I tried 35psi on the stock tire as well and same feeling....unstable. Tire pressure is one of those things that is personal to each ridder I believe.....almost as much as pad placement. Great vid and good advice.
As an avid snow boarder, skateboarder, and board sport enthusiast after having tried both euc and onewheel. The EUC is far superior, I encourage you to get one along with your onewheel eventually.
This riding tips series is brilliant! Stuff about posture, ppl can really see how this transfers to city riding too on Choochtech's short city ride vid wearing a suit type outfit. Having this loose but controlled posture also helps blend with the ground when the time comes. Hope it doesn't ofcourse, but we all know that being able to fall properly and safely is a key skill in EUC riding that keeps us all on the roads or trails and out of hospital!
That garage door lubricant is pretty good for stuff like EUC suspension parts. Any of the “sticky” penetrating oils seem to work well. I actually make my own lubricant/water displacement spray that I use on everything because I live in the rainforest in an off grid situation with not enough storage space so everything is always getting wet. I’ve been tweaking the mix to perfect it for my needs over a couple years. It’s nice and cheap and doesn’t wash off easily. Does a great job of keeping all my stuff from rusting and now I don’t sweat it when a downpour comes and I have tools and toys getting wet. If anyone is interested in the ingredients let me know.
I have an S22 and have been keeping the sliders 'dry' Won't the garage door spray collect all the dust particles to form a 'grinding paste' after a while? That's what happened to my original 'non-sliders' before I installed bearings. I like the idea - just don't want to make my own form of grinding paste.
Great video. I'm definitely going to try these techniques the next time I try to go off road. I really liked the tip of crouching down to lower my center of gravity and braking late before going into a curve. In definitely going to try those.
I realize this was posted a year ago but you know. One good advice that I feel is one of the top end advice tips I have learned. That is “trust the wheel” ie. you may feel unbalanced and in the back of your mind your thinking “jump” but if you stay the course and adjust your wheel towards the unbalance. You will prevail… after awhile this will be on your mind where your feeling of bailing is replaced with a skill level of being able to learn feeling your wheel and trust it. To then ride the course and in that, there is a feeling that comes with it where it falls into the multitude of all the amazing ways a wheel can become one of the hopefully many loves of your life. Thats when you find yourself truely, a changed man/ woman.
Offroad EUC is is beyond cool, but being behind the curve with knowledge of video production techniques, how in the heck do you get these shots? It looks like you have a drone matching your movements & flying 15 feet ahead of you. Maybe I'm too easily impressed, but across the board, this is one impressive video! thanks!
Lotta good tips with some awesome scenery holy shit the background is incredible dude you know how there is the Marty tour let's have a Chooch Tour that is so beautiful I wouldn't wanna go fast I'd be like looking all around in like checking up the lake was that a fish jumped what the heck whoa checking out trees I was at a bear I don't know how you go so fast now unless you just ride that scenery all the time probably I live in Humboldt County it's beautiful great trails but a bunch of roots from the redwoods always up and then back down very steep very quick drops usually some water and mud but not that expanded view that's incredible just different you know I'd love to try it out some time
If an EUC company ask your advice to make an ultimate street wheel for 2024, and you can have 3 attributes of previous existing wheels. What would those 3 attributes be, and why? Thanks!!!
It doesn’t look to me like you’re gripping the wheel very hard with your knees, is that accurate Chooch? When I ride my S18 on the road, I grab it pretty hard between my legs to keep the wobbles at bay. Is that just how you ride, or is it particular to off road or this wheel? Or am I wrong?
New rider. Just got an Mten4 for my first wheel. Loving it so far, but I get bad speed wobbles. Gonna check the wheel balance but hopefully I can learn to handle the wobbles so I can ride fast like chooch
make sure your psi is higher on the mten 4, I recommend about 45 psi, for most weights on the mten 4, and just keep practicing the wobbles will go away soon. Also some good power pads will help alot.
Wow, that's a small one for the first wheel, it might demand more effort to control. But I hope you'll get it quite soon👍 Here's a video of high speed ride on Mten4 for you, for inspiration ruclips.net/video/gmVGtPLUTR0/видео.html
wobbles on the mten4 is normal. i found on my mten4 pad set up is the key. i took my T4 stock pads and moded them and omg my mten4 was riding so beautiful i got new pads for it and now my mten4 sucks. going to put my T4 pads back on it
Chooch can you do a tutorial type video where you show how to get around using EUCs on the street. It varies state to state but generally speaking its similar. Bicyclist have videos showing the rules of the road and how to maneuver safely but I feel like we dont have much of that in the EUC community and thus alot of EUC riders stick to the sidewalks
A lot of good information. I think I got the most from your look at tire pressure. I've gravitated toward very high tire pressure (45+) as a light rider, 160 lbs rider weight. I'll definitely think more about that for off road in the future.
