Christopher Lee was first famous for the masses for playing Dracula in the 60s, and I feel as the Judge in the beginning of the movie his framing makes his chair look like two black wings. I am sure that's on purpose, as a homage / easter egg.
Sleepy Hollow is an actual town near Tarrytown NY. You can visit the cemetary where Washington Irving is buried. The Old Dutch Church still stands and holds services.
What a wonderful reaction! Spooky time is always the best time, especially when it comes to Sleepy Hollow. It's one of those movies that doesn't overstay its welcome and think Tim Burton expanding the story of Sleepy Hollow was a great move. Great cast and I love how you pick up on so many things now, like picking up on writers tricks. You're one of the only reactors I will never tire of, I can't wait until your next reaction!
Fun fact: the horse “Gunpowder” was going to be put down after the film. When Johnny Depp found out about this he adopted the horse and it now lives with him on a farm.
Disney did a great take on this story. It's paired with their "Wind in the Willows" in the film "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad". The Headless Horseman half is a Halloween/Fall must watch.
In the original Disney cartoon, Crane is killed when the Horsemen throws his own flaming pumpkin head at Ichobod, who is "never seen again." I think it's one of the only Disney Classics where the villain wins in the end.
Actually, it ends with Ichabod's whereabouts unknown. Disney leaves it with the rumor that he is living with a woman in another town. It is a Disney movie and targeted for and audience of children, so they are not going to come out and say that Ichabod died when, even in the original story, Ichabod's disappearance is left to interpretation.
On top of what Ckent said, it should also be noted that Disney's Icabod is not really the hero. Brom Bones is. Icabod's literally there for selfish intent of marrying to be rich and gets what he wants by being the Bugs Bunny in a Daffy Duck cartoon. Sure, the Headless Horseman is still a villain (and a fantastically maniacal one at that) but Disney's version of Icabod is that of an antagonist using his charms to get by while Brom Bones has to figure out how to get him out of town before he ruins things.
You need to see the NZ comedy horror "Black Sheep". The tagline was "The violence of the lambs". If it makes you feel better to know this the iron maiden was actually a product of 18th century historical fiction.
I really appreciate Ichabod in this adaptation. Here you have a very scientific and skeptical man, but once he actually witnesses the supernatural (after a period of panic), he totally comes to grip with it and just treats it as a previously unknown field of study, ready to be learned and understood.
Nice reaction Cassie! My first experience with this story was in elementary school, maybe 4th or 5th grade. That story was edited so that it was appropriate for a young audience. My next experience was the Disney animated adaptation. Both largely followed along the same story line. Next was this movie. This was very different, and obviously meant for an older audience. Finally, a few years ago, I realized that I had never read the source material. So I bought a book of Washington Irving's short stories and read it. It is a little difficult to read, as the language of the time (1820) is different from even the language of books written in the early 1900's. But the book does confirm that the Horseman was a Hessian soldier. That is about all that the movie has in common with the actual short story, except for some main character names. In the short story, the horseman only appears for 2 1/2 pages, a very small percentage of the actual length of the short story. The rest are just stories about him as relayed by other characters. And the ending is quite different between the short story and this movie. With the exception of specifying that the horseman was a Hessian soldier, which the Disney adaptation omitted, Disney's version is the closest adaptation to the actual Washington Irving short story.
I hate to be one of those people complaining about Disney, but aside from DeadPoolxWolverine, they don’t really push the line anymore from the source the get stories from.
Thank you so much Jax for your response, HI! To LAMIE, enjoy the series Capt. America and the Winter Soldier, I love your our fit, most of all, I Love your beautiful face & your 1 of a kind laugh. Please take care, stay safe & Happy.
The 'rest of her eternity' is likely to not be very pleasant. On one hand the horseman did seem to have a smile on his face before jumping them back to Hell. On the other, she's responsible for his death, his unquiet rest, and raising him up repeatedly for her own greed and vengeance. Oh, and the horseman was never a nice or kind person so that smile was likely at least a little sadistic.
I think you'd like the old horror films from Hammer Studios from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. They have the same gothic atmosphere and star great British actors like Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Oliver Reed, and Joanna Lumley. My favorites are The Brides of Dracula, Curse of the Werewolf, Dracula Has Risen from the Grave, Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, The Devil Rides Out, Vampire Circus, and The Lost Continent.
@reactswithjax: Saw this one in the theatre because I grew up watching Disney's The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and had to see what Tim Burton would do with it.
Jax..fun facts... flour dust is actually more explosive than gun powder. So the exploding windmill was accurate, sort of. Also, Ichabod smacking Daredevil ...literally beating a dead horse...😊
I always hoped after this movie came out that there would be a TV series set about 1820 called The Adventures of Masbeth where a grown up Masbeth would fight otherworldly challenges with his strength and bravery while being mentored by an older Ichabod Crane who uses science and the law against the monsters.
10:35 Fun fact: this scene on the bridge with the sounds, shots, and atmosphere (along with the "Headless Horseman" carrying the lighted Jack-O-Lantern and throwing it) are all an homage to Disney's version of Sleepy Hollow from their "Adventures of Icabod and Mr. Toad" film.
I find it odd that you havent reacted to Babe (1995) being a sheep devotee, unless you already saw it before and thats the reason you like them to begin with.
Love the reaction girl.. As always.. if you dont mind I'd like to give a fun fact about something with this film. Johnny Depps horse they used for him to ride in this, GunPowder, was actually, for whatever the reason was I don't remember, set to be put down after production of this film finished but Johnny couldnt bear that so he actually adopted him.
Wednesday Addams, Saruman, Emperor Palpatine, Captain Jack Sparrow, Emperor Joseph II, Dumbledore, King George III ... yes, it's quite an ensemble cast.
Burton's decision to flip Irving Washington's work into a "who dunnit?", while staying true to the classic tale, is nothing short of brilliant. Great reaction, as always!
“Bad things don’t happen when sheep are around”………. As someone who has been somersaulted 6 feet in the air after being hitting the back by ram, i assure you bad things do happen around sheep 🤨
In the original short story, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", the headless horseman can't cross the bridge and throws a jack-o-lantern at Ichabod as he crosses it, so that is likely the reason the pumpkin imagery was used as heavily in the film.
In a few videos before this there were comments mentioning that you need to watch Tobey and Andrew spiderman movies and the 2 venom movies before Spider-Man No Way Home.I hope you saw those comments or see this one.I saw that you have recently watched Shang chi so you are very close to No Way Home.Really excited.
The Movie is a love letter to the Dracula Movies that Christopher Lee used to make with Hammer Studios. From the Camera angles, style of sets and even the dialogue to the desaturated colors contrasting with the vivid almost neon red blood.
Nice Winnie the Pooh costume, lamby looks great. Your love for sheep is adorable, I look forward to every movie with sheep ( I have a deep love for rabbits). This is one of my favorite tim Burton movies because I love the Ichabod crane/sleepy Hollow story, side note the tv show was my kinda show
Oh, what a LOVELY woman you are! Long time fan, we chatted briefly on an account I’ve closed. You know, your beauty isn’t in your looks. You are a physically amazing woman, but actually not my “type”. If I really even have one, lol. But your inner beauty RESONATES!! It’s a joy to watch you and be “tickled” by the things you are… as a disabled veteran, you help me connect to the world in a way that wasn’t possible before! Thanks, my beautiful (inside and out) FRIEND!!! 🥰👍🏼 p.s. I didn’t watch this review, cause I didn’t like the movie 😘👍🏼
Im 15 minutes from Sleepy Hollow Ulster county NY...we have the Ghost busters Ecto-1's driving around and headless horseman everywhere..its beautiful up here this time of year... excellent movie 🔥🤘🔥
Even in my country, the legend of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow is known, and the film is too, thanks to the talented Tim Burton. I watched this film as a child and was amazed by its dark, fun and beautiful theme, with its unique "light" that still surprises today. This cast is wonderful, especially the sheep who are, by far, the most sensible characters in the entire film.

