Yammie, it’s funny you brought up a Honda CBR300 because I have a Honda CB300R (naked Variant) but I’m not about to mod it instead of just jumping to the next fastest CC bike. Stock motorcycles all day. (Haven’t even installed a tail tidy).
Yammie no disrispect but when I see that someone is speaking only about akrapovic, and showing just akrapovic, they are usualy noobs and dont know much about bikes and especialy about exoust.
I'm almost 50 and have been riding since I was 5. I picked up a cyan storm 2022 MT-07 last year. The wife kept saying she hated the color of the wheels and I should have gotten black. I spent $50 on a massive amount of hentai stickers and told her since she didn't like the wheel colors that I was going to sticker bomb the entire bike including the wheels in naked anime girls. She no longer complains about the color of my wheels and I always have them on hand in case they need to be used a negotiation leverage in the future. Might be one of the best investments I have made in not only motorcycling but in life. 🤣
I bought a $300 headlight from eBay because it was cheaper than some other companies selling the same model, the wiring made no sense, the packaging was messy, the headlights felt cheap and didn’t work right, returned them the same day and ordered the expensive ones, they hooked right up and look nicer, always worth it to spend the extra money
I legit wonder who that Guy Fieri looking Harley guy is in this video. Yam, this guy doesn’t even know how famous you have made him over the years. Also, I agree, beginners please don’t sticker bomb your bike!
I'm happy with the 2 "cheap" components I bought for my bike: windshield (since it's a naked bike) and frame sliders. This was probably 3 years ago and still going strong
Yea, in my country, 250 or 300 cc bikes are considered luxury. Beginner bikes are sub-150cc,, the price difference is huge! Either between sub-150cc to 300cc and between 300cc to 600 or above
You say not to buy a cheap slip on, but some of those knock offs are pretty good. A few years ago I put a knock off Akrapovic on a MT-03.(I wasn't going to spend even 10% of the sale price on a slip on) I think you would of had a hard time on sound alone telling the difference. My friend had a real one on his and they sounded p much the same. The only thing someone who was into bikes would of noticed was it didn't have the logo on it. Also after a year the paint started to chip off and rust. But for the price of a real one I could of bought 10 of the knock offs. So replacing it every year or so wouldn't of been too much of a problem. Will say anything that has to do with controls do NOT buy cheap parts. Last thing you want is for a rear set or lever to fall off when you're going down the road.
Bought a set of $35 levers and they work just fine(little wobbly). If you want frame sliders, buy some good ones. Dropped my bike in my muddy front yard, bike fell over and snapped the slider bold and holder. Bought a color matched rear solo seat for $20. Looked awesome but the lock latched snapped so i had to plastic weld it back together.
Honestly my MZS Amazon levers work great. Not too wobbly surprisingly and don’t break to easily. The adjustments on them are kinda wack when you get to the ends but other then they’ve been great
Was short on cash. Needed a new chain as there was very in little adjustment left on the original. Found great price on Chinese chain on Amazon. Fortunately I work on my own bike. So 2 weeks later when the chain separated at 70 mph I was able to replace the front sprocket, rear sprocket, chain guard, front sprocket case cover and of course the chain. All to save a couple dollars on a pretty, shiny gold chain from China.
I just bought my first bike, a 2022 Vulcan S! I’ve been binging your how to and what not to do videos and they have helped tremendously!!! Can’t wait to get on the road
Take the beginner MOTORCYCLE SAFETY Foundation Riding course.... Reduces your insurance, some dealers refund the tuition when buying a bike from them, counts for STATE road test, and teaches road strategy, and road skills from professionals...might even save your bike and life!!! And you use their bikes, so dropping it during slow maneuver training, is no big deal!!!
