Thank you for your tips for plants with edema! I have (hopefully soon had) that exact problem with my pink bambino and couldn't find a proper solution - till now! 😊🤩
Hi, Love your videos! Do you have any tips for white fluffy mold on top of pon? There’s no way for me to use fans for airflow, maybe you know something that might help with that
Yes, I have a customer struggling with this. I tried a ton of things. What I finally found that worked was... A spray bottle with a mixture of Water, Hydrogen Peroxide & Fungicide. Fungicide kills most the spores. So It seemed to work for me. Let me know if you try this & if it also works for you!
Could you do a video on fertilizer. I've heard with pon you need to add extra like cal mag. Silica. I use foliage pro. I have extremely hard well water so I use a zero water filter that's why I add in the cal mag and silica with foliage pro k to give back the extra minerals that I'm missing with my foliage pro in that water but would love to see a video on you and your mom talking about fertilizing with alocasia
@@wendib6028 Try swapping to foilage focus. It has a good balance of minerals for your plants. Especially with Anthurium, alocasia & Philodendron. Begonia and other varieties don't like it as much. I can certainly touch base on this in a future video. 🥰

Thank You So Much For Getting This Video Up So Quick For Us. I Watched Your Moms Advice With The Bambino. Quick Question - She Says To Leave The Reservoir Dry. Does She Mean For Ever Or Only Until The Bambino Gets More Mature?! Another Awesome Video Btw - Thanks To You Both!!
Hi there. My mature bambino is doing extremely well with about a half inch of water in her reservoir now so yes, once mature try a bit of water and see how she does. I get a bit of edema but nothing serious for the most part.
@jaxsonn4 I leave mine dry until the pon itself dries out or until the edema subsides. She leaves the reservoir dry and never fills it. She will pour water through her pot once a week give or take. Did that answer the question? You're so welcome. I am glad the advice was helpful. 🥰

Hope you’re well and will show us your imports soon!❤🪴 ???Question for mom when you put new plant in pon and soil roots die do you remove them from pon? Does it disturb plant too much? Thank you!❤
I was wondering the same about the roots dying off. I'm thinking maybe after the first month or so you'd have to take the plant out and clean the pon out completely.
@@thumpaharley7564 once she sees good new roots I believe she typically cleans them off to avoid rot and bacteria growth. It's hard to gauge music volume on my phone. Sorry. It was at a level 3 my moms volume was 400. I will just remove it next time. Thank you
Hi there. Good question. Yes, I typically give them a few weeks then I remove the plant from Pon and take out all the rotting roots and then I repot. Most of the time if there are a lot of rotting roots I actually just use fresh pon as I find it easier than rooting through the old pon trying to search out all the rotting bits. 😂
@@RainbowMonsterxx33 perlite is very similar to pon, so it's a nice way to transition. When I transfer, i usually don't give it water right away. That seems to help with mine

@dragonfruit969 personal advice, do the type of planting you're comfortable with. We both use pon alone for mature plants. We only use the stratum and pon for corms and baby plants. You're going to have more sucess doing what you're comfortable and more familiar with.
@@otaku.plants I never thought of that. This whole week I tried using stratum but rotted my Alocasias, yet I haven't watered it. Thank you for letting me know, many have been trying to convince me to use a different substrate for my pink velvet but I struggle with pon and stratum. This was very helpful, thank you.
@dragonfruit969 of course, yeah my best advice for everyone, is always do what you're confident & comfortable with. Practice with substrates with other plants you don't mind losing. 😉

I just got an maharani albo last week and i put it in pon. I have noticed that the roots are a little bit brownish.. is this normal? The water isn’t touching the roots. It’s right below the roots. I’m scared it’s going to die😢 the leaf seems to be doing fine though
@thaniacisneros5785 I don't like brown roots. But it could be killing off the old roots to make space for new ones. Keep checking on the stem. If it gets less stiff, then it's probably not doing well. Maybe give it a day to dry up a little. Then refill the basin. It's hard to day really. If the leaf looks okay, I'd say, give it time. But I also don't want to give you incorrect information.
@@otaku.plants I pulled it out of its pots today and one of the roots came off easily. Would you put yours in perlite and stratum? Or just keep it in pon?
@thaniacisneros5785 if keep it in pon! Alocasia seem to thrive in pon. Just put it in pon. Spray with a little fresh water and leave it until the next day. Needs to dry a little. Then refill with fresh water
