Yes totally agreed. Majority of monks just try to convert Buddhism to religion with sinhala nationality. The best damage to pure Buddha's teaching. Seem daily loud preaching haven't work. How ever luke words "someone need pair of slippers" the way of Buddhist thinking and practice so you don't need buddhist label to practice it. Appreciate your continuous positivity
The Sankapala temple was build by a military commander named.. PUSSADEWA who was in the army of king Dutu Gamunu. (in 161-137 B.C) King Dutu Gamunu was one of the greatest king in Sri lankan history.pussadewa was a giant with extraordinary physical strength..amazing video. 🔥❤️

Also his symbol was the conch shell itself.Later on he had built this great sacred place and become a Buddhist monk there. Having won the Vijithapura war this area had been offered to Pussadeva by king Dutugemunu, for taking the priority in the war. According to legends, the conch shell he used at "Vijithapura war" has been entombed in a rock called Hakgedi Gala (Conch shell rock) which is situated on the top of the mountain. As a result this temple has been named Sankapala temple

Hello guys. I'm sorry about your flip flops being stolen ☹. If you are still in Uda Walawa, the Sugarcane Research Institute is situated there. If you are interested in finding out more on what kinds of sugar and sugar related products are made here in Sri Lanka, you might be able to call and ask them for a tour of the institute (I don't know if they do tours now but it doesn't hurt to ask). I have been there many years ago and it was a nice experience for me.

Long ago this was very commen loosing slipers at temples .but never heard it these days. Sometimes young guys do it for fun ,without thinking the hard situation orher person has to go through. You guys should visit Balangoda Belihuloya are. Almost 60 km away from udawalawe. Kinda cool place with comfortable weather and ice cold water streams everywhere.
May be sometimes if you wear a generic flip flop(we call them slippers or in sinhala we say sereppu Portuguese word)with a generic colour.. it will get mixed up..and some where theres a flip flop left out

Anyway, flipflop stealing is a common thing here in Sri Lanka since past 🙂. This is a common situation near temples, kovils, and other religious places. We normally used to hide them or we use old flipflops for those places. So don't mind it. Hope you're understanding the situation. It's like Europeans using many types of locks to lock their bicycles. Not worth much, but it's like a habit. Just forget it. 😋
Sorry about what happend in the temple guys. Next time leave your footwaer with a flower vendor. They will keep your footware safe untill you comeback. Even us locals do that when we enter a temple. Beacuse there are some thieves aorund these places looking for nice footware to steal. Hope this didnt make you feel bad about the country. Enjoy your time here. ❤️

Beautiful video. It's really refreshing to see uncommon locations you pick always. Losing your flip flops gave a total new experience I guess. It's not funny to go through that feeling when you know they are gone. We call them temple rogues and they target a temple to get their new slippers mostly because thats the only place they find with unattended slippers😅. As Sri lankans we use few tricks to avoid this. Leave it in your vehicle or leave one slipper far away from the other (at least 5mtrs apart) and make sure to turn only one of them upside down, this gurantees safety😅. There is always a fascinating historical story to most of such old places. It will be much more interesting to your viewers around the globe if you can include these too. Keep up the amazing work 👍
Buddhism never taught to wish by offering flowers. you need to do 3 things by offering flowers. 1. Flower should be freshed 2. Flower should have a color 3. And it should have a good fragrance We have to imagine That flowers like our life.. what will happened to the flowers we offered in later.. flowers are dying ,no flower fragrance and no fressness is similar to Our lives. So when we offer the flowers we must imagine these flowers are like our lives and this was taught by Lord Buddha and we worship to respect only not for any wishes. 😊

It's not unexpected. It's so common in most places in Sri Lanka. Place their old slippers on the floor and steal the new ones. Have some common sense to admit that it happens to most of us. Its Sri Lanka, we are not proud of it, but it is what it is.

May be sometimes if you wear a generic flip flop(we call them slippers or in sinhala we say sereppu Portuguese word)with a generic colour.. it will get mixed up..and some where theres a flip flop left out

Anyway, flipflop stealing is a common thing here in Sri Lanka since past 🙂. This is a common situation near temples, kovils, and other religious places. We normally used to hide them or we use old flipflops for those places. So don't mind it. Hope you're understanding the situation. It's like Europeans using many types of locks to lock their bicycles. Not worth much, but it's like a habit. Just forget it. 😋

Sorry about what happend in the temple guys. Next time leave your footwaer with a flower vendor. They will keep your footware safe untill you comeback. Even us locals do that when we enter a temple. Beacuse there are some thieves aorund these places looking for nice footware to steal.

Sankapala Temple was built by Giant Pussadeva one of ten legendary giant warriors of King Dutugamu's army (161 BC to 137 BC). King Dutugemunu is renowned for reuniting the whole island of Sri Lanka by defeating and overthrowing Elara, the usurping Tamil prince from the Chola Kingdom, who had invaded the Anuradhapura kingdom in 205 BC , According to chronicle of King Dutugemunu, Giant Pussadeva was one of them whose duty was to inform the king's battle victories to the subjects, by blowing a conch shell. Also his symbol was the conch shell itself.Later on he had built this great sacred place and become a Buddhist monk there. Having won the Vijithapura war this area had been offered to Pussadeva by king Dutugemunu, for taking the priority in the war. According to legends, the conch shell he used at "Vijithapura war" has been entombed in a rock called Hakgedi Gala (Conch shell rock) which is situated on the top of the mountain. As a result this temple has been named Sankapala temple. Sanka means conch in sinhala
Beautiful video. It's really refreshing to see uncommon locations you pick always. Losing your flip flops gave a total new experience I guess. It's not funny to go through that feeling when you know they are gone. We call them temple rogues and they target a temple to get their new slippers mostly because thats the only place they find with unattended slippers😅. As Sri lankans we use few tricks to avoid this. Leave it in your vehicle or leave one slipper far away from the other (at least 5mtrs apart) and make sure to turn only one of them upside down, this gurantees safety😅. There is always a fascinating historical story to most of such old places. It will be much more interesting to your viewers around the globe if you can include these too. Keep up the amazing work 👍

Buddhism never taught to wish by offering flowers. you need to do 3 things by offering flowers.
1. Flower should be freshed
2. Flower should have a color
3. And it should have a good fragrance
We have to imagine That flowers like our life.. what will happened to the flowers we offered in later.. flowers are dying ,no flower fragrance and no fressness is similar to Our lives. So when we offer the flowers we must imagine these flowers are like our lives and this was taught by Lord Buddha and we worship to respect only not for any wishes. 😊
