This looks awesome, but the longjohns were a mistake, the cloth is too thick for the scale.
I think either high quality silk or a rubbery bodysuit would have been more effective.
The poseability is decent otherwise, tolerances are trash, and the exoskeletal frame is a nightmare because it needs to be loose to not inhibit posing, but also needs to NOT fall apart/be noodly.
I feel like they failed to playtest this nearly enough. Most of these issues won’t show up until the final production is finished.
Unfortunate.
This is the perfect comment for this toy. Lack of thorough playtesting and focus group exposure could indeed be at the heart of this. It boggles my mind that no one thought these implementations might be bad ideas. Perhaps the engineers are just that engineers and not toy enthusiasts. Thank you for your thorough comment.
@@BotBenderOrinj ‘Ultimate’ Optimus Prime tried similar things, and also had limited success.
But that had *presence*, even if it wasn’t that fun.
The forearm armor on mine came apart at the seem. I had to glue the parts back. Also, the left leg popped off at the thigh swivel. I finally popped it back on and now it seems fine. But, yeah. This thing is a very nice-looking piece, but definitely has its issues. Its a shame, because Sentinel is known for good QC.
My arms hurt seeing this. The pain is real with the qc but im sure i could make it a decent diorama out of it
Oh that's a great idea! When life gives you lemons, throw that ish back at them. Wait, that's not how it goes...
@BotBenderOrinj "don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager!
Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man whose gonna burn your house down - with the lemons!"

(Love the vids)
XD
Arms, arms, arms, and more arms! I think your reviews are fun and Raw! Thanks for being a trooper and reviewing Robotech/Macross stuff! It was my fav show growing up and typically I only make one r 2 purchases a year.
Thank you for helping me make the right choices.
Have a great day; I hope your arms feel better now ;)
Thank you for watching! Love me some Robotech :) That was my jam from way back. Funny enough, the Alpha fighter's Guardian mode is called the Armo Diver in Japanese lol
Even though he looks like quite an armful I would love to give this figure a hug!!
He's been thru a lot and would appreciate it!
I remember seeing the model of him in Woolworth as a kid. Have loved him since. Unfortunately my mom couldn't afford him then and he always seems to be beyond reach for me since.
Woolworth! Havent heard of those in a while :) I dont think we have em in Cali. I remember seeing em in IL when I was young
What is crazy is idk if glue would even fix the arms because of articulation issues...
Maybe someone needs to unleash the Kragle and turn this figure into a statue.
Yeah... I'll let the new owner figure it out :)
It looks so good in photos. I have been hesitant on buying one due to the price but never considered the quality being bad! Id still love to add him to my ARMy 😂
Yeah, the photos make it appear immaculate. In hand it was quite the different story. Maybe it's just my copy tho
Arms falling off sucks but I like him regardless and I would gladly take him. Good job Bob.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the review
Man, i loved the anime (saw it as Robotech in the 80s). I had that big chunky Bernard and his Cyclone! Loved that thing!
Nice nice :) Yeah that toy was awesome. I too was intro'd to Mospeada via Robotech.
That's a shame. I was considering buying their Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors stuff. Maybe you can tighten the arm joints with a little super glue to add friction.
Oh love me some ST/RW! Im hearing from other folks that Sentinel's non-transforming stuff is fine, but I cant comment from 1st hand experience. This one really left a bad taste in my mouf :(
Oh no I was looking forward to this. Well this is probably better for my wallet. Great review dude. You have a talent for presenting things
Yeah, maybe other folks' copy is good, my mine is bleh. Folks are saying that the Moshow version is the beezneez, so perhaps I'll dip my toes in that. And thx 4 the kind words, bud!
the idea is amazing, I think I'm gonna try to watch the anime, and the figure does looks pretty good, and that helmet reminds me of the halo infinite HERMES helmet. oh, and sentinel does make some good things, just get their non-transformable stuff, like their spider man stuff, those look good. (and from what I've seen, they are good) but good video man! stay in good *arms*
The anime is good, but it's certainly dated and runs slow at times. The pacing is def 80s anime and akin to a drawn-out drama. It is hauntingly sad at times and touches upon many aspects of the human experience. If you're an old head like me, you might enjoy it.
@@BotBenderOrinj sometimes slow shows work, I'm hoping it's somewhere I can watch!
Genesis climber mospeda nostalgic AF classic
Yeah 100% :)
Thanks for always being real with us, totally agree with how you either vibe was a high end collictible or don't, I've had some third party stuff that I know someone out there would love, just not this guy, I appreciate you not keeping you true opinion at arms length 😉
Haha thanks :) yeah, always need to keep it 100% with yall. Tomorrow's review also is hit by the QC bug... and the review after that too... not sure why it's all happening at once XD
It has all the vibes of a 4th party toy. Like 95 percent awesome design but the hard 5% of crap with lack of QC, poor plastic, and pieces that JUST don't move or tab quite right. Which is a shame...
