    Take a look at the Ground Effect hunting seat by 03 Outfitters. It's super sturdy and very lightweight, plus it's extremely quiet. I've used it in temperatures in the single digits and it never made a squeak. It will also fit inside of a regular sized backpack. It's the only seat I use for deer hunting anymore.
    I forgot to mention that it's made in the USA by two Marine Corps veterans, which is also a plus.

    I've got a folding chair from Hunter's Specialties that's like the Chinese special there. I bought it several years ago on a blowout sale for $9.99. Still using it today. Has the same storage pouch underneath! I just love it!
    I have found though, that the less I carry into the woods, the better. At 56, balance and stealth are not what they used to be so the less I'm finagling with, it's just easier to do my exploring without them. When I find those spots I want to watch for a spell, I just find something in the area; a dead fall, a stump, a weird growing trunk, or maybe a rock. It it's wet, I wear wet gear so I can deal with the elements properly. Like you, the ground is cold so I try to stay off it, but I do okay on stumps and such. A rock is still cold... I heard you thinking there... but if I'm scouting, I'm probably not going to be on it very long anyway. When I find spots I want to hunt, I'll prep the spot I want to put it on, then bring it in when I hunt.
    If I find a really good coverage spot, I'll bring in a ladder stand when the time is right. If I scout too late, I'll wait a year. I love watching trail cams! Deer are "in their element" until the guys show up to put up a stand only a week before the season, or the day before the season starts. The deer totally change their patterns, so I try to go in when there is plenty of time to acclimate to the change.

      @@Hunting4Hookers We have common ground for sure! My favorite thing to do is "go find deer." I love reading the weather, terrain, pressure, food source, bedding areas... putting all these things together and successfully finding deer. When I was younger, I kept jumping them and things happened too fast to get a good shot. Once I learned how to make them "get up" vs jump up, my stalking success improved greatly. There is nothing more satisfying than dragging a deer back to camp when all the standers are complaining that "there's no deer out there." And it makes a guy proud when he overhears his pappy telling the other guys, "If there's any deer around, Kenny'll find 'em." Problem is, I'll shoot 'em too! lol
      I still enjoy a stand, a drive, or even the unexpected porch opportunity, freezer meat is freezer meat, but stalking, finding sign, tracking, plotting/strategizing, and bringing one home, there is NOTHING else that compares to that!

      I hunted like this a lot in my youth and now that I’ve gone back to it, I enjoy hunting a lot more!
      And you are correct! Freezer meat is freezer meat!😁

    My two favorite ground hunting seats (for use on trees) is the Millenium M300/350 Tree Seat and the newest generation Fanatic Outdoors Low Down hammock style seat. The Low Down gets the #1 spot when going light and small is the priority because it only weighs a couple of pounds and its storage bag isn't much larger than a loaf of bread. I've done all day sits in both. Check 'em out.

    I like the way you hunt slow and precise. I go in taking the minimum in a old fanny pack and most of the time a foam seat for the ground or logs. Hitting 70 before season I don't carry a stand unless I found something not to far 30-45 minutes. Keep the videos coming they are interesting. Carl from Ky.

    Good video, just wonder if you know the exact weight of the Trophy Chair? The website has the dimensions but not the weight. I've been looking at the Pac Seat & like what I've saw but $225.. Tough on an old man fixed income lol.. Have a nice weekend..

    • @Hunting4Hookers
      @Hunting4Hookers  Год назад +1

      I’ll see if I can weigh it and get back. It’s not heavy and I strap it to my backpack. Some folks just throw the strap over their shoulder and go.
      It’s built really well and for less than $35 with shipping I don’t think it can be beat. But that’s my opinion.
      Thanks for your comment and watching the video! I really appreciate it!👍

      I didn’t like it because every time I moved the entire hammock moves and looks like a sail boat changing direction.

    I think Dead Ringer hommack hunting chair is much lighter and more portable

    • @Hunting4Hookers
      @Hunting4Hookers  Год назад +1

      The hammock chairs are nice and look pretty comfortable.
      My opinion is they are too big of a profile, and everything you move a little the whole chair moves with you.
      I really like the Trophy chair because it’s light weight, easy to put on a backpack ,super quiet, low profile and creates no extra movement.
      But my needs and opinions aren’t the only one that’s correct.
      Thanks a lot for watching and sharing your opinion buddy!

      The original dead ringer hammock seat is pretty cool. Killed a 9 pointer out of mine and I still have it. The newer one with two legs isn’t so, though. I won’t go into why the two legged design sucks but it really does, unfortunately.

    I am trying sitting vs climbing for the first time this year, so thanks for the tip and I will seriously consider the Trophy Treestands seat you recommended. Because you asked for options, here is a simple DIY option that I found on youtube. Some folks call them Torges style seats. Very easy to make with stuff that most of us have on hand, and you can add things like a cushion to make it even more comfortable - ruclips.net/video/ZTtPHYleogU/видео.html&ab_channel=DennisJackson
