OK Dr.Wheel.... now you've officially Blew my Mind:)))... i thought i had seen the best method for learning to ride an EUC, with the shopping card in front... but now this??.. this is even better!!! For sure, now i will use this method when i get my first EUC, for to learn how to ride it... thnx a million for this idea!!! You get the "Golden Mr.Miyagi Award" for best Teaching Method on EUC Riding :)))
Thanks! The DIY brushes are a great tutorial but they were not my original idea. It is just an offshoot of training wheels. It is best if you have an EUC rider that can correct you while you are learning to ride. If not possible, then keep these things in mind: 1.) Make sure you are well geared. Have helmet, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads on. 2.) Make sure your EUC is well padded as you will bang it several times. 3.) After you have acclimated to the wheel using the brush technique and have removed them, you need a certain speed as you learn to ride your wheel. It is hard to balance if you are going really slowly. 4.) I don’t recommend practicing on grass as the terrain is uneven and can slow you down in moving forward. It is important to have some speed. About 5-10 mph. 5.) Make sure you have a large amount of space to practice on. You might be distracted as you are learning to ride and might crash on to something. 6.) Refer to my video as I mentioned lots of tips as my friend was learning to ride. Good luck and kick ass!
I loved watching this video and when i finally teach someone to ride i will copy the brush technique. Thanks for creating this content it helps push the scene forward.
Glad you liked it! I was actually quite surprised myself that Aram picked up the EUC way in such a short amount of time. I definitely feel the brushes helped accelerate his muscle memory training. His background in roller skating and the real time feedback from me helped too.

@@dnut999 - The MTen is a great choice. Make sure you have it well padded since it will be your training wheel. Smaller wheels are harder to learn but not impossible as you can see Aram had no problem with the MTen on first try. Other ways to learn are the shopping cart or practicing in the hallway or a small bridge so you can hold on to both sides of the rail as you acclimate to the wheel. I feel the training brush technique is the best though. Good luck!
why didn't i think of that. i was thinking of caster wheels but don't wanna drill a hole on the pedals or buy a honeycomb pedals to to accommodate the caster wheels. i ended up getting trekking poles today (haven't tried the wheel with it), but that looks better (i think). 2 in 1 street sweeping while learning. LOL.
You just need to acclimate to the feel of the wheel. The DIY training brush was used for the first 15 minutes only. After that, my friend had to learn by getting on the wheel without the brushes. You can try the shopping cart technique or the baby stroller with no baby of course. Try putting something heavy like bricks so as not to tip over the stroller when you hold onto it. I have seen some use trekking poles in the beginning. These training aids should be used for the first few minutes only. They will tend to hinder if you use it the whole time. Good luck to you.
Thanks! I was quite impressed myself how quickly Aram learned it. I made the DIY 2 years ago but never had a chance to test it on anybody. I am so glad I used it on him. Easy and cheap DIY too.
@@AdamU1016 yeah I first saw this on a video solowheel had made ruclips.net/video/XjOH5w0OpPw/видео.html but I didn't do it myself. Not a bad idea at all
It really does work. The hardest part is the patience to make the DIY brushes. Really not even that hard to make. You only need to use the brushes for about 15 minutes to get the feel of the wheel. The brushes will make you feel more relaxed once you acclimate. Once you’ve gotten used to it is when you then learn the wheel without the brushes. You will pick it up within minutes.
The skateboarding technique is a good way to teach. Keep body centered overed the wheel and have a firm grip with plant foot. push from beside the pedal. use arms for balance. focus forward on where you want go.
I'm impressed. Very creative first contact method to the wheel. I prefer (sort of mine) method for teaching without any fence or wall, building confidence from scratch slowly. 1) learn to step one foot and make a little jump with the other 2) same as 1 but pushing a bit forward, making little steps 3) make 2 progress to longer and longer steps 4) once the student feels confident enough, take off and mount from one of those long steps. But I think I will try adding the brushes aid as step zero for a short time (less stress and some joy/fun from the beginning). Thank U for the idea!
Your method works well too as I have seen some that learned that way by gradually acclimating for the feel of the wheel. The hardest part with the brush method is just basically making one which really isn’t that bad either. I went through a few iterations before I finally settled in using Velcro to secure the modded brushes to the pedals. The DIY brushes are used for about 15 minutes to get the feel of how the wheel responds and vice versa. Afterwards, the newbie rider attempts to ride without the brushes. I was surprised myself how my friend Aram picked it up so quickly. I hope to make another video like this on other riders with different backgrounds to see how quickly they will progress also. Thanks for watching.
@@AdamU1016 Once the student graduates and masters the riding... you can make him to use to the brushes again for a short time. He can pay the lesson by sweeping your premises LOL.
Awesome idea with the brushes. You should have told him not to look down bit further in front of him. That's why he struggled after taking brushes off.
Hi .The brush idea has been around before. I think I'll try the fence or wall first. also I think I will master one log balance first to as it will help with getting on and off.
Yes. Solowheel came out with their brush technique a couple years ago. It was about $80 and they had a 2 minute video showing how effective it was. I made my own DIY training brush for about $20 in parts from Home Depot in anticipation of someday teaching a friend interested in EUC. The training brushes have been dormant for 2 years in my garage and I was glad I found them. I was really impressed how effective they were too. I have told several of my friends interested in EUC to try the wall and shopping cart techniques. However, it took them 2-3 weeks to master the wheel. I was able to take the time to teach a friend this time and I was glad I found those brushes. I was quite glad to be able to give real time lessons too as Aram was learning the wheel. I wanted to show the thinking processes of both the rider as well as the teacher’s point of view in my video. Hopefully the EUC newbie viewers can gain a better perspective in how to achieve some understanding of EUC mastery. Good luck in learning the EUC!
@@TheAnimeist - Aram used to roller blade, ice skate, and skateboard in his younger days. He certainly did surprise me. His strong motivation to learn and persistence also helped. If you are new to EUC, try the brush technique for about 15-20 minutes and then after that go brushless. Make sure your height of the brush is about 1/2” inch shorter than the pedal height so you can turn. You can adjust the height of the brush by adding more blocks. Just be persistent and you will get it. Make sure you gear up too. Good luck to you!
so after trying the brush initially, and comparing with just doing scooter kickstart exercise in open area without it, i must agree with some of my friends who questioned it - the brush might actually have hindered my learning, at least in my case of riding on v10f which has pretty tall pedal height. for me the brush also catches the ground on one side therefore spin and turn the wheel uncontrollably
The brush is just a way to get used to the feel of standing on the pedals. My friend was on the brush for about 15 minutes acclimating to the feel of the EUC stance. Once that getting acquainted with the wheel is done, it is time to try riding without the brush.

