I can’t wait to see it reviewed and have a test drive. I will be looking to choose between this and the seal. Though I don’t understand why designers have to put those big black plastic fittings around the wheel arches, I really don’t like the look of it. It makes the wheels look smaller and takes away from the sporty look.
Looks really good but I just saw that the Zeekr 7X will be available here in Australia about the same time. The Zeekr 7X is about the same size as the Sealion 7 but looks a bit higher spec inside and a lot higher spec performance wise with the top spec having AWD with 480Kw and a 100Kwhr battery. It also has roof rails which is high on my list of priorities
The Sealion 6 has just arrived in NZ. Which I thought would mean the Sealion 7 would be right behind it, arriving by the end of 2024 like Australia. However, when I asked about it, I was told “not for the foreseeable future”. Likely due to the end of government rebates and the introduction of road user charges for EVs, sales of BEVs in NZ have fallen off a cliff, so BYD may not be in a hurry to bring the 7 here. It’s a shame because, just like the Model Y is a more practical vehicle than the 3, the Sealion is a more practical family vehicle than the Seal.
Yep those RUCs will kill the EV market in NZ. Victorians were spitting chips over 2.5cents a kilometer and got it overturned. What are Kiwis paying now? 8.5 cents/km with RUC + recording fee ? That is ridiculous.

@@jezza6575 BYD's Automotive Gross Margin (excludes low-margin electronics division) was roughly 10 points higher than Tesla, excluding regulatory credits, in 1Q.