Well this doesn't apply in Indonesia, good mods = more value to the bike, even if it's useless on a 250cc bike. Heck you can even sell these used modified parts for 70% to 80% of the original cost, for instance if you buy akrapovic full system for $800, you can still sell it for $650-700. That's why you can see some cbr250rr, with modification parts that cost more (Sometimes even 3x) than the bike itself. It's quite common to see 250cc bikes with: ohlins adjustable rear & front, arrow/yoshimura/akrapovic full system, dual front brembo gp4rs, brembo rcs 19 corsacorta, rear 2p brembo, quickshifter, unnecessary lightech parts, carbon parts, and marchesini/OZ/rotobox. The worst part is, they're not bringing it to the track, even if it's a track ready bike. And yes, a used R6 from 2012 (non-modified) cost you more than $15k (due to our tax policy on big bikes)
In case you're wondering, what $8k- above $40k worth of modification, the keyword on RUclips: - (bike name) + hedon - e.g CBR250RR hedon - sigirkaruniaumbara (youtuber name) + any bike name - one3motoshop (youtuber name) + any bike name
2017 Ninja 300 rider (the last of the N300 for USA). Had it since 2017. Only mods: Slip on (it is Chinese/wish). Screen swap with opaque black (I'm not tucking on a 300). Spools for maintenance. I did remove some large reflectors. But the best mod was a electrical sensor to flash the brake light while engine braking. Only future mod left is finally doing the tidytail before selling it or keeping it forever. Also, I live in Central Oklahoma and have raced tornados home to take cover with my wife and dogs.
Hilariously, for my GT650 (third bike, but you've covered it as a beginner bike), I got $20 bar-end cafe mirrors (more stable than stock), a $500 full system exhaust (which I think is just running rich on 92 octane, and going down an octane level will possibly fix it), and a chop and bolt tail tidy to move the brakes/turn signals under the seat cowling. One other extremely simple mod that will go a long way towards resale value- better seat.
When stock parts are damaged, it’s better to buy from rip off brands than official brands, especially if it’s just a fairing screw, grip, or handle, you’ll save hundreds of bucks.
as a european i had to start crying when he said a full akra system costs 700 bucks. thats less than most slip ons will costs you in the eu because of regulations and expensive paperwork
for a used $1000 EMMO Knight Sport. i got a $37 black windshield off ebay, $12.20 red and amber rear turns that matched the pre installed fronts, and some gimmicky af $25 bottom mounted blade mirrors off Amazon. it's not a motorcycle tho, so i don't feel as bad. probably tossing the $200 add-on side "Storage" in a corner in trade of an eliminator. want to talk about a useless mod? $200+ for 4 inch wide hardcase panniers that have zero waterproofing and made of plastic that shatters and shards lol. probably keeping them as dust collectors in case i resell...
What should I get, an R3 or a Ninja 400? Should I Dyno each of these bikes and check the Horsey Power an see which one is PUTIN' down more to the road!!
Appreciate the video but hey how about breaks, are there modes that make breaks better? I am a beginner "for ever " and I believe that for us beginners the most important parts should be the brakes and the clutch (stopping and speed control )
A better set of pads should be just fine. Begginer bikes are usually very lightweight, so some good quality pads, on a well maintained brake system will be great. Performance clutches will bite harder and give less sensitivity, so a well maintained stock clutch that's not worn out is your best bet.
@@tjey379 ive never messed with a master cylinder unless i put a bigger brake system. Beginner bikes can stop easy with stock pads but yes they make better pads but the issue with new riders and brakes is they typically yank the brakes vs gradually increasing them. Know plenty who never been close to accidents in and out of rain with stock pads on 300/400 bikes
I am thinking about getting myself a Honda cb650r and I really do not plan on modding it. I have heard that its gears are a bit long and it lacks just a tiny bit of low end torque, so the most I would do is get a larger rear sprocket, and only if those problems actually exist.
But yam, us 300cc street squids are building our bikes to dedicated track bikes. . . But for the street. . . Keep on building the 300cc bikes ,make them what you want it's half the fun of owning a bike. Rubber side guys and one wheel up 👍
EBay/Amazon parts are a maybe. Had a 80 dollar Amazon slip on for my z400. Hated the stock exhaust. 80 dollars for a decent exhaust that sounds the same as all the name brand slip ons. Spending 1k on a name brand exhaust for a beginner's motorcycle is just a complete waste of money. Also off brand certain parts are ok. I'm not paying 250 for a Yamaha windscreen that looks exactly the same as the 50 dollar eBay one.