Speaking of this figure, I have his grandpa, well most of it. I've got a blue and white mospeda that transformed into a plane from like the 80s which is apparently super rare now. Shame I was a kid and didn't take proper care of it and he is missing his head lol...
Anyways sweet sweet idea for a fig and great, honest, review! Merry Christmas!
Yo it totally does! That or a factory reject that they just chose to ship. Oh, you still have the OG figure! Nice nice. It was a grail item of mine that I finally acquired in 10th grade. Unf I had to sell it when our fams fell on hard times. And Merry Christmas to you as well, bud!
Thanks for the review. I also loved ROBOTECH and the New Generation. Too bad this Cyclone Ride Armor did not turn out better. It looks awesome even if it is a little stylized. I was fortunate to get the Toynami MPC Scott and Rand back in the day. I LOVE those toys and they nailed the look of the Cyclone perfectly. I was amazed when I saw what they are now going for on the secondary market. I definitely could not justify buying them at those prices. I really hope they are re-released so more people can enjoy them and I also hope that the orginal line is completed. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for watching! Yeah, Macross and the New Generation were my fav sagas. (Sorry not sorry, Southern Cross lol). Yeah, it looks like the QC is hit or miss. Other folks' copies appear to be doing okay. What's funny is that I seem to be hit with the QC gremlins, cuz the next few toy reviews all showcase toys that QC issues with them lol. The Toynami Cyclones were pretty cool. IIRC they were pretty tall. I was pointed to a group called Moshow that is creating a stylized version of the Cyclone. While not 'authentic' to the design, the manufacturing looks top notch. Appears to be very premium. Ordered one and hope it arrive soon :)
@@BotBenderOrinj I look forward to your review of that new Cyclone. Although Southern Cross was not my favorite chapter in ROBOTECH either I loved the mech designs and sad we never got a collector version of the Hover Tank.
I feel the same way. I loved Dana's hovertank, even if it left her mostly exposed XD
Just what we needed, the black knight from Monty Python and the holy grail getting drunk and dressing up in a suit of power armor that keeps reattaching his arms!
Haha that's great XD
I forgot, my arms are not poping off!!!
It does look like a neat figure for sure, sad to see that it didn't get the due attention in design and production.
Yeah, it hurts me something deep cuz I really enjoyed the series and expected so much more XD
@@BotBenderOrinj I never saw the show myself but I do enjoy classic old school anime and cartoons, late 80s and early 90s cartoons were bonkers lol.
The hands ball joint are supposed to stay in the forearm. Its freaking tight.
But it suks that your copy has so many issues
Yeah, I almost feel like this was a factory reject they just pumped out to empty the warehouse.
Weirdly, the issue that I have are all around tabs and connecting pins on Scott,
The Rook copy I have is phenomenal, everything is perfect as it should
Interesting. Maybe they patched all the QC issues they found on Bernard
Interesting concept
Yeah, esp for its time too. Still a great concept tho, despite the QC issues mine suffers :(
O knew this toy costs an arm and a leg..but i didn't expect it would be his
😆😆 gold
In the original japenese Mospeada, Stick lost mire than Marlene, he arms were severed in an invid attack and now needs the Ride Armor as a powered exosuit of sorts to regain full mobility.
(at least thats what you can tell yourself... 😅)
Haha new lore ftw!
I always wanted a cyclone after seeing one of the original toys at Service Merchandise before Christmas as a child. Loved the anime. I need to rewatch it. I feel your pain about the arms. I am mentioning them for a reason 😜 is it Christmas?
Yeah, it's such a cool concept but part to produce flawlessly. A new company is making a very high quality stylized version but it embraces partsforming in exchange for better integrity in combined mode.
I actually still have a Legioss figure from my childhood. Can't remember if it's a KO but it's partly dicast.
Oh wow, nice! IIRC I think there two sizes, similar to the Macross Valks. Dont remember the actual scale tho.
@@BotBenderOrinj it's almost more like a model kit style and didn't transform all the way into the jet but it could get partially into the gerwalk mode. It's about 6-7" tall I think. Man, I'm gonna have to dig it out of storage to take a closer look again. Maybe I'll post a short or a video 😁
Oh interesting. Speaking of model kits, there was a Gobots branded Leader 1 model kit which was just the Legioss lol. They also had a Cy-kill kit which was the Mospeada ride armor
@@BotBenderOrinj Legioss 1 and Cyclone-Kill 😄
@@spruemarksociety 😆😆
I just got Rook’s Cyclone and I didn’t have the loose arm joints or the head swap issue. I could manage the transform issues but my problem was Rook’s stiletto heel boots killing any chance of proper balance.
Looks like your boy Stick needs to study proper pop-and-lock technique lol
Glad to hear your is good. Ah them heels! When will they give our sisters proper combat boots XD Hey def needs more practice with all the breaking lol
I have the same problems with mine, so don't blame yourself for it. The instructions were difficult to understand and even if you understand it the toy just falls apart whenever you play with it (or even just moving it). It is now only a display piece for me and I don't play with it anymore...
