My Gran taught me to dampen my eyeshadow brush when I was first learning makeup. My Gran wore full makeup, dresses and heels until she was 103. She was fabulous and always told me to dress up to please myself She was full of hilarious drama and loved Shakespeare. I miss her every day.
What an inspiring woman! My grandmother was a young woman during the “Greatest Generation” (1940’s) She took great pride in her appearance and she was always well groomed. She never left the house with being nicely dressed and having her makeup beautifully applied. My grandmother was also an interesting character. In her seventies, she visited the Holy Land, went on an Alaskan cruise, and learned to paint by watching Bob Ross! (She was quite the talented artist, having been a beautician most of her life.) You were truly blessed to have a role model like your Gran. She sounds like she could have been a model for the “Golden Girls” TV show! I wish I could have met her myself. I would love to be like that at 103! I’m sorry for your loss. I’m sure her amazing spirit lives on in you! Thank you for sharing. ❤
Another thing you can do is to hold a tissue or toilet paper under your eyes with one hand while applying shadow with the other. Like an eyeshadow shield for those who don't want to buy shield. I do this sometimes when I'm using a darker shadow and already did my foundation.
USEFUL! THANKS! BTW thank you for keeping those of us with mature skin in mind. So many of these youngsters posting on RUclips might have beautiful looks......for a 26 year old. We need to adapt it to our needs. So thank you very much from us old ladies out here. (For the record I am 57 and already showing signs of aging. No skincare until I was in my late 40s. I am sure that a skincare routine would have bought a few more years. Readers take note. You are never too young for a skincare routine. It will delay the signs of aging later down the road.)
Yep, Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen. Do your skin a solid and protect as you go rather than trying to fix it later. Tip: 1/2 tsp for your face, neck, and décolletage. Less will not give you the spf percentage printed on the package and more is just a waste.
I also use the tape trick when removing glitter from the lid at the end of the day. It reduces the amount of glitter that can possibly get in your eye when taking your makeup off.
That tape trick is the bomb 💣 I always do my face first and I must say that the brush QUALITY is #1 I’ve learned. Some horrible brushes just chew at shadow and drop it all over plus make a mess of a palette.
That Scotch tape and Eye shield didn't even think of that. I am getting to the point of mature skin so extra powder does not work for me. I too am a creature of habit and put my base on first. I've been trying to get better at that but you know.. 😂
I can be in the most awful mood, aching all over from my illness, but your videos make me feel better! You are so positive and joyful, so thank you so very much much!!!
Sometimes I do that 1:15 with powder, but most of the times I grab my clean Sigma E40 brush and loosely brush the eyeshadow off. By loosely I mean softly, I barely touch my skin. The eyeshadow is not exactly over my skin but on the peach fuzz, which I don't have a lot of but there's still some tiny invisible hairs which is where the fallout lands, so by being extra gentle with a very fluffy brush it's easy to swipe it away. I don't need to do any additional corrections, it leaves no trace 👌
I used to always use eyeshadow shields and loved how they would also help a me keep a nice crisp line on the edge of my eyeshadow that lifted my eyes more. BUUUUT a then I started using under eye masks instead. I apply them under my eyes, do my eye makeup while they sit, and they come up on the sides so they also help me have a nice line for my eyeshadow but it’s softer than what the eyeshadow shields created, which I like. Then I remove the under eye masks and have really hydrated, de-puffed under eyes ready for concealer! I definitely recommend this if you have mature and/or dry under eyes, it’s helped me sooooo much! I used to never do masks because I just never had the extra time to sit and just let the mask do it’s thing. But doing it while I’m doing my eyeshadow and brows works out great! My favorite under eye masks for this are the ones that have the stuff on the part that goes on your under eyes and will stick, and the back that is on the outside doesn’t have anything, that way they’re staying in place and not sliding around while I’m sitting up doing my eyeshadow
It’s just easier to do the eyes first. But since I’m legally blind I sometimes get too much product on my brush or actually touch the wrong part of my face/eye. I keep q-tips on my makeup table and a jar of eye cream. When I’m finished with my eyes I take the q-tip and put some eye cream on it and take it under my eyes. Works like a charm.
The sponge tip, dampened with water or setting spray, or (my favorite) rosewater spray, is the way to go! Especially with shimmery shadows and duochromes (I don't use glitter or metallic shadows.) And ladies, when a manufacturer includes a sponge-tip applicators in the palette, they're giving you what they feel is the best way to apply it.
you were the first one who really taught me to do my eyes. I love it more. I don't like using the baking method. TOO much powder can make it cakey. However, thanks for the tips. 😜
Thanks for sharing the makeup sponge tip for removing shadow fallout, I knew about the others, but this will help when my skin is more dry in the colder weather, and I don't use powder as much.

