Yep. Opened the hood, found oil spray all over the top of the engine. Traced back to the ccv. As I recently bought this used '17, I just replaced the clogged, saturated filter. Getting the mod kit is on the to do list tho. Crank case vent valves sure have gotten a lot bigger and more expensive since the 70s....
@@kingrutse3278 If I didn't have to jack the engine up to get the oil pan off to replace the seal, I'd definitely have fixed it by now - Not a daily driver so I'm not too worried about it. If ARod wasn't in FL, I'd send some business his way.
Just waiting for him to pass through VA. I have whatever tool is needed, just no vehicle lift. Lemme know ARod - you're welcome any time. I can hold the light for you. ;)
No leaks on mine. Oh wait, mines a 7.3 and it isn’t leaking. But when the oil pain eventually starts to leak I have to disconnect everything and lift my engine because of engineer Johnny never working on anything. Hope you’re enjoying not working for a dealer anymore!,
Must be the same Dealer that priced a complete 7.3 engine for a 1995 f350 the customer brought the truck to me for a second opinion and it turned out to be injector harness shorted out at the valve cover gaskets but the dealer said it wasn’t worth fixing the engine that was blown up
Hello 👋. You fixed my upper oil pan leak. You did a great job. 5 years later and no problems. No leaking Thank You Hope you have a good day. Jeff sc. 😎
Had a dealer quote me 6k for upper oil pan and front cover. I said I brought it in for a coolant leak. They were insistent that is what it was. After some Google research and looking at the truck it was the crossover tube and the pump was starting to leak as well. I asked before I left with the tech that showed me why it was their diagnosis can you explain why the entire valley of the motor has coolant in it then? Wouldn’t you start there before the bottom of the motor
My 17 Cummins ccv was restricting flow enough to build pressure where my oil cap would pop up. Once i replaced the filter that all stopped every diesel has some blow by that is inevitable its when it gets excessive you need to address it before you have catastrophic failure. This is the second filter at 76000 miles the first one at 36000 miles and it did the same thing then to. Its considered excessive when you flip the cap upside down and it bounces up and dances around mine dosent do this it just turn from engine vibration. A primitive test.
2011 with 152k miles leaking on driver side very little not making a mess yet. CCV Good the same as your video, doesn’t blow cap off. Assuming it’s injector seals
I am surprised you & Ray do not use a Borescope Inspection Camera with a light probe to look for outside engine oil leaks. It would make life so much easier.
my 16 has an oil leak! Took it to the dealer for an engine light and why it was there the oil leak suddenly became excessive. $110.00 for the engine light but the oil leak was going to be $5,500.00 to fix. I picked it up to do my own inspection and found all but one of the accessible bolts on the front of the upper oil pan loose. That don't happen!!!! As expected I found 3 of the vacuum pump bolts literally finger loose. The leak is back to being a drip and I still have a problem. Unfortunately a person ran a stop sign this week and my truck is in the shop getting a new front end! I suspect my problem is the front main seal.
Here is the number on the parts box FC3Z-6A785-C for 2015-16 for the one my shop just recently put in. They put the old one inside it so I could get a picture of the injector numbers on the OEM decal. It was on back order for a few months so they may be in stock.
My 17 F350 with 72k, has both of those symptoms of leakage. The rear driverside doesnt leak a mark on driveway, but evident it ia there and front axle driveshaft u joint...😢😢😢
Is there an updated box for the 2019, and does the box have to be replaced at some point? Ant the moment I'm just replacing the filter every oil change.
Come on down to Florida so I can have someone to take my LCFs to! I was balls deep into fixing one last month because my dealer wanted $8700!!! And no one else will take them.
Just put a morroso oil pan on my 7.3. 427k. Didnt have to pull the engine. Plus o rings on the oil cooler. On my back in the driveway for less than 500.

I’ve ran the dye in my oil to follow the leak and it’s coming directly at the corner of the oil pan And I even had a few other technicians look at it and say yeah it’s a simple fix. It’s right at the oil pan so I figured I would give this one diesel shop some work because they’ve been pretty slow and I let him check out told him where the leak was, and they tried to give me a number Such as $8000 to do the job and I said what are you talking about? I said the leak is coming from the oil pan and they said we have to pull the cab off and go through everything to make sure it’s leaking from there and I said I’ve had other technicians already go through this whole truck and tell me exactly I’ve gotten quotes for about $800-$1000 to get it fixed which I was OK with but I was trying to help shop out and give them some work but they were trying to take advantage of me for almost $8000 and the gasket was probably $25 gasket And the 6.0 diesel are known for leaking at the back right corner. I just deal with a small bed plate leak, but I'm not ready to rotisserie the engine for that.

With a 2019 6.7 is the latest style 2023 CCV box a better option than the OE 2019 CCV stock replacement.
I wld agree
