I cannot stop crying with happiness watching your reaction to this song. It's such a joy to watch another person hear this gorgeous masterpiece!
Mr Blue Sky is amongst my all time favorite songs.
Your reaction is epic. 🙌
This entire song paints a picture. At the end you literally feel the stormy clouds breaking up and nothing but blue skies left with the E.L.O. ship coasting.
Best description of the ending 👍
metaphorically maybe lol! But yes the imagery is well portrayed. I think a lot of Jeff's songs are like that. A lot of expression.
If that is true, why does it say it is lightning outside? That is what that voice says.
The vocoder voice at the end says 'please turn me over'@@deesmith3207
I bought this album when it was first released. Didn’t know what to expect. I was mesmerized through the entire album. As I watch the reactions of you young people (I’m 60 by the way) I am tickled to death to see how the reactions are as fresh as I remember mine being. Music today doesn’t compare to the elaborate production and attention to detail that Jeff Lynne envisioned in his music. Your reaction is priceless my friend. Keep ‘Em coming.
My older sister had this album. I'm pretty sure I listened to it more than she did. Seven year old me felt Mr Blue Sky in the core of my being. It's still my go-to when I need to find my happy.
I agree with you about the music we had compared to what’s produced now. I always hesitate to be just another older person (I’m 70) saying “They don’t make it like they used to!”, but I’m saying it. There’s just no comparison. Great comment 🌺✌️
Kind of reminds you how you felt when you used to listen to them. I watch way too many reactions, but I know exactly what your talking about. i don't go as far as saying they don't make them like they used to. I've been turned on to some new stuff that made me jump into a mosh pit way past my prime by watching reacts.
Totally agree.
Same here! Amazing first listen .. 🛸🛸
Mr Blue Sky was voted the "Happiest" song ever made!
This was me at 14. My generation were spoiled. Tears in my eyes watching this. Groovy.
I was 24 when this came out. Brilliant.
Seeing a man get as emotional over orchestral music like I did when this came out when I was a teenager made my year! Thanks for the reaction.
ELO was the first Live Rock band with strings...Cellos violins. They created their own sound with fantastic orchestrations and harmonies. Best band ever musically.
Mr Blue Sky voted to happiest song ever.
I'm 61 years old & elo is my favourite band I listen to them every day😂
It’s hard to believe at times that most of your generation has not heard this wonderful music that we grew up with. We took for granted that it would always be there going forward but alas it is not. We had the best music in the 70’s and 80’s. Thanks for sharing.
I really think this is the only pop song that approaches "Bohemian Rhapsody" in terms of operatic drama, complexity and variation with the same composition. Maybe "Nights in White Satin" and "Day in the Life," but it's a small sample size.
And Funeral for a Friend by Elton John.
That's a great little playlist right there
I grew up in the UK in the 60's and 70's... we used to take great music for granted, there always seemed to be another great band and more fabulous music coming out every week... happy days.
You've experienced the best song ever written. Music is not just something you hear. It's more something you feel. This tune fills me with joy and fun.
That is a taste of why the album, Out of the Blue is a masterpiece. There were some other tunes from this album that tended to get more air time than Mr. Blue Sky, when the album was first released. But in the years since, the song was featured in a few movies and it renewed people's interest. It's as popular today than ever before. It was also voted the most happy or upbeat song of all time, I believe. And it is. It's very difficult to not have a smile on your face and to move along with the tempo during this tune. Simply put, Jeff is a genius.
Absolutely! I can never be sad when I hear this song.
Right!
This was voted happiest song ever and I don’t disagree! Smiling so broadly my cheeks hurt and singing along every time I hear it since it came out. Just brilliant.
LOL, I just commented "I have always said, and I will always believe, this is the happiest song ever. Prove me wrong, what is happier? ", then read your comment. How perfect lol
All of ELO’s music is so happy. It always cheers me up😀
This has to one of the happiest sings ever. Jeff Lynne is a genius. You were definitely right to go for the studio version. It was played a lot in the UK and considered a 70s classic.
I'm 67 and.ELO songs have always been one of my favorite ! Especially this one with Strange Magic, Livin' Thing. Evil Woman oh yes!! The 70's were the best time to be a teenager.
I hope you know how much joy and light you are putting in the world with your reactions!
The 3rd side of Out of the Blue double album is perfection of what ELO was. The Concerto for a rainy day is perfectly produced, each song is unique yet part of a whole that is an emotional rollercoaster, culminating in one of the happiest song on the planet with Mr Blue Sky. You must do this album!! It's my favorite album of all time. Just a masterpiece!