I used to make my own eyeshadow shields with Light Days panty liner. I had so many (still finding them 😄) after my Radical Hysterectomy for Ovarian cysts and Endometriosis about 8 years ago. LOL It works though.
I have just recently started doing my eyes first then my foundation. It really does work better. In the past I would just use a clean makeup brush to dust off any fallout from the eyeshadow.
Half of the hair in my eyebrows is blonde and the other brunette, meaning my eyebrows seem sparser than they are. I use the comb in hair dye for men's beards. Works a treat. You do have to be careful not to slop it all over and follow the timing, but now I have eyebrows without having to use a pencil and work at it everyday. One of my blonde DD's does it too.

Hello, Zabrena! I was wondering if you would consider doing a video for contouring problem area’s? For instance, I’m beginning to see the faintest double chin and the start of jowls. Would you consider attempting a tutorial on selective contouring? 🙏❤️😘
Another great video! thanks for your tips. Very helpful! 💜 I also have oily/combo skin with breakouts in my early 40s, so dealing with fine lines and cakiness has been my bane! 😆 A trick I also use that I'm not sure if you've mentioned before is to use the teeniest, tiniest amount of primer on a pointed cotton swab to gently remove things like eyeliner mistakes without being too harsh on the skin. I haven't exactly tried it with eyeshadow fallout, so I'll have to see if it works, alongside your tips!
Hey Zabrena! I always try a powdery shadow that seems to have lots of fallout three or four different ways: with primer, with a brush, with a sponge-tip applicators and with my fingertip. I'll also try it with setting spray , or water, or rosewater spray, on the brush. If it still has too much fallout, I take a toothpick and break it up in the palette and throw it away. I don't want to be tempted to try it again after I've forgotten how lousy it is. I spend too much time and effort on undereyes concealer, etc. to try the tape trick, but it seems to work fine for those with relatively unlined, increased undereyes. Thanks for the focused video!
What a great tip with the tape. I'm like Lorraine; I keep forgetting to do my eyes first, but I do tap off excess shadow from my brushes before applying, and I rarely have fall out. But it does happen, and then I'm always so bummed. Imagine definitely remember the tape method now, unless i can get eyes before face into my habits before that 😁

Hi Zabrena! I'm 54 (55 in December!) and I have a terrible time with lipstick, gloss and liner bleeding in the corners of my lips. I've tried not using those products in the corners but to be honest it looks "off", like there is a definite area where lipstick is missing. I'll be willing to forgo lipgloss if I have to but never lipstick or liner! Can anything help me?
I use clear lipstick liner around the outside of my lips to keep things right where they are supposed to be. Has worked well so far. The brand I have been using is Maybelline.
I've tried all these for super glittery fallout and it doesn't get all of it its incredibly frustrating. I love glittery shades but cannot stand fallout. 😫 anyone have any other suggestions?
I think there should be two different kind of women on this planet. Those who do their eye makeup before foundation/ concealer and those who do it after 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏽
Even though I almost always apply my eyeshadow first, I still occasionally apply it after. The powder application prior to application can also keep accidentally blending too far past your eyebrows when applied in an upward angle 📐 Also, applying a light colored eyeshadow can correct a bad blend, too. The trick is to find a hydrating powder which won’t accentuate the fine lines. 😉❤️

I would always be in a rush and after getting into daylight I would just wonder why I would look more raccoonish some days lol. So grateful for RUclips lol

Have you tried lipstick 💄 primer?
I use clear lipstick liner around the outside of my lips to keep things right where they are supposed to be. Has worked well so far. The brand I have been using is Maybelline.
Fan brush "flicks" off eye shadow excess easily for me.
I can’t do my eyeshadow first. It just doesn’t work for me. I have been doing base makeup first for 40 years. 😂
To be fair, it does look likes if it's a shimmery eyeshadow that has fall out. Gives the face a nice little sparkle
Except when the glitters get into the fine lines that I didn’t even know where there! Then, I’m totally panicking! 😱😭
I've tried all these for super glittery fallout and it doesn't get all of it its incredibly frustrating. I love glittery shades but cannot stand fallout. 😫 anyone have any other suggestions?

How to fixed a fallout your eyeshadows?
🦋✨
🥰🥰🥰🥰
I think there should be two different kind of women on this planet. Those who do their eye makeup before foundation/ concealer and those who do it after 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏽
I’m a do your eyeshadow before foundation person.
Even though I almost always apply my eyeshadow first, I still occasionally apply it after. The powder application prior to application can also keep accidentally blending too far past your eyebrows when applied in an upward angle 📐
Also, applying a light colored eyeshadow can correct a bad blend, too. The trick is to find a hydrating powder which won’t accentuate the fine lines. 😉❤️
I don’t remember exactly when I changed, I used to do my face first, but years ago, I changed and now I can’t even image not doing my eyes first.
I'm a foundation first girl 😁
@@elisabetamicske5717 me too lol. I don’t feel it looks right the other way personally
😁👍❣️
will it work with duct tape ? ; D ouchie
Thank you for the amazing tips!