I'm 62, started riding my first time on an EUC 2 months ago. I got me the V11. Where I live it's hard to find a flat and smooth area to practice. Also no grass area that is relative flat and big enough, plus it rains a lot so the ground is most of the time soggy. I started to learn on a very small concrete parking lot. Now in starting to do ok and want to go on the bike path and little trails but as soon as the surface gets just a little bit uneven I loose control. I can now get up to 25kph on smooth streets but here it's not allowed to do so. I wish someone made a video for total newbies who go from smooth surface to easy trail walking paths. What to be aware of, posture, loose or tight squeeze the wheel, ... etc.
Any tips for V12 ht re-occuring flat tire issues? Currently dealing with a second flat now... First flat happened on mere second day of light practice and now a few months later after light riding with a better tube.
@@choochtech I put in slime twice after getting each flat and it didn't work. I used about 16oz for the first flat, the tube was torn at the base of the valve. The second flat I have now with the replacement tube, I put in 8 oz and it works only until I ride down the street for about a block...I don't think the slime actually work for tubes because of how they can stretch...
I used slime, smoothed the edges around the valve hole with a rotary tool, carefully put gaff tape on the rim valve hole so the tube spout for its valve doesn't touch the rim, and I use a pressure higher than 35psi, mainly because my first stock tube busted right after I got it and rode a bit, tube hole was sharp with jaggies...its been good so far after those mods and I weigh like 300lbs, slimming up tho
I’d love to see a video on all of your internal settings as far as front to back angles and right and left cut off angles… Rider mode etc. I know it’s going to be a little bit machine dependent but I would love to hear why why you pick the settings you pick.
Idk what the lube for the garage door is made of but silicon spray lube is my go-to for everything it plays nice with electronics rubbers and plastics I use it on my skates, bikes and rc cars
Hey chooch love your content! I am having a hard time picking between v12 HS and v12 HT I want more range but I don't know if the issues with the V12 HS are a deal breaker like the rim and motherboard. Which one do you think is better I need help so I don't pick the wrong on and want the other. Thanks
@@AlexRomanFlorida the I think about it the more I’m leaning in that direction. The Extreme is interesting as well but I want to see how it does on the street.
Do you have any recommendations on safety gear?? I’ve had a knee surgery a while ago so kinda want to have some good body armour lol. I’m in my 40 s. So heal time is more time lol
Thanks for showing us the neat PEVs! The Begode Falcon is very interesting. Hopefully there’s something similar in the US for exhibitions. I don’t mind the AI voice at all BTW 😁
Dide how do you ride without inner leg contact with wheel. Sometime offroad I can get away with that on my extreme. On the street with my extreme I have to have medium pressure contact with 1 leg or both legs especially over 40mph or the wheel will always be wobbling. The wheel feels loose and solid when I force leg contact.
Use your core and core power more than your leg grip if that makes sense. You can really regulate your balance with core strength to where you won’t really need to use any leg contact. Try an indo board out to practice the technique. It is also very fun. They are called indo balance boards. Cheers!
@@choochtech I hear you I ride both ways. the extreme is very top heavy and gets very wobbly at higher speed. All my other wheels I dont dare touch the shell unless im carving. THe extreme is very loose without posting up a leg on theframe to stabilize it. Its very strange. I cant really explain. Im going to throw hinko 241 tire on it tonight to see if it helps with wobbling. Also I think that tire sealant stuff puts wheels out of balance. WHats your take.
Question, do you have any issue riding on Colorado? I'm somewhat nearby but am paranoid a cop will pull something. I see plenty of "no motorized vehicles" where I ride lol
I think wherever you are in the US you’ll probably find that unless you’re in a place crowded with pedestrians or there’s some obvious potential of endangering yourself or others you’ll be fine. Most cops just seem to give us a look like they wish they had one when we pass by. If you have open areas and trails nearby that have “no motor vehicle” signs just remember you’re not riding a dirt bike. Stay off private property and ride to your hearts content. Someone can speak up if they don’t want you to ride somewhere, you won’t get in trouble. 🤙

I might make a video about how I find riding spots. What state are you in, maybe I can showcase some great riding spots in your state you can try. Some states has way less public land, for trails. Western united states has land that is not owned by private owners abundantly. On the east coast for example finding a trail like this would be very hard, but not impossible.
