- Learn how to fly the PMDG 777-300ER for MSFS along with me in this full flight lesson with a real world 777 pilot! We take you through everything you need to know to fly almost any flight realistically, from setting the aircraft up from cold and dark to shutting it down at the other end. This tutorial has something for everyone - it's simple enough for beginner flight simmers and detailed enough that even the most seasoned flight simmer will learn something new. Unlike previous tutorials in the series, we also cover certain non-normal procedures and flows, making this the most detailed tutorial I've produced to date!
If you'd like to fly along as you watch, see below for links to the flight plan and the sceneries we used.
There are also bookmarks to allow you to jump to a particular section, although I do recommend you watch the whole thing before jumping about so as not to miss anything.

This is the one you need to watch folks, rest is noise
Agreed and I've Subscribed immediately 👍 brilliant video
Been subscribed for year or so. Some videos are worth watching again and again. Thanks for the time and effort!
Im terribly upset watching this video…that I have just now found this channel and not earlier. Great video!
Haha, well, better late than never 😉
Eli is great - a very engaging and enthusiastic teacher
This was awesome, the fact a real pilot was able to do all the checks, preps, flows, and normal ops. Makes me supper excited to get my virtual hands on this beauty!
Amazing tutorial - that was by far one of the best instructors I have listened to. Wanted to watch step by step but actually sat through the whole video in one go 😂. What a landing too - thanks for everything!
Great format. Pilot-splaining to a smart, inquisitive Brit=magic. Love this and the info being shared here. Having two people walking thru the setup in a way that I would if I had the opportunity to sit in a cockpit with a pilot is brilliant and dont think anyone else is doing. Perfection. Had to chime back in when you got to the arrivals bit - thanks so much for asking the question that no one ever asks or no other simmers on YT ever explain is if and should the arrival always be plugged into the box while still on the ground. Thank you!
I have never watched a video or stream over about an hour and a half. This video was so educational that I could not stop watching. I have saved it and will be using the chapters after buying the 777. Thank you both for helping me learn.
This is amazing, thank you! I am 2.5 hours in and already have learnt a tonne coming from the 737
This is what I’ve been waiting for. Someone who knows the systems inside out to run us through the complexity and intricacies PMDG have been able to recreate. I have to say I’m mighty impressed!
I really thought I already had a decent understanding of the 777 for release on day 1 but Eli has really shown some great shortcuts to help simplify things even more!! Great video guys 🙏🏻
Same here. Glad you found it useful.
PC SPECS??
PC specs are now in the description. Sorry, missed them off when I uploaded it on Saturday. My brain was a bit fried!
@@FilbertFlies yeah I’m not the type to sit and watch hour long tutorials but their was just something about this one that kept me watching all the way thru. I now have about 2 pages of notes aswell from watching this video as if it were almost a little study session 🤣
I love how heavily Eli obviously prepared for this. Loved all the little stats and fun facts about the plane. What a champion.
Yeah, all those stats and comparisons when we did the spin around outside were great weren't they? Really got me feeling enthused for the rest of it.
I was searching the internet for just this kind of video to help me learn about the pmdg 773 before release!
Hi Filbert, thanks to you and Eli for taking the time to do this. I found your previous 737 fly along tutorial really helpful so I’m looking forward to this. It will take time to learn how to operate this incredible aircraft, but it’s so satisfying once you figure it out. This will be a great companion to the PMDG 777 manual once they release it. Thanks again and happy flying.
Glad the 737 tutorial helped and I hope this one does too. :-)
thank you and Eli for the GREAT demonstration of the 777 and aviation in general, I've never thought that i could ever watch a 4 hours video about one topic in my life!
Our pleasure!
This is a fantastic video, Eli is absolutely great. Very enthusiastic and fascinating to listen to as he talks about complex topics in an understandable fashion. You both really made a 4 hour video not seem long!
Thank you both, Filbert & Eli for producing this tutorial for us mere mortals. Certainly makes for a more fulfilling experience for a non irl pilot. 👍🏼
Incredible tutorial!!! Step by step everything is explained perfectly, also for people who are slower and/ or coming from the Airbus... Can't wait to put the learning into action. Many thanks!
I absolutely love this format. It gets all the information we need while still being fun and lighthearted. In addition, Thanks so much for putting together the checklist. I use the one for the 737 and will be using this one for the 777 as well. I really appreciate your contributions to the flight sim community. Cheers!
Good, that's exactly what my aim is with this format. 🙂
I absolutely love this! Can't help cracking up at Eli's commentary. Awesome!
Fantastic video! Keep up the great work on your channel! Hope to see Eli back for some in-depth 777 stuff, non-normal procedures, etc. Thanks!