This is brilliant! My new Imotion V5 just came this week & I've been trying to figure out the best way to start learning. BINGO! Training wheels (brushes). I'm totally going to a hardware store & buy brushes & some kind if webbing to attach the brushes to the wheel. Could you make a video about how you did that? Also where can I get a seat for my wheel? The only accessories I've seen are channeled extra upper leg pads & a carry bag/cover which I ordered. This has made me really confident that I can learn this quickly. Thank you so much. 👍☮️🌞🧠

Just go to a mall parking lot and use the mall's trolley to do rings around. Do not grip it hard, but just kinda "hover" your hands over it, barely leaning on it when needed to regain the balance. You'll push the trolley away in a record time not needing it anymore.

Question, just got a ninebot z10 and I’m learning how to ride it I can only really go 1-3 mph right now, it feels like there’s no self balancing, when I let go of the wall it seems to want to fall to the side constantly, is this normal? Does the self balancing work better when you gradually go faster? Or is it something else?
The EUC balances you in the forward and backward direction. It’s your job to do the side to side balance. That will come with practice practice practice. Use the DIY brushes to get a feel for how the wheel responds to your movements and vice versa. The DIY brushes will do the self balancing side to side for you so the brushes will help you relax and get acclimated to the mechanics of the wheels. Once you get acquainted with the brushes on (15-30 minutes of use), remove the brushes and try to wheel on your own. You will be shocked how easy it will be to gain victory of the steep learning curve. Good luck to you!
@@AdamU1016 Thanks man, I really appreciate it dude I was wondering if mine was broken but glad to hear what I’m experiencing is normal. Keep up the great work man, your videos are awesome 👍
The MTen would be harder to learn on than a 16” wheel. However, Aram in the video had no problem riding it after he mastered my 16” Nikola. Smaller wheels are harder to balance since any changes on road surface can affect a beginner rider’s balancing ability. My first wheel was actually a 12” wheel but I was able to learn on the 3rd day at 1 hour a day of practice. The MTen really is a fun wheel but at around 17 miles per hour I start to get the wobbles. For a starter wheel, the MTen will do. I used Velcro to secure the brushes. I connected a wood piece to the top of the brush area. In between the wood and the brush base I was able to insert the Velcro straps. Good luck to you!
Absolutely. Just check to make sure you have enough clearance so you can turn. You can vary the thickness of the wood insert to accommodate. Remember you only use the brushes for about 15 minutes to get the feel of the wheel. After that, you go brushless. Good luck to you!
@@lanze8114 - They are both excellent and are also 16” wheels. The Tesla V2 has 2.125 inch wheel versus the Nikola with 3” wheels. I have ridden both and they are pretty stable wheels at speed too. You can learn on either. The major difference is the price. I bought my Nikola for $2,300 at Ewheels. The Tesla V2 can be had for $1,350 which is a steal for such a wheel. My Nikola 100V can go max speed 45 mph while the Tesla about 35 mph. Taking into account the price and the specs, I feel you will be quite happy with the Tesla V2. It offers lots of room too as you advance in your skill as the wheel has great specs.

Yes. Same principle as training wheels but custom training wheels are rarely ever made for EUCs. This DIY is cheap and easy to make. I feel these are also more maneuverable than training wheels because I tried custom training wheels for my Fastwheel Eva Pro over 5 years ago. They were so stiff that I abandoned them after 2 minutes.
