He's a complex guy. On the one hand I love the guy. He knew what it took to keep his family on top - which is pretty much the point of the show. He's like a mob boss. The behind-the-scenes master of Westeros. Very strategic and not the kind of guy you'd ever want to really cross but on a personal level a somewhat decent guy as he showed with Arya at Harrenhall. But on the other hand he's an asshole to Tyrion and therefore deserved that crossbow shot.
ISpitHotFiyaa Those Harrenhal scenes just made me care for him, not as I do for characters like Tyrion and Arya, but it made him more human and you got the feeling that he was disappointed in his three children. I guess the Harrenhal scenes just humanised him for me.
It's like in season one, I think there was a scene where Cersei and Robert are talking, and it goes something like Robert asking "Did you ever love me?" and Cersei replying with something like "I did, I was excited blah blah but then on our wedding night you called out Lyanna." It doesn't make me love her but it makes you feel for her.
I'm not saying that redeems them, but for me it kinda gives some sort of depth.
I don't know why, but I really like Charles Dance/Tywin. He kinda reminds me of a medieval Hans Gruber.

You can't play your character with conviction, if you can't understand where your character is coming from and what motivates them. I'm sure he would never condone that kind of behavior today, but he is intelligent enough to understand that in that alternate world, what tywin did was 100% necessary. One of his lines from the show was perfect where he basically said what is so horrible about killing a few people at dinner when the action will save thousands from dying in battle. Was not his exact words but definitely his intent
Of course Tywin would talk about how it affected the Lannisters instead of the Wedding itself. ;P

Hm, so that's why Charles play Tywin. Because he thinks like Tywin, interesting.
I think Charls is being more meadival perspected than justifying his character. He understands how meadival society (especially for nobles) was, and what (also why) kind of standards Tywin has in that particular society.
Tywin isn't a villian at all, nor is he particularly good either... He's neutral and fights for his cause - his family name and legacy. He is strong but he has done no actual wrong. Just cause he is good at his game doesn't mean he is a bad person. Arya has been as brutal as tywin herself. Don't pick sides when it comes to fair judgement, people.

Okay look at it this way. The GoT logo has four sigils on its corners. The Lannister Lion, the Stark Dire Wolf, the Targeryan Dragon and the Baratheon Stag. Gendry did not die. He's the last of the Baratheon line. He will come back.

I didn't know it was coming, I haven't read the books yet. As soon as I heard the Lannister song I was like "Wait......what? Is that the Lannister song?.......Oh shiiiiI"
I picked up the little warning signs. The great doors being closed, the orchestra playing this sad song on a wedding (didn't realize it was the Lannister song at the time O_o) then she notices that lord Bolton is a full set of armour under his cloak. Though at first I thought she was trying to seduce him when she first touched his arm. When that crazy old lord started his speech, I had a bad feeling. Nice detail: the old lord's childbride was really innocent because she acted all surprised and horrified while he totally enjoyed it. She hid under the table which was convenient for mother Stark to pick her up and threaten to slash her throat. Mother Stark picked out the one innocent in the whole house and murdered her in a meaningless gesture of revenge. Then again, the old lord might have been bluffing so I can understand that she killed the girl anyway.
I knew it was coming (book reader!) but what you see in your mind while reading versus what you see unfolding on your screen are two very different things.

Naturally he/she means the wedding between of Margaery Tyrell and Joffrey Baratheron (Lannister).
In my opinion, the most shocking _episode 9_ is still the one from the first season. Once you know what type of show you're watching, the red wedding is not that surprising. I didn't read the books because I didn't want to get spoiled, but I saw that coming a few episodes before it actually happened.
I could see the red wedding coming, but the last few chapters of book five really got to me. Especially that shock in the epilogue!
Brynden Tully There's some stuff coming up that could be pretty shocking to some people. The end of this season is going to blow some people's minds.

I don't think Tywin was the "bad guy" in the situation, because the Boltons and Freys came up with it and he just had to go along, or else lose his son and most likely the war.
Game of Thrones was the only book/show to move me! The death of Robb was horrific!

It's a SHAME! they killed Talisa... FIRST they introduce the WRONG woman (Jeyne Westerling is the REAL name of his wife) and THEN she gets killed????!!!! They totall left out the part where Jeyne is held hostage AFTER the red wedding -.-
Well if it wasn't for Martin she would have been Jeyne. They changed her name to Talisa because the character was so different that Martin had to ask the writers to change her name.
I'm still not entirely sure why they decided to go with an entirely different storyline for Robb.

Elrond McBong It works better for the TV storyline and it also affects viewers more. In the books we dont get any Robb POVs, we got to see him more with his wife in the show and viewers got more emotionally connected with him. Jeyne pool isnt that significant and changing her doesnt affect the story at all. If it was like the books we would of barely seen Robb and Talisa in season 2 and the red wedding wouldnt of come across as shocking as it ended up being.

ClusterzR In the books we also don't see Theon's torture. We learn about it in a later book, just like we learn about what happens to Robb in a later book.
They had the story. And it would have worked for TV. I think the reason for the change was a money one. Talisa only required the casting of 1 person. Jeyne would have required the casting of her mother, and likely also her father.
I frankly don't agree with the change much because I think it made Robb look like an ass. Keeping his mother prisoner when he himself made an even stupider move. Deserving of what the Freys did to him as he didn't care he was breaking the Frey alliance (he even admits it).

I wish there were more Natalia Tena (plays Osha) interviews out there. She's the most beautiful lady on the show in my opinion (Alicia Clarke is definitely close). I love wild girls, and she cleans up so well. Oona Chaplin's howl is adorable.