Thank you Filbert for these type of "learn how to fly" videos. really do aappreciate it. o/
This is the best tutorial I’ve watched yet! This is the kind of tutorials that I prefer to watch because of the real world pilots experience and instruction that he has learned and implemented in the real aircraft! So it was very interesting to see watch and learn about his techniques, tips and tricks that he has learned from flying this airplane!🤓
this is the best tutorial i ever seen, thx to the capt too. great
Filbert's 737 Tutorial was the one i watch and note every frame while i was preparing my custom checklists and procedures for 737, this will be the one for 777. thank you for this masterpiece. For any new simmers that want so fly 777, this is the only video that you need to watch and learn how to fly 777 without a problem in MSFS.
Loved this video all the way through. Eli is a great teacher, it's nice you can even see tricks they do in the real plane working in the PMDG.
Great vid!
Ok, just starting this video, I may have to re listen to this whilst working my normal job like I did for the 737 video so as to learn how to fly the 777. Thanks for the upload.
definitely going to watch this a couple times but picked up quite a few things I had no clue about, thanks!!
Incredible video Filbert. Thanks to you and Eli.
Now that I'm done with most of my own timestamps - thanks for the amazing tutorial and walkthrough!😊
Pleasure!
Thanks Eli for showing us the ropes! Brilliant instructor, entertaining and educational about the 777. I'll be going over this video for some time to come, until I'm confident. Don't need to hunt yt this is the ultimate tutorial for the pmdg 777
absolutely magnificent instructor. well taught well flown. would love to fly with a guy like that real world
This is SO good. Huge thanks to Eli and yourself for arranging this. Honestly this is so comprehensive and I feel MUCH more confident flying this thing in the sim now thanks to this video :)
The video he is referencing to is A330driver, he made a really good "How To" plan long haul flights including etops, great watch, also massive thanks for this video, I'm using it to prepare me prior to PMDG releasing the 777
yeah i saw that video too. great stuff
Several comments deleted here. Everyone is entitled to their opinions on other content creators but I don't like seeing offensive remarks made about people in any public forum and I certainly won't tolerate them in my comments section.
Excellent as always, you guys keep us impressed every time such a masterpiece is published. There's plenty of similar videos all over YT but this particular one is the only one I'vee seen in full. More than nonce. Belive it or not ;)
Very pleased to hear it. Thanks for the nice feedback. :-)
Very useful. Very good instructors. Thanks a lot to you guys.
It took me 2 days to watch this but it was worth it! Thank you for creating this incredible learning resource. And beautiful job with that landing!
i enjoyed when he talked about the characteristics didnt know alot of that was pretty cool
Thanks for this, both! Super interesting and useful!
Eli is great! Brilliant teacher.
love this.. sounds like a wet dream of mine flying with this guy on discord teaching me stuff. :D such a great teacher. great video!
Amazing tutorial as always!
this is beautiful work! many thanks for organizing this and thanks to Eli who is a wonderful instructor!
Great video, this will really help me when I get the 777, Thanks!
This is excellent . Thanks for this tutorial !!!
Thank you! for this great video! Free course!
Thank you very much !!! This is the reason why I have to subcribe you, Because you made great great great great great great quality tutorials !!!!!!!!!!
tell eli thank you from us all will be using his lessons and tips for my flights
great video and very informative - thank you!
So helpful!!! Thank you and Eli for this!!!
Thanks a bunch for this great video! Eli is an awesome teacher - such attention to detail along with a good dose of humor! Thanks again, Filbert!
P.S.: Not a single video (other than this one) explained how to get the ENG parameters on the Upper EICAS (with the switching to the captain's MFD). Just great stuff! 🤗🫡
This guy must have a personal vendetta against the 737 😂
I like this a lot! This is reliable information. So thorough!
Thanks to you and captain Eli for the amazing time. Ton of valuable information 😊
I remember trying to teach my buddy how to fly PMDG's 738 just over a discord screen share... I can agree with Eli it's a mental exercise - considering I can't point or anything and it's just a whole bunch of "no up, no too far up... no that's not autopilot panel, no that's the wrong screen." The best moment of that session was after getting them somehow all the way to the arrival airport their TCAS yells "traffic traffic", so I told him "there's no way I'm teaching you how to do a go around right now just continue the landing." Then 2 seconds later there was an A320 taking off on the perpendicular runway (it wasn't even active XD gotta love MSFS online)
Anyway, just from my basic understanding of the 737 this tutorial was beautiful. I cannot wait for the airplane to release as now I understand (nearly) everything about this aircraft. Great video ty to you and Eli!
Thanks to you both. As a retired Boeing guy, I found this very useful. The biggest I flew irl was the 767, but I too find taxiing the bigger aeroplanes in the sim, particularly the Jumbo, to be a more sedate, majestic sort of ritual. 😇
Yes, I find it's very sedate and majestic until it suddenly isn't! 😂
Fantastic! I was on that flight irl 2 months ago
Brilliant Tutorial Boss 👍
Thrughly enjoyed, learned a lot, thank you so much Captain. Thank you so much @FilbertFlies for arranging such a session.
Well this is beyond excellent
Th clock will auto run, but you need to elect the option in the Config section of PMDG. There's a few things you mentioned that are actually in PMDG config
Ah that's good to know, thanks.
