Such an amazing project. Now you gotta get a Super NinShemDo vinyl sticker printed. Also does anyone else just love Shem's voice? It's so soothing. Looking forward to RetroBreeze ASMR channel someday :D
This is so good. And you've given me a fun idea for a personal project. I've been wanting to set up a small emulation box for the TV in our lounge for the kids. This with some nice 8bitdo controllers will be so nice.
I wanna do this, but I alwanna get an arcade cabinet to house it. Might just price out how much it would cost to 3d print the parts for an arcade shell.
Very impressed thanks for the link dude. I really like the look of it. Its very clean mine will be very messy no doubt In a cardboard box. Subbed will be excited to see what you do next
Great project! Thank you for sharing. I'm looking to do this type of project myself with the OPi5. Are you willing to share your 3D printed parts at least for the base? I'll understand if you don't. Again thank you. This was a fun watch.
Absolutely! The .STEP files are now available: www.printables.com/model/943993-rb-aio-5-game-console-orange-pi-5-plus Bear in mind it's not perfect. Let me know what you make!
For sure there are other options, but I chose the Plus for the larger footprint which worked well for the project, and for the IO layout that seemed easier to work with!
The RB-2H handheld is actually still in development and I've almost finished the final design. It was very challenging and I stopped for about a year, but it is definitely still coming!
Good question! Most Batocera drives you'll buy are set up to work on "x86_64 architecture" computers- basically any normal PC or Laptop. However the Orange Pi, raspberry pi and most other SBCs use ARM architecture. The two architectures are not cross-compatible, so in short, a Batocera drive like that won't be able to boot on the Orange Pi 5. However, you could install the compatible version of Batocera to the Pi using an SSD, eMMC or SD card, then use the Batocera drive just to access the games, which should work just fine!
It's an impressive arm solution. But AMD has been offering ryzen sbc's for awhile that I'm pretty sure beat the snot out of this both graphically and processing wise. They aren't as efficient but where this isn't a portable that basically doesn't matter.
Hi there! I used the official Android image from this page: www.orangepi.org/html/hardWare/computerAndMicrocontrollers/service-and-support/Orange-Pi-5-plus.html If you're booting from the SD card, the 1.0.2 version won't work, so use the backup folder and download 1.0.1 instead.
Aha, yes I know. You might be able to tell by my voice in this one that I have been under the weather. I had a chest infection for a few weeks and lost my voice for three whole days 😅
getting the 4GB version is why you fail. 16GB is best, 8 is also pretty good. Installed OpenFyde, gettingvulkan benefit, get steam and Android apps, emulate a ton, also recommended, get androidgames that are ports.Bioshock, max payne, GTA 3, VC, SA,ChinaTown, MassEffect infiltrator, dead space, cod blopszombies, and theLOAD more thatshould've just been on vita, but endedup on vita anyway because people like the vita more than a dumb phone, so instead get those, get PC ports like morrowind, oh and half life 2 is on android. But italready runs EXTREMELY well on the pi 5,not even the B or plus, justthe 5,ran it amazin. Then install Steam, and get hangover, wine, box86/64, winetricks, and some other what not. And I have yet to checkbut I wish winlator was on it, so PS3 emu, xbox, and 360 emu was available, Switch regardless runs somuch better on an 8GB but again 16GB, has witcher 3, has doom eternal, batman arkham which I bet would run properly, and the other 8000 Switch games, 4000 vita, 2000 PSP, add a seconddisplay, DS and wii U now doesn't suck. As well, have a damn telescopic controller and 2 gyrosensors, use like a rp2040 picozero and that way all the controls are handles ther. And Use a TEC on the bottom between the nvme (have a damn NVME, the speed on the plus is the reason to get the plus) 2.5GB/s reads 1.8 GB/s writes vs 400MB/s emmc, and almost 100 on the SD. also, coverthe main IO side, add SSD's, take SSD out of their casing, cover in kapton. have atleast 2TB nvme, and atleast 2 TB usb 3 SATA, the emmc is nic but i gave it to a 3b. So basicallynowadays though - because I also have a plus 16GB that I'm prototypingon a9inch, im switchin to an amd ryzen 5 or 7 mini pc (only 250-300 for 16GB RAM 6 Cores, surprising). Back to Opi5plus - Active cooling on top, would also be another TEC with a quality heatsink of flat the coppertubing moving to a set of blowers. Overclock E cores and P cores to 2+ and 3+ Ghz, overclock GPU, assign 2 E cores to GPU, and honestlysometimes assign all 4 effiency cores to GPU. Get a 6-10 18650 battery bank, 9 inch display with sub par pixelswhen prototyping, like 600x 1024, make sure pi knows that so it'll just render less and run better. I should've bought Snapdragon 8 or 7+ gen 3 logic boards when they were 200$ fml. the CM5 is out now, I'm buying one and honestly, I'll show you the video of it destroying yours when it's all fitted inside a PSP (replacing display with 2x res and 5 point touch, 8 to 12rumble motors, every touch button has unique rumble. .