I have always had a fondness for "Jungle". But lots of fans don't get it.
@@chrismoule7242 love Jungle! It was the first song I really enjoyed off OOTB when I first listened to it.
Amazing songwriting, and you would not regret going back immediately and listening to the entire concerto. It's meant to be listened to as a whole piece, telling a story along the way. Excellent reaction as always!
Didn’t you love it!!!! I’ve always loved this song so much. ❤
I just love watching people's reaction to this song for the first time. And the good thing is, you'll never get tired of hearing it.
Jeff Lynne is a musical GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved your reaction! A SECOND reaction would be WONDERFUL!
I am now 60 years old and ELO always was the greatest band of all time to me, even greater or at least as good as the Beatles and finally here is a young man recognizing the greatness of ELO. I exploded into tears again (as so often before) watching you, listening to this song. Thank you for another wonderfull moment with this music! By the way, there are quite many more songs from ELO, that would be worth listening to. Mr. Blue Sky is just one fantastic song in an ocean of ELO gems.
How about Ticket to the moon oder Twenty first Century man oder Last train to London or steppin out or fire on high or tightrope or or or or.... I would higlhy apreciate you doing more from my favorite band. But thank you for this.
He's done several ELO songs, including Last Train to London.
I was blessed to see ELO perform live in Milwaukee, WI when this album first came out in 1978. An amazing concert complete with a state-of-the-art laser light show to complement their stage performance. Best concert I ever attended, just happened to be my very first at 17 years of age. Jeff Lynne is an absolute genius in the entertainment music industry.
This song got renewed interest when it was the opening song of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, with young Groot dancing amidst a monstrous battle.
Loved the reaction... it's impssible to listen to this song and not have a huge happy grin.
You were so mesmerized by the last instrumental part of the song that you didn’t recognize the “robotic voice” at the end (actually made with a vocoder) says “Please Turn Me Over”. Remember most of us when this was released had it as a double album so to hear side 4 we had to flip the album over on the record player
Yes, Jeff was apparently sent one of the first Vocoders to try - they were the first group to feature one in a mainstream hit!
This just always made.me smile ❤
Mr. Blue Sky has THE best outro of any rock and roll song! Ever!
ELO is so painfully underrated in the pantheon of rock and roll. So far ahead of the game. My guess as to why it wasn't more popular is due to disco being a thing during their most prolific moment in music.
This song gives me a very Beatles-esque feel to begin with, and then blows me away with the arrangement and orchestration. Jeff Lynne is a musical genius, and any of his work is worthy of a reaction IMHO.
ELO such talent ...and this is the most joyous song ever xx
🇬🇧 Are they amazing or what? Lead singer/songwriter/producer, Jeff Lynn is a GENIUS plain and simple. 💕🩵🎶🎼🌟
When John Lennon was asked which musical direction the Beatles would have taken, had the not split up, he said that they "would probably ended up sounding like ELO".
Great reaction.
"What are they doing?" Jeff depicting the clouds clearing and the sun shining
The "Please Turn Me Over" comes from the album. This is the last track of side 3 (a full Concerto) and needs you to play side 4.
Pretty much the happiest song ever. It is impossible to listen to this without a big grin. If you are having a bad day, just put this on repeat a couple of times and things start getting better right away.
Do a reaction of Turn to Stone. Watch the Wembly concert version. Look at the size of that crowd. No one is sitting. Look at the joy on their faces as they are singing along with the songs that they love.
I love this guy's reaction. It is exactly how I feel because the music is brilliant and it's happy we don't hear stuff like this today I'm 74 years old and I miss intelligent, creative, beautiful lyrics, enchanting melodies and complex themes that makes you feel something. This is a brilliant brilliant group of musicians that should've gotten much more recognition than they ever did
I went to see them in concert when i was young...ok 20s...was the most incredible night...this song is my favorite but sweet talkin woman is big also...concerts used to be affordable...check out other songs from them...enjoying your beegees videos also...they were beyond incredible...it's so fun watching you all enjoy the music I grew up with...it was really the best time for music...and cars...
Yep - went to see them with my wife in 1982 in B'ham - bloody cold but we loved it.
"what are they doing???" They're going full orchestral pop, sonic symphonic Rock! Got to be my favorite part when ELO shines ❤
I have always said, and I will always believe, this is the happiest song ever. Prove me wrong, what is happier?
That's what I've always said. Some people think it's Queen's Don't Stop Me Now but, nope, it's Mr. Blue Sky.
