Shanghai has some fantastic food! Not spicy, but good. 😂😂😂
Will you guys be interested in going to Changsha, Hunan, to enjoy some delicious spicy food ?😳
Why not go to Nanshan Bamboo Sea in Jiangsu for vacation? It's a very famous scenic spot over there
but sweet 😂
As a Shanghai born and raised person, I highly recommend you guys try the XiaoTao noodle restaurant where is located at 222 Jiashan Road. It’s 100% authentic Shanghainese cuisine. The spicy minced pork BanMian(the dry version noodles without the broth) is the best. I usually order a bowl of spicy minced pork noodle with a pan fried egg and SuJi(a special kind of tofu).
I am a 60 year old Shanghainese. I suggest that you try to avoid shopping and dining in tourist areas. Generally, Shanghainese can only visit Nanjing Road a few times in their lifetime. There are many areas in Shanghai with Shikumen architecture worth visiting, such as the areas near the south and north of Huaihai Middle Road.
椒盐排条 salt &pepper pork slice,咸菜毛豆Pickled edamame ,上海炒面 shanghai char mee,红烧肉 braised pork,u guys order dishes like a pro, Enjoy your meal.
Your video is wonderful! So fun!
Dongpuo Pork
As a native Shanghainese, I'm very glad that you like our Shanghai cuisine. The first dish you order is a very traditional Shanghai cuisine call"Spice Salt Ribs(椒盐排条)“, the spice is a mix with salt, white saseme, licorice and Sichuan pepper.(the ingredient may differ from every family). And yes, we put sugar in every dishes, even when stir cabbage we will put a little teaspoon of sugar, because we think it will brings out the freshness of food.
The three places in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai are the most economically developed areas in China. They are close to each other, and their eating habits are similar. The dishes are sweet. The characteristics of Shanghai are Braised pork belly in brown sauce and Xiaolongbao, but they are not unique to Shanghai. Jiangsu and Zhejiang also have them. So don't be surprised to see the same, just like Chongqing and Sichuan have hot pot
Coastal areas in the east are the most economically developed regions of China.
I think the yellow drink is buckwheat tea.
The way you guys are eating the food making it so yummy
Shanghainese has their own dialect & interesting cuisines and Shanghainese women are so beautiful
it always amuses me when I see Europeans discover seasoned food in Asia. I thought you guys already sailed around the world in the 1500s and discovered spices. 😄 love the video.
Spot On ! shanghai dish is known for its sweetness among the whole of china.
I love you.
wusu is a city's name in xinjiang province. Very beautiful but the most beautiful view is on“duku road” which was closed just few days ago. Maybe you can come on the next year on June. This road only open from June to October
Very interesting video! I can't believe that you guys can handle the sheer amount of people and enjoy it very much. I think that a lot of people there are for the Shanghai Bund, where there are a lot of skyscrapers and neolights at night.
Those savory dishes demand a side of rice. 🤣
Wonderful foods to eat. 🍲 🥘 🍱
It is so hot, but it is so good. Mnmn, I like it!! 🥰💯👍
It's Chinese "five-spice" really not my preference I like Chinese food but like you said it tastes like Christmas to me just Google the ingredients Licorice and cinnamon fennel seeds star anise and black pepper. Thanks for another Great Adventure have a great day🎉
When visiting villages in Yunnan, you should go to Daying Street in Yuxi, the first village in China, and mangshi and Pu 'er for delicious food in Yunnan.
Usually we order food with rice, just like salty meat and light rice will have a richer taste
Japanese do brown rice tea too.
I love Shanghai ❤
Wherever you go in China you find Starbucks and KFCs, really enjoy your videos of China adventures.👍😄😎
I was born and raised in Shanghai and spent many of my schooldays in Nanjing. I haven't been home for a while. Your videos made me a little homesick🥹
ShangHai is famous for small dishes. So you two can order a couple of dishes for a meal. But northern China or northeastern China one dish may serve multiple eaters. I learned it based on real experience when I was young .
you are right, the sweet pork is similar to dong po pork, it's called hong shao rou in mandarin, meaning red braised pork, the redness comes from brown sugar.
Welcome to Shanghai! Dishes from Shanghai and other provinces in the area all taste a bit sweet.
In Shanghai you can find foods from everywhere of the wolrd, not only local flavour, enjoy all of them in this international city!🤩
Shanghai is migrate city, originated by people from Suzhou, Hangzhou and around at the beginning. So the local foods are very similar.