You really missed an opportunity for a pun there Jax! Surely you were “still in the spirits of spooky season” rather than just “still in the spirit of spooky season”! 🤔😜🤣🤣🤣
A fun Gothic horror fantasy adventure from director Tim Burton. It won the Oscar for Best Production Design and it was a box office and critical success, making $270 million dollars against a $80-100 million dollar budget.
Thank you for watching Sleepy Hollow regardless of the polls. This is one of Tim Burton's best films. It's the golden standard for this story's interpretation.
I had hoped that all the Halloween-themed reactions would be finished after October 31st, but I guess not. However, since this is one of the very few movies I have seen, I decided to watch this one. I stopped doing Halloween long ago.
Hello, gorgeous❤! Fun, well made movie. Enjoyed it with my kids ages ago. Try Hansel and Gretel. Equally entertaining. RIP Michael Gambon. Loved him in Layer Cake with a young Daniel Craig. Gangster!!!!!!
Hey Jax, I Luv the Winnie the Pooh costume! Lamby as a lambkin is cute!🎃 I had to laff when you noticed the sheep in the movie, only you Jax!😁 Any movie with Christopher Walkin is going to be great! Great reaction Jax! Thanks for sharing!❤️💛🐑
You should watch "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, But Were Afraid to Ask". It's a comedy made up of several different stories. One stars Gene Wilder and involves a sheep.
I wouldn't be surprised if you edit your own videos for RUclips. Lots of sheep cameos. And if it wasn't you, your editor must know about your love for sheep.