Wow! I guess I'm going to have to buy it!
Brilliant, thanks 😊
Very helpful, thank you!
The only instruction you'll ever need
So good thank you!!!!
Thanks for this video, I plan to start streaming soon and this really helps me with my confidence for this plane. If you have anymore vids like this then I’ll be a fan for a while :)
I do! I have them for the 737 (ruclips.net/video/mX5QRithc0E/видео.htmlsi=-3xnXN56-lMTvALt), CRJ (ruclips.net/video/VMvw1_C3yVg/видео.htmlsi=a9pSTWIXQN4_vhxg) and CJ4 (ruclips.net/video/N5Hs04u1JA4/видео.htmlsi=vBNAvd3gYdAg4oWa). Good luck with the streaming. :-)
PMDG good quality - as always
magnificent!
This is gold
That Pilot is hilarious, what a lovely guest
Amazing! Thanks for all your efforts with this.
outstanding tutorial ❤👌✈
thank you so much!
Awesome video thank you! Please also pass the thanks on to Eli who is a fantastic teacher. Like you I will be rewatching a couple of bits - mainly the FBW section because the last part on pitch and speed threw me a bit. Have saved the URL to my 777 repo 🙂
Wau Thank you so much.
you're an absolute legend mate thanks so much for this if I was the king id give you a massive castle
Haha, pleasure! And if you were the king I would graciously accept a massive castle!
fantastic.
omg i learn a lot.....
perfect content
Great video. Engine sounds are ok. Seems like they made them too high pitched. They definitely need some work
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo ! Ça prépare bien pour son arrivé prochaine !
Thanks for the tutorial! I was hoping to see how to program the fix page with ETOPS for this flight. Could we have a video on that?
Sorry, not from me I'm afraid, I'm on an extended break from video production after this one! I wouldn't be surprised if someone else does one though. :-)
I want this guy to be my flying instructor 🙂
MY GOAT ❤
☺️
The performance tool does know the runway slope
Perfect. Don’t forget to like, comment, subscribe, and join Filbert’s Club.
Can’t wait for the MD-11 version of this series - it’s going to be epic.
If you want a good channel for aircraft maintenance you want to see Stig's channel on RUclips. He's a maintenance engineer for American at LA. He knows and shows many of the aircraft system's on 777, Airbus and 737
Hi . Nice tutorial & great details. idk maybe I'm wrong but I'm disappointed with the MCP black buttons .(they look flat ) Like already pressed on . If u compare it to the p3d version & irl youll get what im saying. I really wanna know Eli's opinion on this if he's seeing this comment. Thanks in advance
Great intro to B777 thank you
Of interest with setting the Transponder to xpndr not Ta/Ra on the ground
I am an x B7447_400 driver in the B744 even in Ta/Ra on the ground it will only transmit as on until the weight on wheel switches after liftoff will allow it to work in Ta/Ra
That's interesting. You're the second Boeing pilot to mention there being no need to use XPDR as TA/RA doesn't transmit on the ground. I'm curious as to why Eli's airline does use it. Will ask him when we next speak.
Hi everyone!! Excellent video. Thanks.
I’m trying to do my first flight with this incredible machine, was studying for a while, I think I’m doing everything fine, but when start the take off when apply take off thrust it crash for overspeed. The only problem I think could be is that I’m doing it with the plane empty, I meant no passenger and no cargo. Is frustrating, I don’t know what is happening.
I think pmdg is really relieved watching this video
Hello, Filbert! Good morning🙂
Hello there!
I'm not sure what "follow the yellow brick road" means here, but I'll remember it XD
Haha, it's from Wizard of Oz I believe!
This is the way
Great tutorial! The only thing I didn’t understand, is, why the approach isn’t flown in VNAV but flight level change.
The approach WAS flown in VNAV. The only bit that was in FLCH was the off-path, vectored descent.
Thank you both for this awesome tutorial. Will there be a base circuit training tutorial for 777 in the future?
I don't think so I'm afraid. I feel the need for a good long break from making videos after this one!
@@FilbertFlies I see. You deserve that nice long break!
Wonderful video! Do you have a printed checklist/guide like you did for the 737 video? 😊
Not as of yet! A legend of the FilbertFlies community/my personal ghostwriter (Liam) has offered to produce a flows document to go with the video. I don't suppose it'll include the checklists as the electronic ones are built in, but other than that it'll be the same format as the 737, BAe 146 and A310 ones.
Im sorry but Eli sounds so much like Howie Mandel and now thats who I think is teaching me to fly this plane lol
Do you think they will improve the sounds? A lot of people are complaining about them it seems!
I don't think so, but you never know.
Great video with lots of valuable info. Congratulations! When following the flow I am having problems with my throttles and reverses. I have a TCA. Is it possible for you to say which is your setup regarding the throttle axis and reverses?
I have a Honeycomb Bravo. To engage reverse, I have Reverse Hold bound to a button, which I press and hold, and then move the throttle leavers forward.
@@FilbertFlies Thank you! I will try that.