I kind of understand how you feel when you taste the fried pork.
its so funny, cinnamon is often associated with meat in China, I always feel strange when I taste cinnamon in coffee or dessert when I travel abroad.
shanghainese cuisine flavour profile is sweet, savoury and actually overall less salty than other regions. no chilli either and not particularly oily. personally i prefer the intensity, spice and spices of sichuanese food.
Hello from VietNam❤
Luke’s face, again, says it all…😂
Shanghai and Suchow dishes are quite similar as they are virtually in the same region.
We are Chinese, we like eat hot food, we allway say “eat it when it’s hot”, but you no need to put the whole pork into your mouth🤣, just bite a little, then a little, so that we use chopsticks.
Lots of dishes have 5 or 13 spice mixes which contains cinnamon and star anis among others. Everytime you see something braised, it should at least have 5 spice.
That spring water listed in Hong Kong stock market and the owner is now the richest man in China
The Christmasy taste could be from the five spices, something often used in cooking pork dishes.
❤❤❤ from Malaysia again
Shanghai's and Hangzhou's dishes tend to be sweeter compared to other places'
Wusu beer manufactured in Xinjiang, it is famous beer in recent years.
That area is for tourist and mostly for Chinese tourist. That's why the food is Shanghai style food, sweet and sweet
There are many cities in northern China worth visiting, such as Tianjin, Beijing, Dalian, Harbin, etc. There are over 600 cities in China, and as you explore, you will discover many interesting things.
21:04 👍👍👍👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
Nanjing East road is like the time square of NYC, way too many tourists. You need to get far away from it 😂
can always expect getting yourself an ice cream or dessert at a mall
I like contents you so good
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I guess That top of ice cream are Marshmallows.
Thanks for sharing.🎉
Allow me to introduce a type of healthy tea, the dried chrysanthemum tea with goji berries.
Shanghai and Suzhou are not only geographically very close (the train stations in the city centres of these two cities are only 86km away), but they are also in the same dialect region (the Wu dialect region), thus the food is very similar. However, this region is also diverse due to transport being not easy in old times because of the river network in this region, thus each city developed its own style. For instance, the Xiaolongbao in Shanghai is always clear filling (steamed pork mince is light in colour) with no or very little soy sauce (you can't see the colour of soy sauce in the filling) while the same dish in Suzhou is always red filling (with soy sauce and its colour). They taste differently, too. Suzhou food is a tad sweeter (people from other parts of China say that Shanghai food is sweet, but to people from this region, it's not. Suzhou is a bit sweeter. Wuxi is 5X sweeter and that's for savoury dishes) and Suzhou makes better noodle soup.
U should try some SH local breakfast like xiaolongbao, wanton soup, onion oil dry noodles
Shanghainese cuisine and suzhou cuisine are both on the sweeter side, they use a ton of dark soy sauce and brown sugar.
I think that is barley tea
I have been following your videos since you started touring in China. I noticed that you recently changed your way of shooting video’s. It really makes viewers kind of dizzy while watching, especially when the camera toggles between two of you.
Are you still in Shanghai? The restaurant is very close to my office. Hope I have a chance to meet you
Ben Bang CAI means local dish 😅That means This restaurant is based on local Shanghai specialities.😊😊😊
🎉
Wusu beer comes from Xinjiang
wow,u gus will go xinjiang?cool~🎉
go to a restaurant called grandma.. plenty of Koreans love the red braised pork cubes there.
1s t
Could you please let us know where is this restaurant?Shanghai is such a big city.
Wusu is a famous beer brand from Xinjiang
Enjoy...😍
Shanghai is very similar to Suzhou in many ways
ordered too much.😂 You can take away if not finishing dishes.
wusu the best beer!!!!!!!!!!!
Why am I watching this video when I'm hungry? It's horrible!
Nanjing road is a road for scammers as well, it's so annoying and ruins the atmosphere.
Pity you guys don't like seafood, or fresh lake food. Because it's the crab season now. Although this particular species had invaded Germany, unfortunately you guys don't know how to eat it. It's actually very expensive.
try the DUSHE noodles
🙂🙂🙂
❤❤❤
We love salty food ❤️❤️❤️
@@TwoMadExplorers wow...

Shanghai is the most open city in China, where many foreign offices are headquartered. Yes, it is also known as the Oriental Little Mumbai.
Please don’t joke 😂
China is a very dangerous place to get your weight 😂😂😂