Waisted 30 bucks on this stupid ass idea. The blue brush is 4" the peddle height is 8" I'll need a 4" block off wood. Not to mention my peddles don't sit flush.. so..
Here is my original video on this brush. Hopefully it will help. I used screws to secure the brushes to the wooden blocks. I included the thickness of the combo of blocks and brushes together. This was enough to use on my KS18L and the Nikola for teaching. It really does work. Eventually I used Velcro to secure the brush/wood combo to the pedals. I threaded the Velcro straps between the wood and brush. Just loosen the screws and thread the straps. Tighten the screws to make the Velcro straps more secure. ruclips.net/video/Ebnx1n2Dk0g/видео.html You don’t want the brushes to be exact height as the pedal height as you won’t be able to maneuver at all. My setup above can basically work for most EUCs. What wheel do you have with 8” pedal height?
Wow, clever idea Dr. Miyagi😂😂😂.

This is fantastic
Thanks! This is the best way to learn. It helps tremendously too if there is an instructor to give real time input on what the rider is doing wrong.
If not possible, then keep these things in mind:
1.) Make sure you are well geared.
@@AdamU1016 Yes.. thnx.. nice tips to keep in mind, for anyone into their first steps of EUC riding.
Brilliant!
Thanks Bro!
@@AdamU1016 yes tell him is lucky to have you teach him i learned on my own in a car park after watching multiple videos much longer learning curve as a result. Learners to to master drills to perfect muscle menory alongside riding regular to see how well it improves your agility and ability.

That's a brilliant idea!!! Still waiting for my 1st euc to arrive. I'm hoping I can pick it up as fast as your friend did.
Thanks! Which wheel did you order?
@@AdamU1016 I placed an order for the 84V 512WH Mten3. Too bad the shipping is now delayed until mid November. I’ll just keep watching RUclips videos until then. Thanks for making these EUC videos!
Good luck!
@@AdamU1016 Will do. I like that shopping cart idea. Thanks for the great tips!
WOW! This is genius!
Thanks. I was surprised myself how my friend learned so quickly. He was also motivated to learn so that helped tremendously.
Creative and effective technique! Great job! Thanks
You’re welcome! Having a student who was highly motivated to learn also helped. Good luck to you if you are new to EUC.
why didn't i think of that. i was thinking of caster wheels but don't wanna drill a hole on the pedals or buy a honeycomb pedals to to accommodate the caster wheels. i ended up getting trekking poles today (haven't tried the wheel with it), but that looks better (i think).
That's a very good way. Nice nice
Thanks! I was quite impressed myself how quickly Aram learned it. I made the DIY 2 years ago but never had a chance to test it on anybody. I am so glad I used it on him. Easy and cheap DIY too.
@@AdamU1016 yeah I first saw this on a video solowheel had made
ruclips.net/video/XjOH5w0OpPw/видео.html but I didn't do it myself. Not a bad idea at all
@@UStride - I remember too but theirs was selling for about $80. My DIY is easier and a baaaagain at $20. 🤣.
I might have to try this
It really does work.
You will pick it up within minutes.
what a smart idea
Thanks! It really does speed up learning.
:) Good idea to clean the road!!!
Ha ha! Learning and cleaning the road is the way to go.
The skateboarding technique is a good way to teach. Keep body centered overed the wheel and have a firm grip with plant foot. push from beside the pedal. use arms for balance. focus forward on where you want go.
I like the skateboarding technique in learning the wheel. I actually explained that style starting at 4:55. Aram was pretty quick in catching on.