Oh no kidding? I feel a bit better, but also sad that yours is suffering this issue too :( Was it from the original run or was it a reissue like mine?
I guess this new version has rocket launching arms ala vintage jumbo machinders-shogun warriors.
Rocketo punchee!
Not only did he lose Marlene, but his hatred for the Invid would cost him an arm & a leg in Cyclone fuel & ammunition... Well... At least his arm... Repeatedly.
Haha the causalities of war
Got to be Fiddliest Toy of The Year 2024
Def in my top 10 of not my top 5
Gakken is still my favorite
FIRST but dude the figure looks so good and I like the amount of details and how it kinda looks like a astronaut but I like the colors but hy it looks cool in my opinion
They had good intentions but the execution was severely flawed.
My childhood 😁 wonder when they gonna do a live action?
Anyway. Too bad about the QC
A well-executed live action would be fire but I doubt Hollywood could pull it off lol
I've actually never heard of this series, the figure looks 'ARM'azing. Its always a shame when figures dont 'ARM'ount to expectations
Funny enuf, their jet's gerwalk mode is called "Armo Diver" :D
Well, as a former Sentinel Toys buyer, I have to say their qc can be a pain in the butt sometimes……
Sorta hit or miss kinda situation
Ah gotcha, thanks for letting me know. This is my first and prolly my last lol. Moshow gets my money now XD
@@BotBenderOrinj well Moshow had their qc issues too, but at least they are improving.
And yes their Mospeada Bikes really rock compared to Sentinel's version 😂
From the beginning this does really look like a mess
Yeah did not enjoy this experience 😒
i love this bike into exosuit...
Yeah, super cool concept :)
If someone was a custom toy maker they could use this figure ass mega Man
Wow, what a creative take!
Thats why one of the many reasons i don't like anime accurate figures, not because of the difficulty but only in questión of the quality, they look much better as a display, ratter than just use them to make poses.
Yeah, if it can't be done right, don't do it lol
The moshow mospeada looks way better, plus more dicast.
Yeah, highly stylized but incredible looking!
Shared the post, sucks that the QC gremlins apparently got into this one.
I appreciate that, my G! Yeah, the QC gremlins did indeed bite this one hard.
Moshow Toys are making this same character and they are top quality. Check them out if this one made you sour
Oh I saw that. It's a modern stylized version I believe?
I can't remember if it's stylized, but it's a looker
@@maui_idw7644 yeah, a very fine one at that :)
What heavy ARMS you have!
Haha shoutout to Gundam!
I apologise on behalf of your dissatisfaction orinji. It is extremely saddening usually figures of this type of brand and cost are better but this sucks im sorry dude
It's all gravy, baby. Not your fault. Maybe its just my copy? Who knows. But unf, this has turned me off to this brand. All good tho :)
Take off the arms and call it Battle Damaged. That will up the price by $50 bucks
Lemons into lemonade!
That arm quality is just… painful to say the least
It is.... I cant believe such a 'premium' toy has these types of QC issues
@ yeah my thoughts exactly
wow... never seen this before. clever idea! shame on the quality. that totally impedes the playability and satisfaction factor. i've gotten a few other japanese things before that I really want to like, but they're just too fragile to even want to. : ( might as well just be a mib or statue piece. DOOHICKEY!!!!! i love how it's all basically one thing rather than a zillion parts to take apart and put on as armor. that would also be cool, but i appreciate the engineering to make this all hinged up. the wheels and backpack make it super top heavy which is a shame. would be nice if those open up and covered the legs or something. give me samurai animated prowl sidecar vibes!
BTW My first thought on how to fix the arms might be to put a ring of glue around the peg tip. Then let it dry before putting it back together. Then it might have a better friction point on the tip to hold it in place. I've had to do that with some TF's with great success!
Yeah such a waste :( I REALLY wanted to like this too lol. Yeah, the concept of the ride armor was that it would be an all-in-one armor (the animation sequence for it is great!) but it just doesnt translate well into toy form. A new company called Moshow has created a stylized version of this that incorporates partsforming, and I think they took the right path. Im sure purists will disagree, but whatevs :)
Yeah, I was thinking of reinforcing the gap between the mushroom peg as well, but I think Im gonna leave it as-is and let the next owner figure it out :)
That's surprisingly bad, I got the VR-038L Bartley (Fuke Type) and it's nowhere this easy to pop anything off.
Glad to hear your experience is better! I feel like mine is a factory reject or something that they just decided to sell, cuz this was one of the last one's from their warehouse.
Figure so bad it breaches contracts
lol
more similar to a gundam than a transformer.
shucks for the solidity of the figure tho.
Yeah, very sad about that. Had mega high hopes for this!