Horses live 25-30 years.
This movie is over 25 years old.
That horse, does not live anywhere.
"Nothing bad happens when sheep are around" - Jax
oh yeah?
"Tremors" (1990)
pretty sure lots of sheep were eaten in How To Train Your Dragon trilogy.

@yourlifeisagreatstory the Disney animated film I was referring to was from 1949, so not even close to being recent.

Also the thing you said about bats isn't actually true its just a very small amount that get rabbies just like any other animal that gets rabbies
14:02 "Nope" had me laughing so hard at 4 AM I'm sure I woke my neighbors across the street.

Could still happen. You might even get Marc Pickering to reprise his role!

5:28 Johnny Rico 💪
Very cute Tinker Bell hair 👌
There is a New Zealand film called Black Sheep, It's about Sheep
So much color was subtracted from the film that the blood was bright orange to photograph properly.
Three Sith Lords, a Batman Butler, two Headmasters, Rita Skeeter and Harrys Uncle, a Starship Trooper........
And Ed Rooney from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
and a partridge in a pear tree
@@kevinshea7547 As i said - two Headmasters... 😜
Three? Let's see there's Sidious and Tyranus, who the third?
Ray Park as the Horseman when he doesn’t have his head.
31:15 thing about a dead horse… they can’t be beat!
I’ll see myself out.

Kind of surprised you’ve never heard of the headless horseman and the legend of sleepy hollow ..
I want to be a pumpkin, too!!!!

I think someone already saw this great movie.
For some reason I totally believe that Jax knows her spells
Who else owns this movie and never even noticed the sheep? ✋️
“Bad things don’t happen when sheep are around”………. As someone who has been somersaulted 6 feet in the air after being hitting the back by ram, i assure you bad things do happen around sheep 🤨
That sounds hilarious...
what was the bad thing?
This girl is crazy about sheep. It's like someone wrote a program in her brain and a switch turned on.
I was, fortunately young and bounced more than I do now but no not a particularly good thing 😂
Well people do have their obsessions. Could be worse
14:01 haha I love Lamby's comments🤣

Ooh, good to know!!
In much folklore evil "spirits" and the like couldn't cross fast moving water. Brauhm Stoker used this troupe in "Dracula".

