I didn’t learn till I was 72ish. My first wheel was a 14” swag roller , to small to slow, I upgraded to a V8 f and it’s great and soon I will be getting a V11 cause it seems to have all the improvements I can use. Lots of country roads and more miles and I sure don’t need 50 mph. Oh the headlight is made for me ,it seems. Now I need a deer Deflector. Whoop whoop!

Riding an EUC is a challenge for your brains. Fun and scary! See reactions of people just telling them about unicycle ; at the same time a physical challenge to synchronize your brains gyro and the one of the wheel, also a psy and emotional challenge to dare leaning forward . Is a whole human life a kind of unicycle trip!?😉
I got a second hand monster a few days ago and using similar techniques taught in a video by wrong way I was up on it within an hour and riding up, down, and around my parking garage. I cant stress the one foot riding trick enough, it was the sole reason I was able to gain the confidence to put both feet on without using my hands. The acceleration one is spot on too, as soon as it gets unstable accelerating up to a healthy speed corrects it.
This clip using a belt and leaning forward is the most useful tips and no one .. literally no one has never ever mentioned it. The way `Chooch` presented it as authentic and honest one; it's truly mind-blowing.
I learned to ride a pedal unicycle 50 years ago at 10 years old in the hallway of our house. At 62 I'm considering a v14 for secondary transportation I can pack in my 70' Bronco in case of a breakdown. Thaughts?

For some beginners, it is easier and less tiring to use support (like one hand on a wall) to mount and launch, and learn to ride reasonably well before doing free mounts (no support).
Love the enthusiasm and the encouragement. I'm going to use the belt trick for sure, good tip. And who's the clown at the end. Super closed minded individual
ive been ridin for well over a year and im glad i watched this. the stuff you showed with trying to balance on one leg while holding on at the sides, and the belt thing...never considered doing either of those. i bet it could really help with learning to ride backwards which is something i can't do

Bro, I ordered my first EUC about 10 days ago and its due in the first of next week, Commander Mini, I want to thank you for this tutorial because I bet I have watched 2 dozen and all had some quality points, but for my 45 year-old brain, this tutorial made me feel like Neo learning Kung-Fu. Seriously, I feel like I get it. I will be patient with myself, but I swear I feel like I will ride at least a bit the first day. I have done daily yoga for years, that has to help because my balance is rock solid, even on one foot in all sorts of crazy poses. Ill let you know how it goes LOL.

@@Saurny It is my ninth day riding the COMMANDER MINI, my first PEV, I still cannot ride without holding on to the wall. More than anything else I am worried about rolling/breaking my ankle!
@@TheSkyHive For some people it can take a longer time. Your brain has learned to ride only with the help of the wall. you should only use the wall the first day as help. Try to be at a open area instead and do not be afraid of crashing. How are you doing now?
This is genuinely excellent instruction with a positive vibe. I have been teaching people to ride for years, but found a lot to steal for my own future efforts with friends. Well done.
Excellent. Maybe the best. Belt idea good, scratching and crashing your new EUC is a psychological barrier to learning. My V5F if i raise the handle and ride backwards does the same. Eventually it becomes a crutch, but once you ride around the block with the handle up, you know you definitely can do this. 2nd point, speed, shoot out fast, once you get a little speed, the unit becomes self-balancing and you just stand there. Then came the death wobbles, another waypoint in your journey. EUCs are the ultimate PEV.
Learned to ride my first euc 2 months before, have to write down an advice. Check your pedals if they are always in paralell position. Mine hasn't opened right (sheman s) and for 1 month i was in crying pain,😢 didnt know what i screwed up, always falled down for hours of trying. Repaired it since and it works fine.
Been riding for a couple weeks now on my Mten4. Got it up to 21.5 mph yesterday with no wobbles but it started beeping at me so I backed off. I used to wobble at 12-14 mph. I think it just took time to build my leg strength.
It's been 3 weeks, and i still dont have it down. It's time to pull out the belt. I can't wait to see if that helps me later today. Thank you for the suggestion!
😎Nice 😎 Kids climbing frames are a good place to learn too. Especially if they have the rubber soft play surfaces. Hold the climbing frame, work along ladders etc... I counted 5 hrs before I could ride in a straight line. The soft surface is actually harder than on hard surfaces and the one I learned on had humps around too so learned orientation switches going along angled ridges too 👍🏻 They are like phones though, as soon as you k ow they are going to get stratched and banged up you just jump off them in a crash ha ha ha 😂 Teuly brilliant pieces of kit.
Great video! Some or most people say that you always should focus on standing up straight? Wouldn't it be harder to learn when leaning forward at the beginning?
Hey chooch as always great video, super helpful tips! Can you please do a chooch style riding range test for the V12 HT or HS? I would really love another range test like the one you did for the V11!

