    Beautiful pictures. I really want to go to the spot you went to. I’m staying at lake Garda next week and was planning to ride out there but I didn’t realise how difficult it was to enter. The hotels are so pricy too. Such a shame.

      Yeah, for sure Steven, it's a typical resort village situation up there, and peak season (either summer or winter) is going to be pretty pricy. You can drive up early in the morning though, so you could stay in the valley and just wake up early, but you'll still have to leave your car in Compatch and walk in to the shot since no cars are ever allowed to park along that stretch (at least not legally, so you're risking a pretty hefty ticket -- I learned this the hard way with a $400 ticket, although the first time my shot sold I made that money back :) ... The walk from a legal parking spot in town will take you about an hour to get to the shooting area so plan accordingly.

    Drew - I really appreciate the almost surgical dissection of how you set up these images - the level of detail about how you focused - opening the lens as far as it can - the high ISO to get as much light in to nail the focus - etc. - huge help the next time I go out to get that dead sharp image.
    And yes - photographers - like you - do use "ethereal". Thanks

    Hi Drew, so sad, your video is absolutely underrated....I like it. lot!very helpful. one question: can you tell me more or less exactly where this spot is where in the morning were hanging around so many people? may be GPS data?

      Thanks Christian. I'm a new channel, and my videos don't get many views yet, but that's ok -- YOU saw it and liked it, so that's good enough for me :) ... the GPS coordinates for the exact spot we stood are 46.552606, 11.657896 Hope that helps!

      Sure André! The GPS coordinates for the exact spot we stood for the first shot are 46.552606, 11.657896 just paste those coordinates into Google Maps and it'll get you right there, or click this link -> bit.ly/2FvCBow

    So if I use the road before 9am, do I have to stay there until it opens up again at 5pm? Or am I able to drive back on that road without getting a fine in the 9-5 time frame? So confusing!

    • @drewcain
      @drewcain  3 года назад

      You can drive down whenever you want, you're not trapped there until 5 :) ... They just don't let anyone without a reservation up through the gate between those hours. And yes, it's confusing. Hopefully that helps.

    Hey there, I really enjoyed your video. I am going to go there in the next couple of days and I have a question for you.. since I cant really afford to sleep in any of the Hotels up there, I wanted to know, where you parked.. since I have a little puppy and she is only allowed to walk 25 minutes tops... I would be very grateful if you answer, since you said something about 4km of walking :-) Best regards!

    • @drewcain
      @drewcain  4 года назад

      Hey Michael. This is going to be really tricky for you because you're not allowed to park anywhere along the little road that leads to the spot (and they patrol it regularly and give out HUGE parking tickets). The closest you can park if you're not staying anywhere in town is near the gondola, and that's a good 45min to an hour walk to get to the spot. Also, you need to get up the road before 9am if you're not staying up there because at 9 they close the road coming up to town to anyone who doesn't have a reservation. Obviously if you're shooting sunrise you'll be up there in plenty of time, but if you're hoping for sunset, you'll need to be up before 9am and then find a place to park for the day while you wait. Lots of great hiking up there, so there's not shortage of stuff to do. Hope that helps, and good luck!

      @@danieledilonardo4255 I'm using the Nikon WR-10 Remote, which is yes, amazingly tiny, and I love that. It does require the extra receiver attached to the front of the camera, but in all a fantastic little remote if all you need to do is trigger the shutter.