Yeah, I'd love to revisit the Spider-Man movies!
there is a movie call Black Sheep
4:46-4:52 "y'all knew... You knew there were sheep in this movie."
Do you, perchance mean "ewe knew"?
Hahaha! I love this so much!!

We need to see your reaction about Deadpool and wolverine
Halloween costumes by their very definition are to be scary, not cute. Unless for a small child, that’s the only exception!!!
Actually terrifying!
Try 2006’s Black Sheep it has all the sheep, horror and humour you could want
I purpose a new title Sheepy Hollow.
Hi Jax hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Thank you so much John! I hope you have a great day as well ❤️
The microphone looks like Pooh Bear's big nose. 😂
Being somewhat new here, is there a backstory to Jax's obsession with sheep?
A lot of us were introduced to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow as school kids. You’re in good company Jax.
Hey Cinderella, you should check out the tv show "Sleepy Hollow" it is my favorite telling of old Ichibod Crane and the headless horseman
HOPE YOU watch scream movies 😅❤❤❤
2:23 I’m sorry Jax, I had to laugh at this.
3:13 “Are we heathens?” Proceeds to throw someone into an oubliette.
did you watch VVitch 2015. great movie
It might not be suitable for RUclips but a super underrated movie is Black Snake Moan. With Samuel L Jackson, Christina Ricci and Justin Timberlake
Omg you are so adorable! You and your sheep! lol. You know how to melt hearts!
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️

Just realised you have yet to react to 28 Days Later. One for next spooky season please.

Thank you for watching Sleepy Hollow regardless of the polls. This is one of Tim Burton's best films. It's the golden standard for this story's interpretation.
It was so fun and the perfect thing to watch on Halloween!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

GREAT REACTION! 😁 so glad you enjoyed the SHEEP-nery and appreciated the horror and humour of the movie! 👍☺
Thank you!! Movies are always a little better when they include sheep!
When did this sheep thing start is what I would like to know?
You are adorable 😂😂
Compliments to Jax and lamby on your costumes and reaction .
Thank you so much!! ❤️
also when are reacting to Deadpool and Wolvrine
You should really watch the old Disney cartoon for this.
I'd love to see that!
Reverend: This! is the only book i ´d recommend you to read,
Crane: (opens up bible...sees family tree)
The foreshadowing in this is brilliant.
Also the twin girls. We can guess which one snapped the twig. 🤔
Lamb and pumpkin sounds like an interesting combo, i'll get my chefs jacket out.
Oh no! What have I done?! 😅
The inquisition torture device that you see for Ichabod´s mom, is called "the iron maiden". It´s also a great band.
I recall reading that iron maidens weren't actually used as a torture device. It's more of a mythological device. Not 100% sure. I hope they weren't.
Dressed as Winnie the Pooh? So... no pants?
I'll show myself out.
As far as I’m concerned, Autumn and Winter still are good places for creepy tales, even after Halloween.
Do you think there's a ghost or somebody pretending? This isn't Scooby Doo Jax !!!
You must be still Anakin, the fever is on you!
Hi! Thank you so much!! ❤️
Do a reaction to Black Sheep from 2006.
I understand people have different tastes but "scarier than Alien"? Seriously? I would argue that Sleepy hollow isn't scary at all it's just dark
Jax, this is your fault...I'm now not concentrating on any movie I watch because I'm looking for sheep in the background! 🐑🐏
Hahaha! Your welcome!
Ok the cut to the slicing carrot had me on the floor lol
I was traumatised
Hehehehehe...
Movie: starring Christina Ricci
Jax: "Oh. My. God! ...is that sheep?!"
later Jax: Is that Christina Ricci?!
Love your reactions!
I love the beginning credits:
Christina Ricci’s name appears:
Her: “Oh my god. You’re kidding…are those sheep?”
I thought you were reacting to her 😂
Haha same here!