@johnhunter8802 I was gonna tell you my experience, but my package never delivered. UPS is saying it got damaged 🗿🗿. They probably didn’t want to deliver a 140 pound package up three flights of stairs 💀💀
Another ONE! Great video Chooch, thank you for helping us newbies. Wish I had the belt tip when I was starting out, would have saved my s18 from a few scuffs. Any tips for your feet falling asleep every 5 to 10 miles? I have a few hundred miles on my euc but the problem persists.
I've done 300 miles already, 2 main things that help with feet fatigue. First - ensure your heel is at the end of the pedal, not sticking out. Second, learn to lift your heel for 10-20s when riding. Same with your toes, it's enough to release the tension and have no fatigue anymore. You need to practise it for a while though I can even do it at 20 mph speed and as soon as I feel fatigue I just do that a couple of times and no more issues!
@@leilani343 - I switched to hi-top hiking boots, hard sole, but cushioned on inside, which helped the most. There is less "feel", but it's more comfortable. Foot position isn't going to help much.
i started with KS16S ( after wacthing your vidéo ) yea original ^^ but let me tell you : GOOD MUSIC + a kingsong KS16S for beginners is a perfect match .. know i just got a V11 . My brain doesnt like the sensation he is trying to compare of course the V11 is way more heavy.. i feel like a drive a school BUS ( i know most YTBers say its like driving a LEXUS or a cadillac or smth but i feel i fly more on my little KS ... what i dream is a KS 16 S with more range ( we always want that) and yea maybe suspension but for the rest i really hope i will survive and appréciate the new learning curve of this V11.. im not the kind of guy who want to offroad and stuff like that or just a bit of trail. What i foundstrange . most of the professionnal riders ( i understand why you love BIG wheels but still ... im not yet ready to tell i enjoy to ride a 18 with a bigger weight./ Feel less manouvrable / more slow to turn ( hope is just a wrong impression because when i see you ride this beast > you rox as always . Cheers from belgium anyway/
Great video I have a few questions. 1st I have an KS16S that I am learning onand getting very proficient but... I have been experiencing knee pain any suggestions for strengthening exercises besides riding more. In addition I also have the V12HT that I will be starting to ride should I start without power pads first before the pads?
I.juat got me a ninbot A1 for learning because i will get me a kingsong S22 but after i learned to ride save so a slow wheel first before you get a very fast one with 55mph
Already seems like I’m riding like a pro on my V12. Recently started learning to ride backwards, talk about throwbacks to when I first started riding. Slowly getting better with that, riding longer distances, still feels freaky because the brains trying to process those new movements. Just trying to relax while standing more upright than trying to force the wheel. Was that a male “Karen” you ran into at the end of your video or just making small talk with the guy? Only caught “would you just rather read a book” at the end. Oh! U-Stride’s was talking about pairing EUC riders for challenges. Might wanna check that out.
Very interesting and informative discussing the dominant foot. I am right handed but my left foot is always facing forward on my skateboard or my surfboard or my scooter. I can balance and steer on my left foot regardless of what my right foot is doing, whether I'm pushing off the pavement or just hanging out in the air, my left foot is my centerline of weight and I can steer with it. So just like a skateboard, the left foot is planted on the EUC and I push off with my right foot and slowly bring it up?
I have a couple stupid questions.. How important is balance for riding an euc? I mean, if someone has horrible balance would they be able to ride eventually and will it help with their balance? Is a bigger more powerfull wheel easier to learn on because it balances your weight better? Is there a high-powered wheel that is exceptionally easy to learn on compared to others?
I just subscribed to your channel Chooch; I'm laughing so hard I have tears running down my face when you described the guy with the cigarette. Anywhooo, I'm itching to buy my first uni, will be referring to this to learn how to ride. #thanks
@@choochtech Gracias senor. I have a professional exam to prep and sit for and When I pass it, I’m going to buy myself a uni. I’ve got a long narrow hallway I can use to get my bearings. I like what you said about the gyroscopic system. It does the work apparently. We just have to trust it. I will be in touch but thanks for this channel. I’ve subscribed.
I don't know why the wheel manufacturer's don't all produce training pedal attachment wheels. They attach to each pedal, with a wheel beneath, so you can stand on the pedals, with the EUC stationery, without falling off. You can then learn to slowly move in a straight line, speeding up, and slowing down. I made my own, which were height adjustable, allowing tilt and EUC movement in an arc path. As confidence grows, the height can be raised, then one, then both training attachments removed.
Hey CHOOCH, my first electric vehicle of any sort, COMMANDER MINI from E-Wheels...I used your code BTW, and I am struggling with EVERYTHING LOL, but specifically stock pad placements. Any hard and fast rules for adjusting EUC pads for a beginners? One more question: What settings should I have selected in the app for a complete NOOB? Thanks!
Use a piece of paper or cardboard behind the pads get them where you want them and pull it out from behind. It makes it where you can adjust them without fighting the velcro
If you are just learning, don’t use the pads to start with, they are just another complication. Once you can mount, ride, turn, brake and dismount without too much difficulty…then start using the pads. Personally I rode about 500 kms before I put pads on the wheel. Anyway..good luck and enjoy 👍
Important note: Everyone's brains work differently. My first EUC was a 60lb+ model and I struggled with the balanced, 1 leg 4-5ft stable riding approach when teaching myself. I did the kitchen stuff, then I just kept free mounting and flailing my arms to balance until I was able to push past the lack of balance and get to ~7-8mph, where I could cruise around the parking lot. It was ~30 minutes in the kitchen, then 30 minutes of parking lot before I could ride. All of these tips are GREAT -- but for order of operations, listen to your brain and what it needs and adjust accordingly. My brain needed to feel what it was like to be moving while balanced. After that, low speed riding was SO MUCH easier because I could trust the stability.
At 7 to 8 mph, most EUCs will become stable and self-balancing (left | right). I was also using arm flailing for balance and direction control at 3 to 5 mph in a tennis court, then moved to a long straight where I felt comfortable riding faster. At around 7 mph, I no longer had to make any balance corrections, and could just stand still while riding in a straight line. I knew that nothing had clicked, but instead I was just going fast enough for my EUC to become stable. Learning to turn by tilt steering (inner foot down, outer foot up), took a bit longer to do well, having to coordinate how much to tilt the EUC versus how much to lean. At lower speeds, the EUC is tilted more than the rider leans, at higher speeds, the EUC is tilted less than the rider leans.
I learned to ride seated first and now I am struggling with standing riding because of wobbles at low speeds. Am I clamping the EUC between my legs too hard or are my feet wrong....?

