Guys for strum pattern Do down down down up down once for g and d cord and then do down down down up down twice for the Aminor and c chord
So i have to do :
G down down down up down
D down down down up down
AM down down down up down twice
C down down down down up down twice ?
Because it doenst do the same thing
Strum it however you feel like. As long as it fits the rythme of the tune. Please dont get tied to stiff, structured "strumming patterns".

Thank you ! ...I've just recently started trying to pick up the mandolin... I'm definitely not an accomplished mandolinist yet.....Maybe someday...lol.....Simple instruction such as this is a really big help ! ....I can use all the help I can get....I've been playing guitar all of my life....I thought picking up the mandolin would be a lot easier than it is....It is absolutely nothing similar to guitar....Not to me anyways.....Thanks again !!

I'm confused. You say in Am high string is open, but it's 5th fret on the graphic.
+ffmfg it can be either :) if you play it open it's an E note which is in the Am (A,C,E) chord, and if you play 5th fret then it's an A note which is also in the Am chord. Just depends what sound you prefer :)
Jasmine McManus thanks for the explanation, I really didn't like how high my E string was sounding, so I played around and found a better chord for my sound.

There's a lot easier Am chord that you can play with two fingers: 5200
O.M.G. Thanks! my fingers are small and it was too hard for me to cover 2.2 with one finger.. not to talk about the pain with my pinky! lol

Chords on the mandolin only use two fingers? This guy is not a mandolin player.
you play that a minor chord different from the chord chart you showed. you should explain it better. have to give you a thumbs down for that
Either way is correct. Both notes are in the Am scale....
