I respect that you said you didn't want to talk bad about any company; but that foil tape hack crap is unacceptable - especially given how easy you described the fix to be.

Oh yes, I see the installs in the summer then no heat in the winter and vise versa. I have got accustomed to it. It’s more of an inconvenience than a problem as a building engineer. The installing company returns and gets its operational. Interesting design on how they meter airflow for combustion on that unit. 👊🏻🇺🇸🫡
I paid 400 bucks for the same furnace from another Furnace Installer and they did a GREAT job ... Family business .... Bigger companies just want your $$$$.
I worked for a decent name Brand company around SC for 8 months. They turned out to be commission pay based and very pushy for us to recommendations and get sales on them.... even within 6 months of installation at $10K.
@@robertk4629 yep I see so many new companies disapear every year my business is a little different I have retirement and passive income all my business money is invested and used for fun. I have almost 0 overhead. Some businesses make 5-10 mill a year but don’t take home more than 600k to a mill and it’s a lot of stress on them their family and employees. I say just do it if you enjoy it, if not then try something else or continue to work for someone without the stress..
What a wonderful installation, not. Just wait until that poor homeowner has to replace one of those ECM’s in that complex beauty in a short time. Draft inducer looks to be an ECM too, oh goodie! Thanks Big Brother.
@@Matts_Craftyoh I totally agree. Can’t clamp your meter on to check the amp draw, but I doubt installers’ like that company would have done that anyway. Put it in and run!
@@Matts_Crafty no surprise there. I’m in Chicago, it’s no better here. There’s a couple larger residential HVAC contractors around here that advertise low prices. Their work clearly reflects the quality of their low pay labor force. Fortunately I’m qualified so I’ll never need to worry about that. My new 80% furnace is setting in the carton right now. No ECM’s! Next summer I will finally install it, never got to it this year.
I wish governments would stay out of the business. And yes, I’ve seen big companies charge people outrageous money for systems and when they need fixed within a year, they’ll come out, but they won’t fix it unless somebody buys the maintenance agreement.
@@tomcoles1660 it’s go no go on the gas pressure you can’t a-just it. And they say if the pressure is off replace the valve or install a regulator in front of it. They teach you that in the class for these units. If you don’t attend you can’t even buy the low profile kit. You can tweak it very minimal but they don’t recommend it and have a label stating just that. The gas pressure was fine it was getting too much air.

$400 bucks? from 2 chucks in a truck hahahaa I dont sell thermostats for $400 let alone a installed furnace unreal....
You paid 400 bucks for what exactly? What year was this? 1991?

Was about to say, that has to be some California crap. We don't have that here in IL. Interesting none the less, thanks for sharing.
yeah others soon to follow but I hope not, they have been trying to get them off the market but no luck yet..

when an AC company has truck numbers.. Like #50 stay away way too much overhead and you pay it....

Older unit are more durable for sure, biggest thing with ECMs is improper duct work and static pressure thats what kills them.

What kind of crappy design is this furnace that you have to add some part depending on random values?

That’s a very true statement they started pushing no maintenance now warranty during Covid.
