When I was a kid I would listen to Gran Turismo 2 blasting through my TV all day on my PS1. Sometimes I wouldn't even race, just draw or play with my toys. I used to dream of owning a 90s Supra or RX7 and drive around my hometown. Man the memories!!!!
Bro that red 93 Supra is always my starter car. Easy to drive, cheap to upgrade. That game was in a class of it's own back then. Still want a red 93 Supra in my real garage!
Gran Turismo music is the absolute pinnacle of any car/racing game music. I wish I had a PlayStation to play GT7. I played it all the time with my dad when I was little.
I think the early 2000s had such a great thing going on in the world of acid jazz and fusion. It was pretty popular in the japanese video game space, judging by the OSTs that a lot of Dreamcast and PS2 games sported. Jamiroquai was still doing their lovely little thing over in London. This Gran Turismo collection really shows off some of that video game music that I still can't get enough of. Shout out to Mario Kart 8 for their excellent OST that draws a lot from jazz fusion.
I completely agree, it capture an age of expansion of technological capabilities without a clear vision of where it takes our society in the future. It’s a global vibe that represents the entire modern human age
To everyone who's studying with this music: Checklist: • A bottle of water, at least 1 liter. Your brain works better if it has enough water and drinking helps you to concentrate💧 • Your charger. You sometimes don't even notice that your device's battery is going down, so better have it plugged in all the time🔋 • Your headphones. You will be able to focus more with headphones, because it blocks background noises. Also, if it's a late night study session, you won't wake up anyone🎧 • a tea or coffee. Coffee keeps you awake, green or black tea can make you feel more awake as well.☕ • Your study/work stuff: your laptop/tablet/phone , a few pens, paper or whatever you need.⌨ •Anything else you could need, what about a heat pad, a blanket, a good lamp, your pet so you have a study buddy 🐈 Reminder : After an hour, you should stand up and walk a bit around. Better stop the music or put on different music for the break. Open your window, even if it's cold outside. Fresh air will make it better, trust me. You could also lay your head down on your desk for ten minutes and listen to a podcast. Or, if you have to read a book, listen to the audiobook of it. You can also listen to the audiobook while doing another thing, that's even better than listening to music while reading the book. I hope y'all had a good day, if not, that's okay too. Remember to take care of yourself and try to get some sleep tonight 😴🧸
This brought me back. I remember just browsing cars in the garage with my dad since we used the same save file, with Be At Home strumming along in the background. He'd show me his favorites, compare them to mine, and talk about the times he may have seen or worked on one or two.
In a time where companies actually invested time, player experience and quality of life in video games. I am happy to be a part of that time, and thankful that this person has posted these throwbacks.
i grew up with many boy cousins and they played this relentlessly. the few times i played, i was always obsessed with the music. finally remembered the name of it today and here i am 😭☺️ also just happy other people have the same distinct fondness over this
It's beautiful how everyone remembers some of all these beautiful tracks, it's an awesome community, I'm very grateful for this mix. the songs are well accommodated btw
Man the jazz is part of my life. I used to play GT4 on PS2, had a blast, it thoughted me how to drive! Without him, my drivers license would come way later in my life.
i never played this game before but i like to listen to this music almost everyday when i run with my dog in the backyard, we been doing that for 2 months and well when she’s dead this music will be sad for me but at the same time hold a comfortable memory for me, in the mean time i’m going to build them up and keep listening and running.
I'll never forget my 7th birthday, early 2005, getting a ps2 with GT3 and Ratchet and Clank 3. Core memory for sure. Glad I'd played Gt 1 and 2 beforehand on the old ps1! 3 was amazing.
Sometimes I imagine I'm back at Christmas morning opening GT2... I played for like 2 days straight and loved every moment. Good times :) Jewel cases, load times, and memory cards. Too bad the GT series is essentially over but, 1-4 were simply amazing and so much fun!! (remember "fun" Polyphony ??)
Played this game so often when I was 6 to 10 years old. I have a whole collection of good memories of me playing it with my older brothers. They would sometimes pull an all-nighter just to win a long race. It was really epic.
Having this on whilst preparing for an interview makes me feel so relaxed and like I'm gonna boss this interview lol. Core memories of playing Gran Turismo after school, and now having time to play it after work feels very full circle for me.

The atmosphere of this series, especially GTV for me, is SO astonishing! I can't really describe it. Its just like pure perfection of cars in terms of engineering. Its like ideal representation of what cars is supposed to feel in creator's mind.
I used to play a lot of GT3-GT6 with my dad we can no longer play them because our ps2 and ps3 dont work anymore and I always go back and listen to their great soundtracks that bring back so many wonderful memories
If you ever play the game, you will find it more enjoyable while selecting cars from your garage or store in the game, or just chilling with the music in the main menu.
unfortunately I've never had a PlayStation so I've never been able to own a gran turismo game but I used to play GT5 on my brother's PS3 back in 2011 but love the music really positive vibes
I remember some of this music because I used to play gran turismo 5 as a child, they are wonderful, now I listen to them to work in the office... a nice background.
so amazing and nostalgic. I played the older GT games but not the two most recent ones/ back when PS2 was cutting edge and I was a kid... so life was simpler for me....
1:42:35 The vibe of this song is the apex of Chill out, it would be one of the most perfect songs possible for you are in a car dealership or in a coffee shop, with a rustic modern architecture in Tokyo, at the same time you are having an elegant coffee with this song background and looking at a purple sky in nice weather... the neat thing about this is that I had practically never played GT or see much of it on my own, but I heard some of the tracks here and immediately remembered some cause my dad used to play alot of the GT games (not as much right now) and sometimes he'd jus be on a menu screen or the car editing thingy or whatever it was in the games, and id listen in and take in that sweet ass music.

I have listened to this whole playlist like 8 different times playing it at work, video games, drawing. This music is such a good vibe. I don't think I ever played the games but we might have had them in a CD container that had a bunch of sleeves for CD's. Since that logo looks hella familiar. I have very good memories of GT2 with my brother, we played Race battles until we were tired. We had written down in a notebook the times we raced Corvette ZR1 vs TVR Cerbera, and we really liked the soundtrack like a bird Kimmei. Good memories, I should return to Gran Turismo to be able to play versus with split screen but horizontally, not vertically.
