    Tesla Y is smaller and has over 900l of boot space. SL7 needs to have at least 700 to be competitive. The boot space on Seal is a massive disappointment compared to Tesla 3.
    Disclaimer, I proudly drive an Atto 3 with 455l of boot space but need 700l for touring. The 230kW with ~550 range sounds good provided the boot isn't another packaging disappointment.
    Otherwise I might just buy Model Y LR and be done with.
    Also Sam, what is the towing capacity? Hopefully at least as good as Tesla Y, Kia EV6 and Ioniq 5 at 1600kg.

The Zeekr 7X is about the same size as the Sealion 7 but looks a bit higher spec inside and a lot higher spec performance wise with the top spec having AWD with 480Kw and a 100Kwhr battery. It also has roof rails which is high on my list of priorities

    The Sealion 6 has just arrived in NZ. Which I thought would mean the Sealion 7 would be right behind it, arriving by the end of 2024 like Australia. However, when I asked about it, I was told “not for the foreseeable future”. Likely due to the end of government rebates and the introduction of road user charges for EVs, sales of BEVs in NZ have fallen off a cliff, so BYD may not be in a hurry to bring the 7 here.
    It’s a shame because, just like the Model Y is a more practical vehicle than the 3, the Sealion is a more practical family vehicle than the Seal.

    • @larryevans6739
      @larryevans6739 3 месяца назад

      @@jezza6575 BYD's Automotive Gross Margin (excludes low-margin electronics division) was roughly 10 points higher than Tesla, excluding regulatory credits, in 1Q. Tesla does get more revenue in regulatory credits, more government grants and more in tax subsidies, that inflates their net. But the difference in cost of goods sold and selling price does not give them the same margin. It is right there in their financial statements. And, because Tesla does not have dealers, they get to count retail sales price in their gross, whereas BYD has to use the wholesale price vehicles sell at to dealers (which inflates Tesla's gross vs. BYD). However, Tesla's billions in regulatory credit sales are limited by the amount of people who need to buy credits. Grants are one time. Tesla's net profits are not scalable. So, if BYD sells more cars, at a higher gross margin overall, their profits go up more. If they inflate export prices, margin goes up more.

It's not. When you're comparing a model to the class standard (in this case, very obviously the Model Y), you need to present data in the form of a table that supports your opinion. This is not just a problem for your channel but for a lot of RUclipsrs who want to be treated as media experts but don't behave like media experts because they don't converse in data they converse in claims. Judge a foreign language based name purely by its pronunciation, really?

    Disappointed about this video,
    you know nothing about Sealion 7 yet you talk about it as if you know about it.

    Tesla must be much better than the BYD, the BYD doesn't have one pedal driving I believe this could be why Tesla is better?

    Tesla is 1000% more valuable and better than a BYD car. BYD are okay but not fantastic value or function.

      Rubbish. Tom respected Aussie EV car tester has owned 4 Teslas, still owns 2 but prefers to drive his BYD Seal around Sydney as better in almost every way. He uses the Teslas for long trips due to the Tesla SuperCharging network.
      Euro NCAP has just downgraded Teslas. Personally I find the Tesla exterior design is stale and interior spartan/cheap. Once Elon gets his 50 billion Tesla will struggle in the face of BYDs model onslaught. Don't see a BYD you like? Just wait a few weeks.. Personally a Seal 06gt would be my choice.

    Making fun of BYD's use of Chinese names for it's vehicle is the same as making fun of the Chinese language. It is racist.