I would really love another range test like the one you did for the V11!
The lean forward tip was a game changer for me to start smoothly.
Do you have any tips for turning?
I'm learning with a V8S for weeks now
Best video ive seen on this bro.. My FIRST wheel is on the way THE ET MAX!!! .. i dont fk around lol.. i super appreciate the belt trick. I was worried about scratching it. Thank god i can stert off with powering that baterry down to 20% to learn... appreciate the video !!! Thank you from 🇨🇦
Chooch Tech Ngl, I started with the inmotion v13 💀💀💀
I'm learning on a Sherman S with no pads. It's....something. lol glad to know other people are learning on heavy wheels too!
@@EUCvibes thanks, that's what I've been doing but it doesn't get rid of it. I might need to just get flat shoes and see if that helps.
@@leilani343 - I switched to hi-top hiking boots, hard sole, but cushioned on inside, which helped the most. There is less "feel", but it's more comfortable. Foot position isn't going to help much.
I used gel insoles it worked great for foot pain
i started with KS16S ( after wacthing your vidéo ) yea original ^^ but let me tell you : GOOD MUSIC + a kingsong KS16S for beginners is a perfect match .. know i just got a V11 .
What i foundstrange . most of the professionnal riders ( i understand why you love BIG wheels but still ... im not yet ready to tell i enjoy to ride a 18 with a bigger weight./
Feel less manouvrable / more slow to turn ( hope is just a wrong impression because when i see you ride this beast > you rox as always .
Chooch: *Explains at length how to ride an EUC for beginners*
The spider in the kitchen: 👀👀👀👀
@@_Meriwether lol!
thanks for the step-by-step. the best way to learn anything for sure.
Awesome video Brother!
This was informative and hilarious at the same time.
Thanks for the tip about the strap. Liked!
Hi does the grizla flow big fit well on the V12?
Already seems like I’m riding like a pro on my V12. Recently started learning to ride backwards, talk about throwbacks to when I first started riding.
Slowly getting better with that, riding longer distances, still feels freaky because the brains trying to process those new movements. Just trying to relax while standing more upright than trying to force the wheel.
Was that a male “Karen” you ran into at the end of your video or just making small talk with the guy? Only caught “would you just rather read a book” at the end.
Oh! U-Stride’s was talking about pairing EUC riders for challenges. Might wanna check that out.
That belt is one hell of a good idea thanks
Worst Idea in the video. Didn't help me one bit.
😂, As a reading fanatic and avid EUC rider I can say with confidence - Both activities are worth while, respectively for various reasons.
great content... love the positivity
#thanks
"wouldn't you rather do something more worth while like reading a book?" 😂
How do you stop? Also, I live on a hill, how do I descend?
just lean back, a little side to side carve motion also helps. But leaning back is how you brake. Same for hills just lean back
@@choochtech Gracias senor.
Thanks Chooch, big help!
Thanks for the tips ! 🎩
story at 8:16 is hilarious! can totally see bro-hawk with the cigarette doing his thing
Thanks for the tips and information👍🏼☺️
This guy seems so friendly
Is this the Ninji guy??? Great video!
Where were such similar videos 6 years ago when I bought my first unicycle and learned to ride by myself? 😂
the last 3 seconds of the video is where i learned the most. lmfao
Clever tips, thanks mate ;)
Any time!
9:40 "now get that belt your dad whipped- ... now this is a hack!"
Excellent video.
Does carving only help at high speeds?
