    My family, and I, some years ago, when ACELA was fairly new, we missed our connection from D.C. to New Haven, by an hour and a half. They put us on ACELA, and my son kept saying that he couldn't really focus on the outside. We were moving that fast. We moved so fast, that we beat our original connection into New Haven by almost 2 hours. I was SHOCKED. When we called the person who was meeting us at the New Haven station, she was confused about the time that we arrived. When we told her what happened, then the confusion went away. She "Oh yeah, that what ACELA does". I can only imagine what Aveila does for you. That train is even faster!👍🏽👍🏽

    24:02 I like how you can tell that the section of track we’re on was very obviously realigned for high speed service. Not sure when it was realigned, might’ve been in the late 70’s or the mid 90’s

    • @jayydarailfaner549

      I was living in Connecticut during the time the tracks were redone. It was the 80's. Surprisingly, it didn't slow down the rail traffic on the Metro North New Haven Line section.

  • @PGHammer21A

    If you have heard of Metra's Rcetrack - or that of new Jersey Transit between Princeton and Newark further up the NEC- the section between New Carrolton and Marshall BWI is MARC's equivalent; mostly straight, and both Northeast Regionals and Acela Express trains open it up in the winter - the rear view makes it obvious - with the middle track run from New Carrolton up almost halfway to Marshall BWI.

    • @jayydarailfaner549
      @jayydarailfaner549  2 года назад

      Sometimes i wished it was quadruple tracked between New Carrollton & BWI Airport & tripple tracked between DC & New Carrollton

      @@jayydarailfaner549 Yes - it has been like that even in the 1970s, when I first rode these same rails (1979 - my only Metroliner trip - from 30th Street Station to New Carrolton -when I had to STAND due to it being overboooked - as usual).

    Last time I took the NER I did the same thing recording video out the back window - conductor got all annoyed with me because I guess there was a sign posted that I wasn't allowed into the rear vestibule. He calmed down though and when I asked he said we were doing 110 mph. It seems faster!

      What i do now is stand clear of the window stand to the side for a couple of mins so they won’t see me. Looking out the rear view should be something people can do not can’t
