Great video! I have the same car as you and will be installing the Sharkwerks X Pipe on it before I take it out in the spring. I was nervous about those bolts but the C clamp technique seems like it worked well and I will give it a try!
Great video. I also had to remove studs on the cats. I used a c clamp and under pressure and used a handheld propane torch and heated around the base of the stud on the flange itself. Came out easily. Nice work sir!
I bought the same X pipe and am planning to install it this weekend. I wasn't anticipating the issue with the cat converter bolts. I'm praying I don't have that issue because I don't have a lift. Just using jack stands. If those bolts are jammed/stripped it will be tough.
Good luck, maybe you'll luck out. I had to remove the exhaust on my 996 to do the Gundo hack and had no problem with any of the fasteners. Let us know how you make out.
Great upgrade and noticeable! Last video I watched from you was the 997-shifter upgrade, that I follow step by step and was able to install on my 99- 996 cabrio. That is an awesome looking and now sounding car!! Did you sell the 996? Anyways, great content.
Great video and helpful...even for a 997.2. Most curious about how you like your MaxJax? I have been looking at them for a while as I only have 9' ceilings.
The MaxJax is great. Next best thing to a full size lift if you have to work under the vehicle. If you do get one, you have to get a reclining creeper. The position in the creeper is excellent for the height of the lift. You can work comfortably and with full range of motion. Without one, it would be awkward to work at that height imo.
life would have been so easy for you doing this job if you had taken the extra 10mins to removes all the heat shields, access to everything would have made it so easy, I just used a G clamp hit it with a hammer on every bolt and replaced them, I wasn't on a ramp on the floor easy to do, with the heatshields out the way, no need for Vice set up :-), informative video made it look harder than what it was tho, ,I kept saying to myself, Remove the heat shields 🙂
Actually not true. What made the job more difficult were the rusted/seized fasteners. Regardless of whether the heat shields were in or out, the fasteners needed to be worked on using various time consuming methods.
No drone at all. The muffler delete doesn't really add much additional noise, so no issue at all with neighbors. You'll hear it more at higher revs and may want it to be louder...

Nice! Where there's a will, there's a way...
This is great content. Thank you for sharing the various aspects of TB cleaning, center muffler replacement and spark plug replacement.

Thanks! Yes the 996 was sold on Bring A Trailer in May. I loved the car but had to make room for the new one. Lots of respect for the 996 generation!

Well done. Does it drone at highway speeds?
No, not at all
@PIFDIY Thanks, Great video!
Any drone issues? Any issues with neighbour noise lol😅
