I don't have a bambino, do they generally stay smaller? One thing that made me happy watching this video was NO PESTS. I always feel bad when you are dealing with pests. My bane of existence has been fungus gnats this summer. Mind you only three have bugged me at night while on the laptop, but one is too many. I don't have many but even one is too many. They come with summertime and outside gardens. :-P Have a great day. Maybe tomorrow I will "catch" a plant for sale and finally be able to purchase from you. :-) Someday for sure!
@@plantsbymelissa Thank you so much! I tried to find it but was not successful. No worries. I love your videos. Thanks for all you have done to teach me.

I just got all the new clear pots so I’ll have to see how they do. I might have to rinse them more often if they collect a lot of algae.
The Yucatán princess is really pretty.
You inspire me to move my plants to pon!!

How long do you keep them in stratum before you put them in pon
Question :) Do you water your stratum (corms/pon transfers) with your nutrient solution or just distilled?
Usually just tap water but lately I’ve been using my nutrient solution just so they can get silica right away now. I’m worried the new plants will get pests if I they don’t get it.

it’s over 30 now
@@plantsbymelissa WOW‼️
I think I want to move my Alocasias to pon should I put them stratum first or can I go straight to pon?
It’s up to you. I don’t like soil transfer to pon. I made a pon care video last month that covers all that I do 😊

❤👏❤👏
❤❤❤
How much water are you putting in the stratum?
I usually fill it to the top but it doesn’t really matter. It’ll wick up the moisture. I try not to let it dry out though.
Thank you!
