At first Pennywise had the advantage in figuring out the one thing Joker's genuinely afraid of: being forgotten or ignored. However, once Joker figured out what he was up against and compartmentalized that one fear beneath *how much he wanted this clown dead*, the stakes were even. And the more the Joker laughed, the weaker Pennywise became, until Joker was able to break free of Pennywise's illusions.

The Joker once cut his own face off to make a point. In the killing joke he had a batterang lodged in his brain for half the movie. He feels pain. He just doesn't care about it. The part of his brain that processes pain doesn't work properly.

So the proven theory of why Joker can beat Pennywise is because Joker’s mind is so elaborate that Pennywise can’t identify his fears and fear is the only reason Pennywise has his power over his victims.

Damn, I don't know why but I loved that line. Sure, the Joker has always been the person who normally isn't really that serious but this line in particular really shows how much of a badass the Joker can actually be when he's going at his full potential.

I love seeing evil vs evil. Pennywise did a good job building up Joker's fear by playing on his need for attention, but what the demon hadn't counted on was his insane pain tolerance and that by beating him up, he was giving Joker the attention he craved.
It only made him laugh.

I've noticed that when Joker dies in a few continuities, he usually does it to himself. In DKR, he snaps his own neck. In Injustice, he provokes Superman into killing him. In the Arkham games, he overdosed on Titan and poisoned himself.

Children's minds and beliefs are more powerful as they still have the benefits of imagination, but as the Joker is an insane genius it would stand to reason that he could fight back, but the clown is only a puppet of It's true form and power, for Pennywise to be stopped it will take a lot more than a bundle of dynamite and a crowbar.

i think alot of people are missing the point. joker didnt win because he "doesnt have fear", he has fears (such as when everyone acted like he didnt exist or was dead). joker won because his super-sanity. he can realize when something isnt real and very quickly. he also can basically become fearless about his own fears (e.g. when being non-existent or dead, he just goes "what the hell" and then quickly realizes a joke within the fear and starts laughing and because his ego is the size of a small universe, he instantly thinks "HA! no one would forget me!! HAHAHA" and realize its just someone "playing a joke" on him. he adapts to whatever situation he's put into effortlessly

Meaning Penny had little to nothing to use against the Clown Prince of Crime.