Walking On Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves is immensely happy as well
This is my cheer up song when I'm feeling low. I watch the Live at Wembley 2017 version. It's just so joyful. All the band and the crowd were having such a great time. I saw them in April 2018. Happy Days!
Saw them in 1979 at Celebrity Theatre in Phx. Wish I appreciated them like I do now. Jeff Lynn is amazing !
My favorite group in the eighties. Love all of their music❣️❣️❣️
As soon as I don’t see a cloud in the sky in Britain this is the first and only song I want to listen too! One of the only songs where us Brits get to sing about the weather as well as talk about it! I’m so thankful my Mum introduced me to this from such a young age. ❤️
It really is fantastic to see someone young appreciating my type of music. I'm 64 by the way.
I always have to listen to this exceptional song from start to finish because the end takes this song to another level and a half.......pure brilliance.
ELO was a trailblazer on so many levels. Melding a driving rock pulse with the orchestral elegance. So grateful that I was able to attend many of their concerts.
This song never gets old! It is everlasting. It's like it's covering life itself.
Your expressions and when you left the chair and everything... it cracked me up! 🤣 And at the end of the song when I saw you got a serious face it brought tears to my eyes... you really felt this. I needed this. Thank you for one of the absolutely purest reactionvideos I've seen. Bless you! Love from Sweden ❤️
Such a beautiful composition. I hear the Beatles all over it in a good way of course.
Indeed.
Mr. Blue Sky should have done better on the charts, I agree, but it had a lot of worthy competition when it was released. It was an awesome time for a music loving teenager, like myself, to exist. Just a few of the singles also released in January 1978: "Le Freak" (Chic), "Reminiscing" (Little River Band), "Kiss You All Over" (Exile), and "Hopelessly Devoted to You" (Olivia Newton-John) from the blockbuster hit movie "Grease." The Moody Blues was ahead of ELO with their inclusion of orchestral music to their songs in the late 1960's. The Beatles also included orchestral sounds in some of their music, whom Jeff Lynne has a huge appreciation for. I am so glad you reacted to this!
Yes, ELO were heavily influenced by The Beatles album Sgt. Pepper and the Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Beach Boys album Pet Sounds. Some other early symphonic rock songs are Nights In White Satin by The Moody Blue and A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum. Pink Floyd and Yes also progressed from there along with ELO.
Simply magical! Jeff Lynne is the lead singer/songwriter & guitarist - just insane. He is actually still singing too!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
ELO was so unique and just great!!!
Mr Blue Sky takes me right back to being a young teenager. Life at home was pretty awful, so to escape the drama I ran a power cable from the house to the garden shed so I could play my records and escape the madness. Mr Blue Sky was played many, many times, and I still enjoy it to this day. I think the paper sleeve was blue sky and the single itself was also blue. Your reaction on hearing it is the same as mine was all those years ago. Really enjoying your reactions. Love from the UK.
I can relate, I had a portable turntable with 2 folding speakers attached to it, I would go to the basement to escape my life and get lost in music for a bit. Hope things are better for you now ✌🏼
its a joy to see you having so much fun listening to this!
Favourite song of all time and has been since it came out when I was 6yrs old. Got to see them about 5 yrs ago and it was as brilliant as I hoped it would be
Listening to a ELO song is like having a bag of your favorite little assorted candies all extremely different from each other . Reaching into the bag and savoring one at a time :)
ELO's Mr Blue Sky is one of my all time favourite tracks... It's upbeat for the most part... But right at the end... The song mellows right down... And almost puts you into a trance of calming musical waves... I adore listening to ELO... They've made some amazing music over the years... If i had a choice of only one concert to attend before i died... An ELO concert would be hands down my number one choice... They're all wonderful artists and musicians.
Such a great composition about a blue sky!! Hello Beethoven!!
He would have loved it, I am sure.
"Out of the Blue" is a masterpiece. The concert tour for "Out of the Blue" also brought much attention to this absolutely brilliant band.
Greatest reaction I’ve seen to this song! Way to go!
The happiest song in the world
that song is one i play when i need an emotional lift. i get to see them live in August
The live Wembley or bust concert is the way to react to ELO..Never sounded better.
Turn to Stone is amazing. Please react 😊
I agree...go to Live at Wimberley!! If you want to see masters at work.
Very powerful song, catchy and also refreshing, the alternate voices are astonishing. Everything is top notch.
One of the all time great songs, period.
This song actually charted again along with the soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It was the opening song during the fight with huge alien.
This a great song to play while walking through the park on a hot summers day.
