Noticed now that you've found the PTO engaged a few times in the trucks, you should have a stern talk with guys about the dollar amount damage and wear that happens and that they'll be working for some weeks for free if they want to keep their jobs
my bread and butter when I had public works fleet contracts was replacing burnt up PTOs. Usually at least $5700 to deal with.

There's no point in telling them. It just goes through one ear and out the other. Since the equipment doesn't belong to them. They just don't care.

Not just the bucket or bin but wipe the concrete splatter and dust off the machines .The guys almost always are done early and they need to keep that equipment clean instead of just sitting around or leaving early. Or a trip to Daniel for a talkin to !
Everyone seems to think someone else will do the "little stuff" and cleanup. They're quick to sit on their lunch boxes in the shade instead of doing the busy work that's required. They never think "big picture." They should be cleaning the trucks out AND restocking them daily as well before they're allowed to go home.

You have to try and learn, if you feel really unsure then go to Ryan and let him know your thoughts. But you have to eventually stop going to Ryan daily as it’s the same work/similar. Push yourself Ray. Initiative is important, it’s what most bosses expect from their employees.

I don't think he's capable of it. He gives up way too fast. If he can't find what he's looking for or get something done right away, he goes straight to Ryan about it, and Ryan always figures it out right away. He couldn't hook the hose up to the house the other day and tells Ryan it's broken, and he grabs it and screws it right on. If you can't figure that out then at least ask Francisco or someone besides the boss.

@@TonyRule I would posit that he does take responsibility. When he screws up, he does openly admit it. Couldn't say the same for others we've seen in the past. I think we can at least give him that. I like the guy, he has a positive "can do" attitude. I think he just needs to slow down a little bit and problem solve. Use that old noggin' so to speak :)

Some of your employees can't follow more than a couple instructions at a time. Have them carry a small spiral notebook so they can write their tasks down.
It will save time, money, and frustration.

Hey I've been finishing concrete for 50 years and it's intriguing to see you go through the same issues and employee issues and hassles that I do. But we keep getting it done making that easy money!! I enjoy your videos and watch them all. I pour mostly residential stuff and tools and equipment has changed over the years but help is so hard to find. Especially someone with a drivers license and a vehicle. When our generation passes on, who is going to do this kind of profession?

Easy way to add concrete under the condenser a/c units is to nail 2-2×4s and lay them from the edge of the roof over the forms on an angle, then use a come-a-long to jack them up a few inches. We would do this all the time and never damage the unit or roofs. Just an easy way to add concrete under those.

I would venture to say that the sponsors make him read a script. It's different reading something vs. speaking naturally. kind of unavoidable in my opinion.
@Nate_E It's avoidable for people who practice, but it does take time. A good salesperson should make the pitch feel natural, and the best salespeople are the ones who really believe in what they sell and can make the pitch feel like a conversation.
