As a South Indian---a teaspoon of Methi seeds are added to urad dal - - as it gives the golden glow to the dosai and good for health too. We do not add poha. Some people even add - a handful of cooked rice to the raw rice while grinding. We do not use only raw rice .We add half ratio of raw boiled rice too- called in hindi as--SELA chawal. Available all over South India-- different types of kaccha Sela Chawal. This gives the taste and flavor to the dosai batter. Using only raw rice does not give the real taste.
