@@MegaChickenPunch Just use the same method you would use on the AR. Shim it against an AR grip (you can check the angle with a Maekiii alignment too to verify it lines up correctly). Although you can't set the shimming with the MP5 lower, you can use the left half of the shell to set the motor height after you've shimmed it against the AR grip. Once you've finished assembly you might need to set the motor height a quarter turn one way or the other, but nothing significant.

The reason why the 7.4V and 11.1V have effectively the same ROF and trigger response is because of the max current they can produce. I can't see how many C the batteries are, but I'm guessing the 7.4V was an 850mAh 20C battery (about 17 amps max current) and the 11.1v 1100mAh was probably a 15C (16.5 amps max). The motor is asking for more current and it isn't getting it. This caps the amount of torque the motor produces and negates the higher voltage's "increase" in speed. If you compare a 7.4V 20C 3000mAh LiPo to an 11.1V 20C 3000mAh LiPo the difference is VERY evident. Both can supply enough current to max out a motor's requirements on most sane springs. That means the voltage can actually play a difference, and the 11.1V will start to show faster ROF and speed.
I got a used MP5K where the previous owner had drilled out part of the damn lower frame to "ensure proper fitment between the bevel and pinion." I'm still looking for a new lower. Same guy also used mismatched the piston head and cylinder head, which caused the cylinder head to bow outwards, causing a hairline crack and leaking about 60 FPS.
I'm working on a jg mp5 and as you were starting drilling the hole I was like well that wouldn't very well help me and sure enough good guy Luke drops the knowledge lol.
I never understood why people drill holes inside their gearboxes, especially on AR's. Just put the motor in the grip and screw the motor plate on. Put the bevel into the right side of the gearbox case, hold the grip with the motor flush to the casing and adjust the motor hight. You can literally see everything. Shim the bevel to the pinion and thats it.
@@YEinherierY The TheAirsoftTech was the guy who popularized the idea and he may have actually been the one that coined the term. But yes, I do agree that it is common sense and that's why I use the half-shell method as well.
