    Lovely to see this video and very well explained. However, I think there needs to be some mention of posture too because it's very easy for the chest cavity to collapse during these exercises especially if you're learning on video and noone is there to help.

    Thanks for these useful videos. But perception of exact sounds being produced can not be there in videos so could you please write those words being phonated ! Please 🙏

      The sounds are just some of the 44 phonemes of English. Some consonantal phonemes (like Ffff, Zzzz and Shhh) and some vowel phonemes (like ahhh, ohhhh and oooo). Hope this helps :)

    Thanks so much for these exercises. I have a question: Does singing through a straw and singing through a straw into water also help with vocal cord paralysis? Thanks so much.

    Do lip trills also help with vocal fold closure?

    • @DE-to4sd
      @DE-to4sd Год назад +1

      Lip trills can help with vocal closure for voicing, in the sense it aims to make voicing easier and with less effort/strain. Trills also aim to help coordinate breathing (the source/origins of the sound) and the actual vibrations of the vocal folds.
      Trills work by making a narrowing in the vocal tract (the path air and sound travel). This narrowing makes some of the pressure bounce back down the vocal tract. This pressure helps to 'massage' the vocal folds. The back-pressure helps the vocal folds to vibrate with less effort and strain, whilst coordinating breathing. Trills are often paired with pitch changes and breathing changes (fast, slow, rhythmic trills). The narrowing I referred to creates a semi-occluded vocal tract (SOVT) if you wanted to do some more research. I would suggest checking out ASHA Voice Disorders.
      Depending on your unique case and what you mean by closure (e.g., paralysis, swallowing) a medical doctor and a speechie might be helpful. As always, don't believe a rando on the interwebs, but I hope my lil summary helped :)
      - Source ASHA, and I'm training to be a speechie.

    I'm a classical singing student and I've had a lot of trouble with my support, mainly because I have been taught to do this "unnaturally" so I was suggested to try this. How much should I do it and for how long?

      Pksferdinand D my teacher practices breathing everyday, you dont need to everyday it depends on you but often enough

      Look into MDH Breathing Coordination. Best thing I've ever found, changed both my and my students' lives to finally understand what a natural breath support means. :)

    These videos make me low emotional and mentally I don't think they're beneficial to anyone you get nothing for it but a worse health condition I've noticed watch them at your own risk