ELO always sounds to me like what The Beatles might have been up to if they'd stuck together.
Great reaction to a great song well done I'm still 😊
PURE HAPPINESS 🌈☀️🌤️ 🌞🌻🍃🍂🍁
TIGHTROPE 🙏🏻 PULEAZE!
Love this song too! ELO has many of amazing songs.... Grateful I grew up with this kind of music. LJ
I'm 52. I can't remember a time in my life without this song in it.
If you'd like another song to make you grin ear to ear, try Fishermans Blues by the Waterboys. majestic.
The happiest song on earth!!!
Perfect song to go to work after. Enjoy
A true GREAT song
I couldn’t click on this fast enough! ELO will blow your mind🤯
…….and this is why we love Jeff Lynne & E.L.O
Can you tell he loved the Beatles ! Feel the influence and structure of this track. ❤
“Here comes the Sun” 🌞
Moody Blues has symphonic rock ❤
Im 58 now and grew up in a musical family on a diet of classical, big bands and jazz (thanks Mum and Dad). While this taught me to appreciate rich and subtle sounds, they were NOT fans of pop music and it was my uncle that introduced me to The Beatles and the Electric Light Orchestra as my path into modern sounds..
I grew up listening to ELO almost non-stop (most pop music failed to match its intricacy) and I still love symphonic rock. Seeing someone experiencing ELO for the first time is simply joyous.
Happiest song every written. Really! Someone did a survey.
ELO 1974 Album ELDORADO is pure Symphonic Rock and progressive Rock. Have a listen! Fantastic album.
Only a British group could make a song that good about weather.
You're reaction is priceless 👍
Saw them at the Hollywood bowl in 2016. Awesome concert.
This should be what a masterpiece is. It's so beautiful, so well built and thought out. Jeff is a genius.
By the way, what a great and funny reaction! Thank you!
Regards from Chile.
Your reactions are always heart felt and make me cry with joy .Please keep going 😎
Yes, this song is genius, and is one of my all-time favorites too! To answer your question about symphonic rock, there is the Moody Blues, particularly the album "Days of Future Passed," which was recorded with an orchestra, and which includes the huge hit, "Nights In White Satin." I think you've reacted to that, but you should check out that whole album too.
Baby Groot is now my visual of this. BTW the four klangs is Bev hitting a wall mounted fire extinguisher with his drumstick.
Jeff Lynne, musical genius, probably the greatest feel good track ever
Thank you for taking my request after 12 months requesting it. This group.... I know you fell in love with.... were inspired by the Beatles and Yes. You might say this album is a tribute to The Beatles and the transitions are tribute to Yes who at the time were doing some really non-commercial incredible things in music with their songs and albums....ELO took the themes of Yes and The Beatles and put all that creativity in this album that was easy for minds of the listener to follow(unlike Yes) and made the lyrics very deep (like "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles) which suggest a Cosmic Spiritual Psychedelic trip to the Stars and this concept album became a critically acclaimed No.1 album with several top ten Billboard hits. The composer/songwriter/arranger/producer of Jeff Lynn is genius!!! He is The Man. And back in the 70's He was The Man in the Age of Disco and Pop music...he was The Man. I have this album and play it at least 12 to 15 times a year....It stays playing for weeks on repeat on my stereo.Enjoy the ride, ELO are among the gods of Rock n' Roll and are one of my all-time favorite bands. Jeff Lynn is one of my all-time favorite composer/songwriter in music. Love him. Thanks again.
My favorite ELO song! You think a little Beatles influenced? Earliest symphonic rock? Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues.
If you're having a less than perfect day, I defy you to listen to this song and tell me your day isn't just a little bit better. Even if just for the moment. 😁
You need to do the entire "Out of The Blue" album. It's Jeff Lynne at the height of his writing and producing powers. One of the best double albums ever and, dare I say, the best produced.
Happy, exuberant, life affirming, wonderfulness. And your reaction…. You lucky, lucky bastard, to get to hear this for the first time 😊 Mine was 45years ago aged 13
I love watching you're reactions because music should be a visceral experience and sometimes you get it spot on.
One of my favorite songs. You can’t help but feel happy here.
Got the album for my 16th birthday - what a rush. Loved it then and love it now. Holding the double album, choosing the record, sliding it out of the sleeve, flipping to the side, placing it on the deck, choosing the track and lowering the needle...... What a time
As you started to listen to this masterpiece I couldn't help but feel so envious of you that you get to hear it for the first time!
Certainly was a great time to be young! You’ve heard the orchestrate … easy when you have two cellos in the band!