Oh I told him that several times but you don’t see it in the final video.
Great idea WELL DONE ,REALLY THIS WILL WORK .I WILL USE THIS MYSELF...WELL DONE.....KRSNA
Good luck to you. Patience and some speed when attempting to wheel will get you through. Roll it out and then attempt balance on the pedals.
@@AdamU1016 Aram was certainly a quick learner. Does he have experience in other board sports, or balance? Thank you.
Once that getting acquainted with the wheel is done, it is time to try riding without the brush.
absluteley genius ! beware of slipery underground ... i had wheelspin on wet street , its like cut off ....verry afraid situation , when riding first time and wear no gear .... hurt by 20 mile pretty well

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply. These brushes are quite easy to make. Check out my video Updated EUC DIY Training Brush.

Regarding a seat for your V5, I don’t think there is a custom seat for that. My Nikola did not have a custom seat either. I made my own DIY seat from a KS18L custom seat. Check out my video on this DIY to make the KS seat compatible with my Nikola. You can make your own version since the V5 has the same style trolley handle as the Nikola.

Well done 👍
can you do it in my backyard we need someon to clean the molds on the ground
You’ll have to get in line. I have many offers for that. 😂
This is brilliant!
Thanks! I was surprised myself how quickly Aram learned the wheel. I think this is one of the best training aids out there and it is so easy to build too.
Just go to a mall parking lot and use the mall's trolley to do rings around. Do not grip it hard, but just kinda "hover" your hands over it, barely leaning on it when needed to regain the balance. You'll push the trolley away in a record time not needing it anymore.
That is also a great way to learn. I have mentioned this technique to my friends too.
Time-wise, that’s like using a fast-charger is to the conventional charger!
Lol. Great analogy. It really does speed up learning.
Dang that was quick. Ok I need more space and speed. Harder to balance when it’s slow. Need to put some protection to minimize scratches
Aram was impressively a quick learner. The key thing was he was persistent and motivated.
You basically summarized the key points. Good luck to you!

Really wished I had learned about this back in July 2020. After 3 wks struggling with learning on the V10F with a walker, I just wanted to give up. Lol. Thanks. The brushes really are amazing in how quickly it taught Aram the ways of the wheel.
Are the student’s wrist guards on the wrong hands? Looks like he has the hard protective side up lol
They were on the proper way.
How did you secure the brushes onto the pedals
I placed the Velcro pads in between the top of the brush and another block of wood to give it height. Try to make the brush height at least 1/2” shorter than the pedal height to enable you to turn.
ruclips.net/video/sx6wIZEy5vc/видео.html

How would I mount the brushes ? Also I was thinking about the m10-3 as my first wheel what’s your thoughts on that ?
I want to learn, can i use ninebot z10 your DIY brush?
Absolutely. Just check to make sure you have enough clearance so you can turn. You can vary the thickness of the wood insert to accommodate. Remember you only use the brushes for about 15 minutes to get the feel of the wheel. After that, you go brushless. Good luck to you!

Yes. That is my Nikola 100V with modded seat from my KS18L custom seat.
Would you recommend the Tesla or Nikola as a 1st EUC for a newbie ?

Like training wheels same concept

Tighten the screws to make the Velcro straps more secure.
ruclips.net/video/Ebnx1n2Dk0g/видео.html
You don’t want the brushes to be exact height as the pedal height as you won’t be able to maneuver at all. My setup above can basically work for most EUCs. What wheel do you have with 8” pedal height?
Brilliant!