Know what ebay parts to cheap out on. Buying an ignition (like i did) is not the way to go. Buying a fairing bolt kit or fram sliders from eBay: money savings👍
My 125cc chinese bike has electronic self adjustable valves so I dont need to retune it if I install a full system exhaust on it. And for those wondering im irish and from the UK.
Is a 06 CBR 600rr i paid $1k for worth fixing these parts? It needs fairing kit prolly the bolts kit for the fairings, needs headlight assembly an intake ducts. An prolly few odds an ends but it runs good sounds fine. Just looking for something to ride to scratch an itch every now an then. 41yrs old come from the dirtbike world but i sold my last bike about 7yrs ago an a friend was selling his CBR after it got stolen an recovered but obviously was dinged up. From what i can tell its cosmetic
I put 42 stickers on my bike and it went up 5hp and took my C rated tires to AA. My service manual says my bikes sticker cap is 45 for +6hp, when I get my tax returns I’ll be installing a full sticker mod I can’t wait
Exhaust wrap shouldn't be used for looks, because it doesn't look good. Although i got exhaust wrap on my CBR600, but that's because it's really happy to overheat, new coolant didn't do the trick, but the wrap did. Luckily the farings are covering the headers from the sides, so it's really hard to see the wrap.
Another One of the worst mods done to beginner bikes is lowering it. Don't do this! Most have a relatively low seat height as is and no one wants to pay to fix it when you resell it. If it's your first bike just get one that fits. Most of the time lowering a bike negatively affects the way it handles also, so just do everyone including yourself a favor and just don't.
Slip ons are dumb, whenever you change a part of the intake or exhaust system you should tune your bike. Hell most bikes need to be retuned as soon as they roll off the lot, because of the emissions laws they come lean from factory. If its a beginner bike just save every penny and trade it in in a year or sell it
no gonna lie on my crf300l i have a full yoshi exhaust and tune it was worth every penny and i dont have to look at that tiny 1" diameter exhaust pipe anymore i hated that thing it reminded me of my 3incher and that's not cool man😂
Never seen a coffman in person but they are made in the usa vs china so the quality of the cnc cut metal should be good just depends on if you’re willing to deal with the noise vs a non shorty exhaust
Remember cars/motorcycles are not assets but deprecating liabilities. You will never make money when selling you ur bike with mods. Probably easier to sell if primarily stock.
My only question is if you buy something with the intentions of selling it in the future A.)why did you buy it? and B.)if you were buying knowing you were gonna sell it then why mod it? Cuz you’re right, vehicles are depreciating assets so I dont understand why ppl buy new vehicles knowing their gonna sell it in a year. Almost every vehicle I’ve bought I’ve only gotten rid of cuz the engine blew and it wasn’t worth the cost to fix for what I paid for the vehicle. It genuinely does not make sense to me.
my first bike, last year,,,a katana 750, been decent , kinda heavy to get used to but seems fine now, and havent done much to it, besides the initial 500 i paid for it, and about 3 months over the winter messing with cleaning carbs and fairings up and brake system.

I've decided to sticker bomb the wind screen of any bikes I own. If I sell them it's a cheaper replacement and I have a unique piece that reminds me of the bike
Or selling the groms for more than new MSRP with "I know what I've got" in the tag line. Like, I'll pay $5k for an old Corolla with 200k on the clock, especially if it's a standard, but Toyota proved that was a good enough car to justify it.

I've decided to sticker bomb the wind screen of any bikes I own. If I sell them it's a cheaper replacement and I have a unique piece that reminds me of the bike
Carbon wheels ? please say they are always good.

Hey you used a stock image of an r ninet… you don’t like those things
People need to stop doing heavy mods to Groms and selling a clapped out mid 2010s bike for the price of a new one.
Or selling the groms for more than new MSRP with "I know what I've got" in the tag line. Like, I'll pay $5k for an old Corolla with 200k on the clock, especially if it's a standard, but Toyota proved that was a good enough car to justify it.
First like,
Nothing too say. Now will watch he vid