This is so ridiculously cool! I appreciate the detail that you went into when discussing the problems you encountered.
Thank you for watching Dweeb! You can even connect a keyboard and play some DOS if you want!

Now I really want to get one of these to set up as a home console for my TV
Just buy a mini pc with an n100 cpu. It's better for the same price.
This is so good. And you've given me a fun idea for a personal project. I've been wanting to set up a small emulation box for the TV in our lounge for the kids. This with some nice 8bitdo controllers will be so nice.
That sounds great! Show it to me when it's done 😁
I wanna do this, but I alwanna get an arcade cabinet to house it. Might just price out how much it would cost to 3d print the parts for an arcade shell.
This is awesome. I love these awesome DIY projects and watching it all come together was so cool. Amazing job 👍
Thank you very much for watching ☺️
That is a whole other level of cool! Amazing video Shem, you're a real one.
Cheers Klef!
You should check out the GMKtech N97 mini pc. A 1” x 1” tiny PC with full Windows 11 that can play up to lightweight Switch emulation.
Forgot to mention it’s $150 all in.
I have the older NucBox 5 (same shell) and I absolutely love it! Got it for 80 big ones. Would love to try the new one some time!
Very impressed thanks for the link dude. I really like the look of it. Its very clean mine will be very messy no doubt In a cardboard box. Subbed will be excited to see what you do next

@@RetroBreezeYT Thank you
Nice video thanks!! Which game control are you using in the video? Thanks!!!
Nice ideia, I did similar thing for my rasp 3, but u made my mind to buy a orange pi
Cooool I'd love to see it!
God of War back when its good. Nice.
I said what I said 😁 thanks for watching!
God of war has always been goated
Excellent work here!!!
Thank you so much!
That looks so cool. Have you tested performance of emulation using a Linux OS like Batocera as opposed to Android? Would that be more performant?
I need to test it more actually, but I'm guessing the performance would be substantially better!
I've been looking for the cheapest way to get a living room retro gaming rig and this might be it!
If you do test it I'd love to hear how you go.
I would love to see that in a game boy dmg case
Man, it would be cool if it was some kind of clamshield handheld instead,
A handheld is a whole different ball game when it comes to battery management and controls!
I'd use a Opi5 or opi5 pro, not plus, for this use case, but hey, you did good job, so I'm happy with that
For sure there are other options, but I chose the Plus for the larger footprint which worked well for the project, and for the IO layout that seemed easier to work with!
@@RetroBreezeYT well, maybe someday I'll post my own version so that we can compare. Cheers, mate
Handheld video arent coming as you promised earlier?
The RB-2H handheld is actually still in development and I've almost finished the final design. It was very challenging and I stopped for about a year, but it is definitely still coming!
I’m new to these orange pi computers. Can you plug in an external batocera hard drive to play your emulated games?
Good question! Most Batocera drives you'll buy are set up to work on "x86_64 architecture" computers- basically any normal PC or Laptop. How are the GPU drivers on that thing? Are they only on Android, or non-Android Linux as well? Vulkan, or only OpenGL ES?

Hello my friend, what version of Android did you use, can you send the link or explain where you downloaded it??
Hi there! I used the official Android image from this page: www.orangepi.org/html/hardWare/computerAndMicrocontrollers/service-and-support/Orange-Pi-5-plus.html

Dang Bro! Where have you been!? You done disappeared from the Digiverse!

@@RetroBreezeYT Dang man, I hope your doing okay.
killzone also crashes on the original orange pi5 i have android 12 build
Good to know!
How does this compare to the Radxa Rock 5b?
Unfortunately I've not used the Rock 5b myself!
@RetroBreezeYT does the orange pi 5 run ps2 decently?
Make a handheld using orangepi5
I'd love to, especially with an iPad mini (4:3) display!
could have used pro or max, both are more powerful overall and smaller (wifi and bluetooth built in + emmc and nvme boot)
HOLY SHIT FORTNITE
second to none? The NIO 12L is better by radxa, superior CPU, with UFS 1/2TB storage btw.
Hi bro, can this run ps2 games?
