    The random motion is what has been holding me back for years now. There’s something about the string change motion that causes me to lose the fluid motion of one string picking when I switch to the next string. I’ve been trying to program this out of my brain forever but I still pops up every couple of string changes. This video series has given me motivation to practice again. Thanks Ben !!

      That's great to hear - if you focus on these smaller steps you're less likely to get overwhelmed and you can start enjoying your practice again

    String crossing is really an obscure world! It seems my brain slides on ice when i do it. I don’t feel in control when i do it! Detail every single motion will help for sure! Thank you Ben for explaining why we should your exercises!

    I always choose economy picking for the lone note while ascending. Descending is much harder so I play a legato to flip the sequence. Hope this makes sense.

    My problem is when crossing to the other string, so let’s say, instead of going from 4th to 3rd i want to go from 4th to 2nd, how can i make it fats, and keep the same tempo

    Awesome Ben!!! Do you use pickslanting or something like that?

    • @BenHigginsOfficial
      @BenHigginsOfficial  4 года назад +9

      Hi Santiago, I think in terms of hand angles rather than pick slant. In my experience, the topic of pick slanting is leading many guitarists down the rabbit hole of confusion. People need to remember that pick slanting is just two words that describe the direction your pick faces when you hold your hand a certain way. It doesn't actually cause the pick to move. Understanding how to generate speed on one string and then working on string crossing using one string cross at a time is a more tangible way of making progress. In the recent Speed Accelerator workshop I was seeing participants of all ages and abilities getting amazing results and we didn't even need to talk about pick slanting once because it's just not that important.

    Do you see any advantage in using directional picking or use strict alternate picking when crossing strings? Cheers for the lessons!

      @@BenHigginsOfficial alright I’ve been practicing both alternate picking and hammer one and pull offs just replaying four first few videos over and over again. How do I know when to hammer on vs when to alternate pick? Also appreciate your content it’s helping a lot!
