so apparently because he basically operates as the camera the glasses narrow his field of vision so that he’s forced to turn his head to look at things. pretty neat
I guess because its the players vision. others arent wearing it which makes more sense
@@averagesleepyidiot basically, yeah. because what he sees is what the player sees, the glasses make it so that he’s forced to move his head around to look at everything, rather than just moving his eyes like he would in everyday life - e.g. he has to physically move his head up to talk to someone who’s only a few inches above him. otherwise the camera would never move during cutscenes lol

Tbh I would just fly the Winters family out of Europe in a plane (pretend it's a safety issue) tranq all of them and make sure fake Mia is Miranda. From there bsaa could experiment on her/ kill her. Most importantly, without Miranda they could *speedrun* the village and retrieve mia faster than you could say raccoon city

May the actress that died after making the game Rest In Peace. It was one of Lady’s daughters. I forgot which one. I read an article about her. It’s very sad that she didn’t get to see how everything turned out and how happy everyone is. 😞

And this is why I insist on not calling them "voice actors" anymore when they work on AAA games like this. They legit perform all scenes. People really need to call them what they are: just ACTORS or PERFORMERS. "Voice actor" implies that they only stand in a booth. WRONG.
even actors who only do booth work put in a whole lot of work considering you have to put everything using just your voice. Though, I think the distinction should still be made between live action performers and performers whose physical features aren't necessarily in the final product.

Voice actor is already a highly respected profession, chill out acting like people don't appreciate their work lol
I don't know how it works in the US, but where I was born (Brazil) you need to study acting first to become a "voice actor". So technically all the voice actors are... well, actors. I saw an interview once in which a voice actor said that "you need to learn how to act; being able to make funny/beautiful voices isn't enough to be a voice actor".

They probably have them wear that stuff around each other beforehand to get all the laughs out, or do some takes where they can laugh at the movement/props before they use a serious one. At least, that's what I'd do in that situation. How can you NOT start laughing when a girl randomly flails her arms around and some dude shoots with her with a toy gun?

@Miguel Velazquez he has a head in the game, they just made it invisible to avoid teeth and eyes to go inside the camera. There are some videos that disable this and you can see that Ethan's face has no animation. Only the head moves

“Swamp guy’s” actor apparently threw up on set during a scene or something at one point so even if Moreau’s role isn’t as important (or sexually appealing lol) as Lady D or Heisenburg, respect to him for really owning the role

The actors who play Beneviento and Moreau are fucking brilliant. I know everyone was simping for Lady Dimitrescu but once those two came on screen I couldn’t keep my eyes off of them because of how great the performance was.
Yeah, I thought the same! Moreau's actor's funny giggling and facial expressions before and after he gets pushed by Beneviento's doll were chef's kiss!
Extra props to them because it legitimately seems like their parts were the hardest to get into character & stay in character over, especially given the motion capture environment they have to work with. Had no idea they even used motion capture for the doll.

Btw: imagine games being made in 2040s
By the tail-end of the 2000s, the games were quite similar to what we'd see now. Maybe not graphically, but they pretty much followed the same structure and could heavily resemble a "modern" game. Hell, GTA V, still one of the most popular games, came out on mid-2000s hardware. The twenty year gap will probably be much smaller comparing to the last twenty years, but I could be totally wrong.

I mean some stuff was done like this in the 80s and 90s for games like Mortal Kombat as well. They had real actors in costumes doing the moves :)

It looks so funny seeing them act these parts but their performances, in my opinion, were perfect. They're so talented and I really wish the Castle Dimitrescu section was longer. Easily the best part of the game.

That way they get all they need right then and there then if they have to, they edit it or make tweaks to it.
That's why alot if these games are coming out quicker than they used to back in the day, lol
I prefer this method of game making.
Speaking from mocap experience: when it takes 1.5-2+ hours to get you hooked up & into the suit, another two hours or more to set up the stage & tech depending on the scene that day, and another 7-8 hours of performance per session requiring full body AND voice acting, it's not a very "funny" time
All of the main actors were incredible in their roles

It looks like above average amateur theatre if you took away the mocap. At least, this is how people would shame this without context.

This is the same technology they used back in Polar Express. It didn't catch on with movies but video games have been using the mo-cap to degrees that make things look beautiful. While Polar Express and a few other movies ran into the uncanny valley effect, Resident Evil and games like Until Dawn look great like this. It's realistic and yet you still have that layer of fantasy to separate yourself. A terrible mistake for movies... a great use for the video game industry!

Maggie Robertson (Lady D) is of course great. But I’m especially impressed by the dedication of Paula Rhodes (Angie the doll).
Even when her capture at 2:53 is replaced by a prop object, she still acts the part.
She is super dedicated but she would have to stay in character anyway because that prop is only there to replace her physically in the real world and as a template for when they put her captured actions on top of it digitally.
