Good memories!! I'm so lucky that I saw her at this show. It's almost a lifetime ago ;). Mulgrew Miller on piano, Gregg Brandy on drums. I don't remember the bassplayer. BETTY - what a voice, what a phrasing!!! She's still my favorite singer.
I used to play a lot with Greg Bandy and he always spoke about playing with Betty Carter. This is the first time actually seeing him with her trio and it is really exciting to see.
She is so unique, so beautiful while doing it, so effortlessly...
How the hell did I ever miss this gem of a Jazz singer?...Remarkable.
I was raised on her down at the Jersey shore through out the 70-80-90's & so on... Christmas week Mama blasted "my favorite things"😊
Maaaannnn.....I agree with you 100%.... A beautiful talent and amazing vocals.
I'll never forget the day I met this treasure at New port Jazz in 1996. My favorite, along with Al Jarreau.
Two short remarkable tunes. My favorite jazz singer
